Let me start off by saying my job is to go to restaurants and judge them on their service. My experience at now renamed Kirkwood Public House from venocity was mixed emotions for me! beautiful restaurant, great food! Walking in I was greeted and asked if needed a table I chose to sit at the bar. I sat at the bar for 10mins without even being noticed by who later I found out to be one of the owners of kirkwood public house. He was very slow ,not very friendly and I had to wait so long on my order and my check out! He did not maintain a smooth flow of his bar! In my observation of the other customers around the bar, you could clearly see they were unhappy with his services. Imagine waiting 15mins to get a refill on one of the many beers they carry now and when I finally got a refill I was not even spoken too or greeted withn a smile. I would give Kirkwood Public House an overall good review based on the rest of staff who gave extreme customer service but I am very disappointed to know that the owner has no customer service skills! A little word of advice leave it to the PROFESSIONALS! Leave it to someone who actually like their job! Two thumbs down for Mr.John Turpin

Very disappointed! Ive been to this bar plenty of times and it gets worst every time. This time I had a waitress name Rachel, very disrespectful, rude, slow & demanding. I watched her wait other tables (with white customers) & it seemed as if tho she was doing a great job, but every time she got to my table she frowned, slammed drinks and plates & walked off. My friend which was paying for the tab only tipped her 2 dollars (thats she didnt deserve). I guess she miscounted the tip so she was upset with the tip. She walked us to the door to talk crap and tell us to never come back. I walked back in the building to tell the manager & she bumps me. I informed the manager (which was white as well) & he looked at me & asked her to enter the restaurant. He did not apologize anything barely looked at me. Id hate to pull a race card, but at this point thats all I could think of, the other customers (white) seemed satisfied. Oh btw we were the only black customers in there. They might as well have a "No blacks allowed" sign. Definitely DISGUSTED with this whole business.

My friend and I decided to stop by here after spending the day at the kirkwood festival. The food was great and fresh too! The reason they are getting three stars instead of five is because of our waiter. He started off by leaving us unattended for twenty minutes. Then came over to get our drinks and didnt even ask us if we were ready to order. I stopped him from walking away and told him I would like an appetizer. He left us again and came back and said "did yall figure out what you wanted to eat yet?" And I was just shocked at this point but I was in a good mood and placed our order. When he brought our water out he threw the straws on the table and walked away. I didnt ask to speak to anyone because he seemed to be having a rough day but thats no excuse in this business. Overall come for the food but dont expect great service. If u get who I had u will regret going.

I hadnt ever been here before, but live nearby and was super hungry so I gave it a try. Service was friendly but kind of dragging, though they werent that busy. I just wanted a cheeseburger, but they dont have a straight forward burger, only a bacon cheeseburger, meaning (as I learned later) I had to buy the bacon either way.No biggie, but thought that was odd. When did the Bacon cheeseburger become the standard? Why am I paying for food I specifically dont want? I was hungry..I got past it. My "not bacon, medium rare" BACON cheese burger came out...well done, and with Bacon. OK, again. This isnt the end of the world. I happen to like bacon...a lot. I just wasnt feeling it tonight. I feel a 3 star review meaning it was "ok" is pretty accurate. They "kinda" cared, and my food was "kinda" what I ordered. Huge TVs at the bar. Maybe the biggest Ive ever seen.

Kirkyard is an amazing restaurant. I want to convey also I am a black man. Not that it matters, but other reviews have some serious accusations against this establishment. I go there once a week. I always feel very welcome. I have come in groups of all black men and women, we received exqusite service. Rachel was our server. We tipped 20% not 2 dollars at the end though. Bailey at the bar is awesome also. Dano the owner walks around personally and checks on everyone whenever I am at the restaurant. The menu for being an average size restaurant has a vast array of options. Burgers are good. Wings are amazing (lemon pepper). Fish and Chips are my favorite. Nachos are awesome. This restaurant is great, I make it a point to visit just to get great food and service. Go check it out.

I went to this neighborhood joint, excited to patronize a local restaurant. The flavors of my husbands and my dishes were not good... over salted steak, bland, flavorless succotash and beans. A chicken dish overrun with oily pimento flavor. I wouldnt say it was overpriced, because that would imply there was a price worth paying for this mediocre food. The server was not particularly attentive, and their reputedly slow service exceeded my expectations... this place was SO much slower than I could have anticipated. The only thing positive is the atmosphere is really great. I dont plan on returning, and that is so unfortunate... I really do want the local restaurant scene to flourish, but not enough to force myself to go to that place again.

Not sure how to re-review but things have really changed at this place and I feel like Google or the restaurant should do something to get a clean slate here. This is not the same business/staff/owner and I cant say enough about how great it is now. My previous review was for like 7 years ago when the original inhabitants were a bunch of crooks. It in no way applies to the current and I bet alot of the reviews on here are the same. The food is really great all around american style food. Service is perfect and take out is really convienant. The atmosphere inside is toally comfortable now and is a great spot to hang out. Good for families and all.

I love this place! The food is always delicious. the atmosphere is amazing. The waiters are very friendly and prompt. My boyfriend and I always ask for Rachel or sit with Bailey at the bar. Their awesome service keeps us coming back. We live outside of the perimeter but it is so worth the drive and we always feel welcomed. The lemon pepper wings are our favorite and also the chicken nachos. If you havent been to Kirkyard you are missing out, they have great tvs perfect for football season. the owner himself, Dano, always seems to be very personable caring to all the guests everytime we are there. He knows how to run this place perfectly.
