I asked a restauranter for a dinner recommendation for my last free night in downtown Tampa. He sugggested stopping in for charcuterie in SoHo and then to On Swann for dinner. I started out from my downtown hotel on a Coast Bike Share with that intent. Alas the night was too nice to pass up a sunset bike ride around the Bay Shore. The ride was so enjoyable, I found the time closing in on my reservation time at On Swann. So I pedaled to Hyde Park Village directly. I returned the bike and strolled around the area for a while, quite a happening scene. Concentrated area of nice lively open air bars and restaurants. At On Swann, a full restaurant, yet I was greeted by the hostess immediately. I had just settled into a comfy bar lounge chair with the cocktail menu, watching the action, when I was told my table was ready. I normally would have balked at the 2 top near the service area that i was guided to, but I was solo so settled in without a fuss. That table placement ended up being fortuitous because I was able to experience not only the entire dining room, but to also engage with the efficient and personable waitstaff. I started with The Butcher, a nice board of cured meats with pickled veggies ( capers, pickles, cauliflower and red onion) with a nice grainy mustard. I relished this while slowly sipping a Stranahans Old Fashioned. The entire menu was enticing, but I had worked up an appetite and craved something elemental. I ordered the dry aged burger which was served perfectly prepared t the requested rare side of medium rare. The beef was rich and minerally, but what made it memorable was how well the pimento cheese complemented it. This paired so well with the recommended Unholy Trippel from local brewer Coppertail. I struck up a nice conversation with my server Lise, who based on her personality and people skills, is destined to become an amazing registered professional nurse.

This is not only my new go to 5 Star restaurant for Tampa,FL but beats 99% of my go to 5 Star restaurants in cities like NYC, Chicago, San Francisco, Boston. From creative cocktails, to lucious appetizers, to simple yet colorful & bursting with exotic flavor profiles entrees, to non standard unique desserts, the food at this incredible Hyde Park restaurant is culinary art. And the servers dont just know the menu, they are "educated" on every single item of that menu, & even know the histories of the craft beer selections. I am Italian & had lamb meatballs in a ricotta sauce as an appetizer, that would make my Sicilian grandmother jealous. The kale salad had so many subtle flavor profiles in it, that each bite was a new taste definition for my pallette. And whoever would think mixing cobia with oysters & chirizzo sausage on a bed of creamy risotto would combine to make a perfect flavor festival, is genius. But even more impressive than the food & entire dining experience, is when I raved to our awesome server Kristine about the meals we had, the Head Chef & Co-owner of the restaurant came to our table, thanked us, & spoke to us for about 10 minutes, all when the restaurant was packed with customers. For some people a restaurant is just a business, but for the propieters of On Swann, this restaurant is a culinary creative passion. A perfect dining experience.

Weve been wanting to eat here for weeks but knew it gets packed and wasnt in Open Table. So to our surprise On Swann started two new things as of typing this. One, theyre on Open Table. Two, theyre serving lunch now (At least on the weekends). The ambience is similar to what a lot of these new modern/rustic places have been looking like. Our waiter was friendly, attentive, and had good recommendations. The Saffron Arancini reminded us of fried mac and cheese ball but with rice. The chicken sandwich was simple but very tasty. The potato chips it came with were very crispy but not oily at all. The Heirloom Salad was fresh and healthy. Heads up on it, its literally all tomatoes just different types. The Blueberry Cobbler was a good mix of sweet and tart and was topped with a vanilla gelato. Finally, my Honey Its Thyme was a refreshing Bourbon based cocktail. Were definitely returning here for a dinner meal.

My husband and I had a wonderful meal there. We started with "foie gras butter fig jam truffle financiers" as appetizer. It was absolutely delicious. It came with a small jar of foie gras butter with a layer of fig jam on top, and 4 small pieces of financiers. I literally finished whole jar of butter, which may not be so wise to do considering all the grease sitting in my stomach before I even started the entree. The two entrees (pork chop and scallop) were amazing! Its not easy to have two WOW dishes for both of us at one time. The pork chop was tender and flavorful (maybe because of the part of the meat connected to the bone?). The scallops were very tender too. It went so well with the creamy sauce, roasted Brussels sprouts, fried kale and bacon bites. This is definitely one of the fine restaurants to go in Tampa with very reasonable price.

Bartender came out of the bathroom without washing his hands. Our lunch took forever for the food to come out even though the restaurant was not busy at all. I ordered a chicken sandwich and they brought me a chicken salad instead. They offered to bring me the correct dish but, being how it took an hour to bring me the salad, I wasnt about to wait longer or have them slap something together quickly that would be poor quality. The server then offered to give us a gellato on the house which, guess what, took another 20 minutes to be brought to us. The salad was nothing to call home about and was way overpriced. I left hungry and disappointed.

Great food and atmosphere, and accommodating to young families! The staff is amazing, caring for your every need! Appetizers are delicious, the salads are fresh and creative, the cheese and meat boards are beautifully presented and filling. The main dishes are huge! Easily splitable between two people and deserts are the perfect end to the evening. Creative cocktails, fun beers, perfectly paired wines, and whiskey too! Well definitely be coming back! Also the owners are all so friendly and were managing the floor, it was an top notch experience!

Never actually got into the restaurant, but I called a week ahead to make reservations for 14 and was told the manager would contact me within a week to confirm my reservation was "approved". No one ever contacted me back to confirm the reservation, so I called the day before to confirm myself. They didnt have my reservation, nor did they have any record of me ever calling and giving my name for 14 people and I am certain I called them. Im not sure how they run the daily business, but this is completely unacceptable in my eyes.

A group of 11 of us were there last night, we were seated immediately and our server came right over with ,a SMILE. I have to say that her name is Georgette and when you go ,you couldnt do better. The drinks were great, who knew Titos even existed, wow what a great vodka, anyway we were served drinks and the most unusual appetizers, that are just over the top. Our dinners were outstanding and you absolutely must leave room for the gelato, it ended a really great meal with a delicious bang... Did I mention Georgette???
