I will start by stating, I love the cheesecake but hated the service I received from the General Manager Chris Gunn at Cafe Intermezzo-Ashford Dunwoody. I ordered the mango chicken avocado wrap on Friday and was disappointed when it arrived. It says it comes on wheat wrap, they brought out white, they state it comes with mango slices, mine came with none (I thought they minced them and maybe mixed them in with the chicken), it was the size of a small enchilada and was under seasoned. I enjoyed the cheesecake so much, I wanted to purchase another slice the very next day but decided to go to the Buckhead location instead. I saw a chicken wrap plate that looked delicious. It was 3 times a large as the one I ate, on a wheat wrap with mango slices in it. I felt dupped! I left there and went straight to the Ashford Dunwoody location to speak to the manager to let them know my concern. I explained it to the manager and all she could say was she apologized and we use how ever many ounces of meat and it shouldnt have been a difference. I asked for her boss at this point because I could care less about what is the correct ounces used. I saw a major difference and wanted to address that issue. The General Manager, Chris Gunn, said the same thing the manager said (to be expected from management who do not know how to handle concerns/complaints/customers) he will speak with the executive chef over all locations, apologized and walked off. I asked him his name and at that point he became irritated by me asking and gave me his first name only and told him I was disappointed in how he handled my concern. I stated as he couldve offered me a 10% off card, a drink, a piece of cheesecake or the corrected version of the dish I originally ordered to show me this is how it is supposed to be, I hope you enjoy it and come back. He told me he wasnt giving me anything because I demanded it from him and asked me to leave because I was causing a scene. I was appalled! I was asked to leave for discussing my concern? I stated to him that I enjoyed the cheesecake and intended to purchase more and he didnt care about me or my current or potential business? He stated that if I told him that day, I he would have done something about it. I paid my tab at 12:02am and returned to that same establishment at 7:30-8:00 pm that same day. I wouldnt recommend this place to anyone nor do I wish such poor service on my worst enemy!

Cafe Intermezzo has been one of my favorite places since I moved here to Atlanta a few years ago. My husband and I have enjoyed the atmosphere and the food so much that we had Mr. Patmore help us create our own cheesecake for our grooms cake at our wedding. However, we had such an awful experience this last week, I felt I needed to bring it to their attention. Last week, we went to dinner with friends of ours and were discussing what to do for dessert. They had to be convinced to go to Intermezzo as theyve not had super experiences there, but we convinced them to return and give it another try. Unfortunately, the server we had did not help my case at all and I doubt we will be able to convince them to come again. From the very beginning of our visit, Miguel had such an awful attitude we hardly felt able to ask him for anything. When our friend asked to change her cup of coffee, he was rude to her and so she sat with a cold cup of coffee the entire visit. All four of us sat with empty water glasses the entire visit because he never returned to our table except when we had to almost grab him in order to get our check to leave. Ive been a server before and understand the stress of an evening, but I also understand from personal experience its no excuse for rudeness. Our dessert was delicious and we do so enjoy the concept of Cafe Intermezzo, and I maintain that this experience is far from our normal experience. I want to be able to continue to bring friends here and to not look like a fool when I do so.

Today was a very disappointing experience. I had visitors out of town, to whom I bragged about the Intermezzo Kaffe, Kuchen und Leckereien. This ambiente is as close as it gets to European or German Kaffehaus/Konditorei. Upon arrival we were seated in a side room off the bar area. Very nice. However, I noticed that guests at 5 tables in same room, seem to not have been served... Not even a beverage but the complimentary glass of water. Ten minutes in we got a glass of water as well as the menu. Ten min after that, the waiter asked what we would like but he would only take the beverage order and be back shortly for our food order. We looked at each other for a moment but said: ok, can do. We placed our Kaffe and Chocolate order. Then the hostess came into the room and cleaned up a few tables. She apologized to us and a few other tables. Unfortunately they are understaffed. Well, we all looked at each other... Called off guard, I guess. After waiting a total of 28 min we had not received our Kaffe/ Chocolate order. In the same time span out of 5 tables only 1 got served with their order. We decided to get up and leave. No waiter was in sight at all as we stepped out the premises. All other times I had visited their food and Kaffee as well as Kuchen were delicious and the service on point. We ended up dining at the Capital Grille.

I had not been to Intermezzo in years and after shopping in a nearby store decided to take my wife. Back then I always went to the Midtown location. The patio here at the Dunwoody location is really nice with the fountain. However, the service is unbelievably bad. I have rarely ever seen a less attentive, less competent waitress. The table was covered in water (drink sweat from the previous customers) when we sat. After she dried it we had to ask to have the candle lit and then had to ask for a drink menu. We waited a good 7-10 minutes before some other waitress stopped and asked if anyone had waited on us, so we just gave her our order. Our actual waitress then brought waters with no cocktail napkin which proceeded to sweat all over the table again in the 85 degree high humidity night. Then another 10 minutes before our super complicated drinks (glass of Merlot and vodka tonic) arrived carried by a third waiter. We asked him for cocktail napkins. The vodka tonic had no ice and honestly tasted like no vodka either. We asked for the bartender to remake it and unbelievably, it was actually worse. Not only was there no ice but it tasted warm. So we got up and left completely disappointed. Bad drinks, bad service, I dont see how they stay in business.

Im a little torn on this review because I very much liked the food and decor, but the most important person on the staff to my visit seemed to not know I was there at all. I was seated in very short order when I arrived, but I managed to peruse the entire menu and decide on what I wanted to eat, the Italian Gnochi, before I ever met my waitress. She did not make an appearance until I was seriously questioning my own sanity, perhaps she came by and I had ignored her by accident. But no, she showed up a minute or so later with a brief and seemingly mandatory apology about the wait, took my drink and food order and disappeared. My glass probably spent half my visit empty getting only one refill, I know Atlanta has had some water rights drama recently but this was an absurdly small glass. The other staff members that I interacted with all seemed to be on the ball and on top of their game, otherwise Id need to find a way to rate the service in the negative. The food, and particularly the Oreo Cheesecake was good enough that I returned for a second slice the following evening. Ill happily give this place another shot if I happen to be in the area and hope that my wait staff is better.
