Went the morning after a football game in town around 11 AM. The place was packed. Youd think they had never seen anything like this before. Waited an hour to get seated. Another 30 minutes to get our order taken. And finally another hour to get our food. Needless to say, this gave the staff a good 2.5 hours to provide an awful experience. Our waitress was completely inept and rude. I get the whole "Im a total hipster and Im too cool for you" persona, but it really doesnt work in an industry where the whole point is to kiss the customers rear end. I was lucky to get one refill of water out of her during the whole time. My burger was $9...and it didnt even come with lettuce and tomatoes...seriously? And while it was coined a "bbq burger" it didnt come with bbq sauce, and the waitress tried to charge me when I asked for some. I understand this is a locally owned joint, but why do they feel the need to rob you for every little thing on the menu? There was more than a enough business there to eliminate that excuse. I had asked for the red peppers included on my burger to be placed on the side...instead I got no red peppers at all, and was charged an extra dollar for this. Worst thing is, I left feeling completely unsatisfied regarding my appetite, just sick from all the grease. For some reason this is a really popular and unique college joint, but I just dont understand the appeal.

Weve been going to Monks since it opened after The Main Ingredient. Ive taken out of town friends here constantly... but no more. Their burgers are unique and quite good. But STAY AWAY FROM THEIR SANDWICHES AND ANY SAUCES. The cheese fries that Id bragged to my companions about... just room temp old fries and grated "cheddar" cheese product half melted. My club sandwich consisted of just two slices of bread, ONE sandwich thin slice of low-grade ham and ONE of similar turkey, and b/l/t. My friends turkey harvarti party sandwich was ONE slice of the crap turkey and some half-slice of havarti. If THIS didnt embarrass me to my friends (Im the chubby foodie of the group and my friends trust my recommendations)...as I finish my salsa n chips.. under the salsa in the cup... penne pasta! I ask the server about this unusual find. Her answer: "well, they sling all sorts of stuff around in the kitchen. Ill just have to ask them what they think theyre doing", laughed and walked off. How long was the pasta from where in there? How about cross-contaminations? If theyre slinging all sorts of stuff...what all else? And as were signing our checks (the service was of the 15% level)... my Jewish friend finds bits of bacon scattered in/under her sweet potato fries and under one half of her havarti party sandwich. I wont be back, she wont be back; you shouldnt go.

This is one of the regular places I go to eat with friends and family. One of the best burger and sandwich restaurants in town from my own experience. While their burgers tend to be the most promoted, I found the Sloppy Wodek, essentially pork sandwich, to be one of the best non-beef offerings. I also love their Tallahassee Club (I suggest substituting the regular mayo with horseradish mayo, gives an excellent bite to the club). The atmosphere is what you would expect for an excellent college town restaurant, very inviting. The prices are a little steep compared to what Im used to in my childhood home town, but not detrimentally so. The staff is another big bonus for the dining experience. Overall, I never have a had a bad experience at Wells Brothers (or when it was called Monks), excluding those times where it has been exceptionally busy, but that should be expected of a restaurant that does everything right.

Ive always enjoyed the food at Wells Brothers. However, seasoning Im seeing is becoming an issue. I ordered the triple onion burger, everything was cooked perfectly but it was severely lacking in spices and salt on the burger and the mushrooms and the onions. Before I got the burger, I got the cheese fries as an appetizer. I was a little disappointed with it. They need to at least mix the fries, ALL of the fries, in the melted cheese, so its not just the top layer getting the cheese and the rest are just plain fries that youre stuck with. Funnel cake was absolutely great, a little more powdered sugar and it would be miles better. Ive also ordered the Chicken Philly but with steak, dry as can be. Ill never order it again. But overall, I will comeback. I love the workers, the food, and the atmosphere; just have to up the seasoning game.

Passing through Tallahassee on our way to Florida, I did my best to stick to eating at non-chain restaurants on our road trip. We discovered Wells Brothers on Yelp, and were very happy with our choice to come here. Our server was AWESOME (unfortunately, Im terrible with names, so youll just have to trust that he is DEFINITELY real.) and gave good recommendations for the burgers to try. Im also terrible at remembering meals, especially when the meal Im referring to is two months prior, but I DO remember that I had a "Gator Hater" Burger and I am able to recall that it was fantastic. The tap list was pretty small, but they had some quality brews available. If Im ever back in Tallahassee, I will definitely return to this restaurant.

Creative menu - and, to my knowledge, one of the first (if not THE first) boutique burger joints in town. Broad range of burger configurations from which to choose - AND - theyll cook the burger to your liking (no amateur minimum levels). Indoor and outdoor seating. Outdoors, theres a great corn hole setup under the trees. Its nice as the speckled shade adds to the fun of the game. Front and back sections inside are a little cramped when this is a full house (which is frequent). Cook beers on tap and in bottles. Salad and chicken options are available- but this IS a burger joint after all. Visit the midtown caboose for the same level of burger quality (its run by the same guys (The Wells Brothers!)).

This is a review of the SERVICE I recieved. The food was decent. I went to this place on a Wednesday night and was treated terribly. Waitress trying to get us to pay and collect tip so she can leave, next waitress could care less. Made rude and snark comments. Tip for bar owners, stop hiring students who are more interested in leaving. Yeah we stayed a bit close to closing time, but we just wanted a pitcher of beer (ordered at 11:35pm). Waitress told us "Yeah, I guess I can sweep around you guys." WHAT THE HECK? I am telling all of my friends to stay away from this place! I have never felt to pressured to leave or uncomfortable.

My group of three waited well over an hour for our food to come out. Several tables received their food before ours did. After being told that our burgers would be out in a few minutes like four times...we were finally told that the kitchen lost our ticket. So they DIDNT EVEN START making our food until an hour after we sat down. When the food was finally served, my burger order was wrong...I brought this up to a manager and all he said was "sorry about that." Good food means nothing when your service is garbage. We paid $40+ for this ridiculous experience. Never going back...09/07/14
