THIS PLACE IS TOTALLY AGAINST SERVICE ANIMALS...CALLS THEM PETS! Have a certified service animal, which they were notified of before hand. When we checked in it was a big deal & after they found out we were charged a surprise "phone fee". when I pointed out we have & use cell phones, she said "damage fee". I didnt have a cc, they wanted $100, I only had $60 & they took all of it. I did tell them its against the law to charge a fee on a service animal, but it didnt matter to them, they were going to find something to call it. When LSI said we were to check in for the week all id need is my ID. However, I also had all of Kyes paperwork which they refused to take a copy of. The next day after a morning of paperwork, testing meeting staff I was brought aside by a LSI employee who said shed been on the phone with the hotel owner/manager ALL morning. He wanted us out because he doesnt allow animals in hotel. However she told me there were no other hotels they use available to move us to. Everything was booked, there was no other place for us. I told her that if he tried to kick us out or move our things I would sue the Sailport under the federal disabilities act. I explained to her that we had offered the hotel Kyes info, Kye is classified service, & its against the law to kick us out, as well charge us the fee the Sailport had. She said they had assured her the fee was for the phone (but before I could get it back upon checkout they had to have a manager check the room???). All this commotion led me into a full panick attack, when this happens it is uncontrollable! (Unless, Kye is there. He can sense them before they start, alerts me with paw to mo my chest and then sits close or on lap where I begin to deesculate. Several times Kye has caught them before it was to far gone and deesculate & stopped attack all together! )When we returned to the hotel: Kye immediately came to me sensing what was happening, & my mom went to take copy of paperwork to owner of Sailport. She said he did not want it but wanted her to bring him law book. She explained that was his job, ours was to have paperwork with us and give him a copy, again he refused. The next day we went over to LSI to do X-ray & MRI. Then went to group meeting. Where they gave many excuses, I mean reasons, why surgery needs to be put off. They even called the imperative surgery, the week before, where MRI series over months show my nerve root being crushed causing the increased problems since November, an elective surgery that I may not even need to have. When we returned to the hotel to rest a minute and gather our items to pack car, we were locked out of room. It took 15 mins for mom to find owner, cause NO ONE else would let us in, to unlock door. Before doing so he wanted to know how long and if she had gotten him a law book. We got our things together, loaded car, cleaned dishes and suite to the best of our ability. Took video of room, took video of housekeeping manager saying room ok for refund & took video of mean forfeit man throwing deposit at me. Saying he doesnt care about service animals...all are pets....they stay somewhere else. If this is the type of attitude you want to support, then stay there. But I suggest staying a few minutes down the road on St Petes Beach at the exclusive big, pink hotel or one of the many gems that dot the coastline of the treasure coast. But please dont support a business that doesnt support our diabled, this includes the disabled coming back from war that have service animals as well! Not every injury is seen with the eye. DO NOT SUPPORT THIS UNAMERICAN, UNLAWFUL, DISABLED PERSON HATING HOTEL!!! BTW: I came home yesterday...no surgery...still unable to walk without assistance of walker or wheel chair

I was required to stay here for 2 months for work. Lets start with the rooms. The rooms were okay. Nothing luxurious by any means but they were functional. The showers could have had better water pressure but other than that okay. Staff wise they were okay as well. The morning security guard was great guy. The housekeeping staff were very nice as well. Front desk couldve been better but not the worst. The overnight guy, tall white guy, gave me a discount on an item from the shop because of having to wait for him which was nice of him to do. The girl that works the evening shifts could have been better at her job. I needed someone to do work on my car while I was there. He would come and change the shocks out for me at the hotel while I was away working. I went to the desk to let them know that someone was coming to do that for me and she gave me this blank look and then said "okay, but we never had this conversation if anyone asks." The whole point of me going there was to have that conversation and then she just avoided giving me an answer. Lastly, Pearlys, the hotel bar/restaurant, is for lack of a better word, bad. Their staff is okay at best. Definitely more concerned with closing up or the "regulars" than other patrons. One night, a drunk "owner" of a unit harassed my coworkers and I when we were having a meal. The place closes at 10 and we would get off work at 9 and try to grab food before they closed. One night, we were eating quietly at a table at 950pm. We had already paid and were sitting there while the bartender began closing. We assured her we would finish, throw away our trash and leave as soon as we could. This woman that had been at the bar comes up and tells us we have to leave. She said she was an owner of a unit there and that if we didnt leave she would call "Butch" to come down and make us leave. When we ignored her, she picked up the phone and called someone saying, "Yeah, I need you here. Couple of boys dont want to leave the bar." Keep in mind the bartender has not told us to leave once. We in fact asked her if she wanted us to leave and she said we were fine until we finished. Around this time, Butch shows up and when he sees there are 5 of us I guess he decided we could stay and finish are meals. So that is my 2 month long Sailport Inn and Waterfront Suite experience. I didnt care too much about any of it because I wasnt paying for it directly but had I been I probably would have.

On Feb 21, 2013 I telephoned Sailport and spoke with "David" to reserve a large 2-bedroom suite for a three nights for my wife and our two babies. They had vacancy and I guaranteed the reservation with my credit card. At the time of my reservation I specifically advised David that I required the use of 2 cribs and that this was an abolute necessity. I was told that they use "pack-&-plays" instead of formal cribs but that there was no issue with ensuring availability and our reservation was accepted (I received email confirmation as well). Over a month later, we arrived to the hotel on March 24 and were eager to check in and enjoy the Tampa Bay area but were told by the hotels manager that they did not have any cribs or "pack & plays" available. He said that they were already in-use and were on a 1st-come, 1st served basis (which we were never advised). He also had no idea when any would become available or where to rent them in the Tampa/Clearwater area. Frankly this was unacceptable response considering that we had specifically called with this requirement and our reservation was accepted. Frankly if a hotel can reserve and track room reservations, why cant it track crib reservations in the same fashion? This is just poor organization and poor customer service. We were thus forced to cancel our reservation and drive hotel-to-hotel looking for last minute availabily of rooms and cribs. Luckily we found a Best Western a few doors down that was very accomodating and offered the same fabulous waterfront views of the Tampa Bay at a lower price. In retrospect I consider myself lucky we didnt actually stay at Sailport. As we discovered on our arrival the hotel rooms are way overpriced, the place looks rundown and lacks regular maintenance and renovation, the elevators are slow and dated, and the pool looks like something youd see at a rundown motel. If youre staying on the north-side of the hotel you will be bombarded with club-music base to 11pm from the public beach and their dance club a few hundred yards across the small bay (sound does travel). Steer clear of Sailport if you have kids and go with an established hotel chain. Frankly, youre better off to keep going 20min more down the highway to Clearwater and enjoy your vacation on the beach.
