Terrible Service, Plus Terrible Food! If I could rate this restaurant a BIG ZERO I would!!! My husband & I were having a "Date Night" and wanted to try somewhere different, so we tried this place. First off, the male hostess was not friendly or welcoming... This behavior was followed up by our waitress NADIA. She seemed very annoyed that we had questions regarding the menu & seemed uniterested in being our server. My husband & I felt like getting up & walking out, lets face it, there were 100 more resturants in the area who would of loved to have our business, but we felt that she may be having a bad day & gave have her the benefit of the doubt. So the terrible service & experience with NADIA continued when she neglected to bring our cocktails, another member of the wait staff brought us our drinks... At first we thought nothing of it perhaps another peer helping one another out, until later our entrees were brought out by another wait staff. We then began to think our waitress NADIA was intentionally ignoring us! She proved it by waiting almost 30 MINUTES INTO OUR MEAL she decided to come by & ask if everything was ok. By then, I just wanted to leave... NADIA made us feel that she was prejuidice by purposely ignoring us, perhaps it was the color of our skin or perhaps our accents that led her to believe we were from NY who knows, but she made it very clear, that she did not want to wait on us & she was not interested in earning a tip from us!!! So when we had to flag another server for our bill, I rarely ever do this, but when I get terrible service; a non-exsistent server & they make it known that they dont really care if you enjoy your experience or not, then why leave a tip? You tip based off of your positive or negative experience... So we did not leave a tip! As we were leaving the resturant, NADIA was sitting at a table near the door folding up napkins, there was no "Goodbye" there was no "Thank you for coming in" or no "Thank you for your business." This lack of interest reaffirmed her tip was deffinately earned! No Service, No Tip! We ended up going around the corner to Bar Taco & had the BEST SERVICE, BEST SERVER (Chris) EVER!! We left him a 40% TIP! I WILL NEVER go back to the Wine Exchange Bistro & I will make sure, all my friends & social media know, about our terrible experience & how the only way this establishment will make money is by upcharging on flank steak that has tons of tendons & fat, because making money on tips, due to the lack of interest, is non-exsistent!

We met some friends at the Wine Exchange last night. None of us had eaten there before. We thought it was EXCELLENT! The atmosphere was ideal. No blaring music.....just right for conversations with friends. I have to eat Gluten Free due to Celiac disease and found our waiter extremely attentive. I asked about several dishes on the menu and he double checked everything. When appetizers arrived, I asked about my dinner mates dishes to see if I could try them. He let me know the Gluten status of everything that landed on our table. And today I am healthy and know for sure I did not got any gluten. :) The mussels in spicy coconut broth was AMAZING! Everyone at the table clamored for them. Drinks were served promptly, water was kept topped off and my husband said his red wine was WONDERFUL. I found myself getting full after the appetizers, so ordered their chicken/pecan/grape salad and found it fresh and light which was exactly what I was looking for. My husbands steak was DELICIOUS too. The only negative I have is that gluten free dessert options were sparse. They had a chocolate bar from a Chocolatier next door, but I had already popped in their and had purchased truffles. So I just ate one of those while my dinner companions ordered dessert from the menu. My husband got the chocolate cake/mouse and said it was o.k. He tasted one of the truffles from next door and was drooling for the rest of them. They did not know the gluten status of his dessert because they do not make it on site. A chef made (on site) flourless chocolate cake would have made this a perfect experience for me, but it was still top notch and we are definitely going back soon!

Ive been to the Wine Exchange Bistro three times now and the food is always delicious. Its my favorite restaurant in Tampa. Especially love the chili rubbed flank steak, and the mashed potatoes were heavenly. The special of duck with a wild berry sauce was amazing. And a really good value too. I love the wine flights. The atmosphere is great both inside and outside. The bar tenders are very friendly. Only recommendation: I tried the scallop & shrimp tequila appetizer tonight. It was delicious except for . . . the crystallized ginger candy. I love those little ginger candies, but just not in my food! A few as a garnish would have been a clever touch, but they were like, the main ingredient! Overflowing the bowl. You couldnt take a bite without getting a mouthful of them. The appetizer stands on its own - the ginger candy was just a distraction from the savory flavor that was already there. Lose the ginger candy and it would be perfect. Or maybe a few shreds of real ginger on top, instead. :-)

The only item not causing any concern wasnt made by them: the laphroaig 10 year. I ordered a simple Roma (non meat) pizza, and a pizza smaller than a slice of a pizza youd order at any mom and pop pizza shop came out with a massive piece of tomato on each "slice". A highlight on this pizza was suppose to be the pesto; unfortunately, the cook had simply poured the entire restaurants supply under the massive pieces of tomatoes. It was horrendous, and I finished it only because I was starving and wasnt going to let my 10 or so dollars go to waste. The penne ordered by my wife came out with 4 pieces of penne (exaggeration, but you get the point) mixed in with a decent serving of seafood. She was satisfied with the taste, but the stomach kept on grumbling. Youre probably thinking two large people? Nope, we each weigh no more than 155 lbs.

Went for dinner tonight. Seemed nice at first. The mussels appetizer was really good. Just took forever to come out. While waiting for the app, me and my girlfriend both ran out of beer. I found it interesting to watch the two bartenders completely enthralled with their side work and breaking down the bar (this was at 9 pm on a Saturday mind you) instead of paying any attention to those sitting at the bar. After another half hour or so and finally a drink refresh, dinner came. Looked nice. Tasted ok at best. The meatloaf was overcooked and uninspiring. Im usually not overly critical of places and am fairly easy to please. This place underperformed and really disappointed. But, the mussels were good.

I like the wine exchange and love the gnocchi a la chovie (minus chovies!), but tonight I was caught off guard when I got my bill. For that pasta entree and to add chicken it was $22+ !! Their online menu on Google and their website says the entree is $12.50 plus adding chicken for $5.95 (which is still crazy), but then server showed me the menu I had looked at and I guess I missed the over $3 increase to $15.95!! I paid more than my cousin who got steak! I was just really disappointed in the discrepancy I had overlooked before I left home until my bill. I would rather go to a steak house for a meal that expensive and I didnt even have a drink. Sigh...a menu update is recommended.
