Travel Reviews
I think Ive given 5 stars to possibly 2 or 3 other restaurants since Google reviews was invented. My wife and I went for the first time last night. The food was fantastic and the service was top notch. Now, when I say the food was fantastic, I dont just mean that it tasted good. It did. But, also each dish was prepared in a very innovative way that gave it a truly distinctive taste and texture. Eg, I would not have thought of roasted almond slices in seafood chowder but it was a perfect compliment. The creme brulee had caramelized popcorn on top and a slight sprinkle of sea salt. The price made it a good value. Exclusive of the tip, the meal was $210 which included soup, appetizers, higher end entrees, desert and a bottle of very good wine. Finally, the waiter was always close by but not encroaching. Food was prepared quickly, plates removed promptly, and water and wine glasses were always full. After my extraordinary disappointment in Berns, I was getting close to abandoning my hope that Tampa residents had the capacity to identify good food but Oystercatchers and Ulele (separate review) have reignited my hope.

Food was good, but service was absolutely poor. I almost thought that I was being "punked". Stopped in for lunch today. I arrived at about 2:10p after holding on the line for nearly 5 minutes to confirm that they were open for lunch and did not have just evening hours. I was surprised to see that the restaurant was nearly empty. I chose to sit on the patio where there was one couple. I had to ask twice for lemons for my water, when my arugula salad arrived I had to ask for bread, the tablesetting for the three other empty chairs was never cleared. The waitress seemed decent, but was either new and "green" or just lazy. I still left a 15% tip, but really should have spoken with a manager. This level of service should be unacceptable for the GRAND HYATT.

The BEST place in Tampa for oysters!! The atmosphere is beyond words. The soft music playing in the background after a long day at work is heaven. They have this smoked salt for the bread which is SO GOOD. Their pork belly with the apple chutney is a party in the tummy and well, if you are a connoisseur of a finer cocktail, the Smoked Manhattan is the best in town. This is a place that everyone needs to experience at least once. Remember: Pork Belly. Oysters. Smoked Manhattan. Smoked Salt for bread & butter. And there you have it. You cannot go wrong with those items. The service is always fantastic - I adore those men and women that bust their tails doing such a great job. Thank you Oystercatchers!

Im no cheapskate but this place was way overpriced. The ambiance was beautiful but that was the only good thing about it. All we ordered was some oysters, drinks and a couple of dishes. It took almost an hour for the oysters and other food to show up. The oysters (from Washington) showed up warm! The grouper sandwich was nothing special. The seafood hotpot tasted like they just steamed the seafood and threw it in the sauce. The service was very slow and not at all what you would expect from a Hyatt. Ive paid more than this for lunch at other places but at least at those places, I got my moneys worth. Dont waste yours here.

OYSTERCATCHERS is located in a beautiful setting. I was prepared for a "high-end" restaurant and from the outside it met my expectation. Once inside I was disappointed mainly on the service and ambience. With only 4 in our party you could not carry on a conversation due to the high level of noise. Kevin, our waiter, was prompt and cocktails were served in a reasonable time period. From that point he wanted our order. Indicating that we would like to visit and peruse the menu did not register as he kept pestering for his order. Rush Rush Rush. Food was good but not for the price.

I ordered the blackened mahi mahi which was somewhat dry and had little flavor. The sauteed green beans amandine were likewise bland and I only found one almond sliver at the bottom of the pile. I didnt care much for the tropical rice as it was a little too sweet. Jared even gave me a smirk when I kindly asked in plenty of time if he could switch it for the roasted potatoes. The untucked orange shirts of the servers seemed an odd uniform for the place. Just another expensive eatery where they make the food the way they make it and youd better like it.

A bit pricey but the food reflects that. The presentation is amazing, stunning, and very fancy. This place is basically a greater Red Lobster. The Prices are a bit expensive like Red Lobster but instead of getting ok food here you get a wow factor when you get food. My waiter was very nice and served me in the most polite most patient and attentive way a waiter should be. I may of spended alot but the food was amazing and the deserts are to die for!!!! They have a little beach ish outdoor area in white sand with a wooden pier. Amazed by my experience here!!

Hands down the best brunch we have ever had (and possibly the best seafood, too). The seafood is so fresh, tasty, and plentiful. So many options to choose from, there will be something for everyone! Also had the best bananas foster Ive ever had! It can get pretty busy during brunch, youll either have to get there early or make a reservation. We got there around 10:45am (they open at 10:30am) and were able to get one of the last available tables. By the time we left (around noon), there were already a few people waiting outside for tables.

This place ladies and gentlemen was a good dining experience and expensive. We only went for appetizers and spent $80. The premium oysters were huuuggggeee and the select were more on the smaller side. They did not have a perfect medium, however, were delicious. We didnt care too much for the mussels, we generally prefer a wine and garlic base, in comparison to theirs. They definitely had some appealing entrees had we had the appetite for would have indulged. Staff worked as a team and much older and experienced staff.

Gorgeous views right on the water! We dined outside for a proposal! They were accommodating for the reservation and didnt rush us or intrude a lot. They were very patient when the party arrived late. The food was so good! The lobster mac n cheese is a MUST! We enjoyed relaxing in the sand on the comfy lounge chairs provided and watching the sunset over the bay. The ambiance can be casual or fancy depending on your party. Its a bit pricey but thats because of great food, great service and an unbeatable view!

If I could give this restaurant below one star, I would have. The service here was terrible and the food was way below my expectations. I had a cockroach beside my table, and the server refused to take care of it. The manager took very very long to respond to me, after several phone calls and emails along with voicemails. My anniversary dinner was one of the worst experiences ever. I will never ever recommend anyone to come to this restaurant, at all. Im extremely disappointed in my experience.
