I went on a Saturday afternoon and the cafe had plenty of open space. The "Cat" part of the cafe, however, was small, full, and is on a restrictive schedule. They do one hour time blocks that must be reserved. I have been to many cat cafes in Korea and this one is quite different. The main difference is that the "Cafe" is separate from the "Cats" as there is a dividing wall. You are allowed to bring your beverage from the cafe into the "Cat" area. This is due to regulation about animals in food service areas. I hope that Java Cats reconsiders their hour-block reservation system. A 1-in-1-out policy would be effective. I believe that people are staying in there for the whole hour just because they paid for it. What they should a 1-in-1-out policy where the maximum capacity at any given time is 8, with a maximum of 1 hour. That way when customers are done they leave and allow someone else to enjoy the cats. Another idea to consider if 1-in-1-out would not work, it would be better to make the slots 30 minutes during the weekends and 1 hour during the weekdays, for the same price of $10. That way they can double weekend revenue and allow more people to experience the cats. A 30 minute time slot schedule would also allow for more frequent breaks for the cats as it would be easier to schedule short breaks. Java Cats did offer me walk-in hour-long spots if I was willing to wait 30 minutes but they were only willing to allow 2 of my group of 3 walk-in. I asked if two of us could each take half of the time slot and they said no. I believe in what they are doing here and hope I can visit the cafe another time and enter the "Cat" area.

I wanted so badly to be in love with this place! The concept is wonderful... the execution, not so much. Supposedly, they let something like 6-8 people in the cat room at a time. Ok, makes sense. You pay $10 for a drink + one hour in cat room. Ok, sure, although now its getting iffy. Drink wait time is long for tea or anything they have to prepare, by long I mean 5+ minutes. Youre supposed to make a reservation to be in the cat room... That kinda sucks especially since you have no way to know this beforehand. And, they randomly let more than 8 people in the room if they feel like it. We got the last time slot of the day and 1.the cats were all tired (not sure if they let them have any quiet time during the day), 2.it ended up being 12-15 people in there because they just kept letting more in, so it was a ratio of 2-3 people per cat, and 3. people arent prevented from being annoying like chasing cats around the room or picking up cats that dont want to be picked up. Kinda tacky if youre making me pay $10 to occupy this "reserved" space. Also, they have VERY limited parking, so it is difficult to even get in. Good idea, but I think there could be some improvements.

Java Cats is definitely one of my new favorite spots! My boyfriend and I went on a Thursday afternoon and it was wonderful. From the time we walked in and got our coffee (which is delicious), to the time we left, we were greeted with a friendly staff and playful kitties! Reserving your 1 hour time slot is very easy and convenient. We were able to stay a little past our time since the place was slow during the time we went. Some of the cats were napping, but we got to play with each one at some point and they are CUTE!!!!! I love the mission of this place and the layout where you can watch the cats from the large window as you enjoy your coffee! It is a very chill hangout spot it is super trendy. The parking is limited, but we didnt have trouble finding a spot when we went and it was such a fun date spot for my cat loving boyfriend and I. The place is clean and the cats have plenty of room to play. And did I mention that there are NONE of the original cats there, thats right, they have ALL been adopted. Come check this cool new place out and adopt a cat!

This was the BEST place I have been!! I brought a friend with me and it was so nice getting there a bit early to enjoy such a nice part of town before having such a great time with the kitties. The parking is a bit strange, but I parked on the back side of the block and I didnt feel strange walking to my cat after 10 (I had the latest reservation time). I did go for the cats, but the coffee was so good too! Such a nice, clean place with the eclectic Atlanta feel that we all love. No need to worry- the coffee shop and cat room are separate, and the cat room doesnt even smell like cats! A lot of people expressed to me that they wouldnt enjoy that, and honestly it smelled less like animals than any pet store I have ever been to. Everything about this place was well thought out and enjoyable. I really have zero complaints, and cant even name a way this little place can improve. Did I mention that even the pastries and such go to help Atlanta homeless get back into the job market???

Good coffee with both almond and soy milk as dairy alternatives for those of us who cant have regular milk. The cat room is separated from the cafe with a large viewing window in between, so you can still watch the kitties play (or nap) without paying for a spot in the kitty room. To get in the kitty room, its smart to make a reservation as they allow 10 reservations per hour slot plus 2 walk ins. When my husband and I went in, there were 12 or 13 cats, but a handful were ready for a nap. They do specifically have a cat nap hour from 4 to 5 and I remember the employee mentioning another earlier in the day as well. They also have a small room with litter boxes that can be closed off with kitty access only through a cat door for the cats to escape to as well as several shelves and perches near the ceiling if they need a break. I definitely recommend this cafe for coffee lovers, cat lovers, or just anyone looking for a new and unique experience.

As a person who cant afford to have a cat right now, this place is a godsend. Java Cats Cafe partners with Paws Atlanta so all of the cats you see are adoptable. The cafe is open for walk ins all the time but if you want to see the kitties up close you have to book ahead of time, this is to make sure the cats dont get overwhelmed with so many people. They are shelter cats so some kitties are more skittish than others, so just keep in mind these arent your normal housecats. But there are plenty of friendly kitties in there that will come up to you and love you to pieces. As for the cafe, the tea is amazing! I need to come back earlier in the day to try their coffee, but I absolutely love their mint tea! They only have things like chips and cookies to eat, so dont come here super hungry. The smores cookie is the absolute best! Everything besides the chips are handmade goodness.
