Wife ordered 1/4 chicken and got the half chicken. Waiter never asked for dark meat or white, so we were fortunate he brought her dark meat. It was quite tasty. My daughter had pork and it was good, too. I ordered the BBQ Beef Plate... meat was way past well-done - way over cooked. So I told the waiter and he graciously asked if I wanted something else. So I asked for the 1/4 chicken plate. Again he never asked if I wanted white or dark meat. He brought the white meat, and it too was on the dry side. Plus, he never changed my bill. The peach cobbler dessert was way too thick and will stick to your teeth. Had never been here before and had heard great things from friends, But, my first impression of the food is not good. Hopefully I just caught them on a bad day. I did enjoy the cole slaw and cracklin corn bread.

OMG! This was the most delicious off-the-chart BBQ pork plate Ive had since last Years Memphis in May. The Brunswick stew is always a meal in itself, and Youll need 2-3 wedges of Cornbread for dipping in the stew. BTW, if anyone has better coleslaw; please share with Us because I aint found it. Only one minor negative: since Southern Pit is only open Wednesday-Saturday; would it hurt Your business to remain open until 10:00PM on Fridays & Saturdays? After all, the greater Griffin/Spalding county metropolitan area is growing and many of Us work nontraditional hours in outlying counties but We live in Spalding county, and the need for later serving hours is growing and would be appreciated.

Best BBQ of Southern Georgia if not all of Georgia Prices range from 7 to 13 for one person depending on what you want. Regardless of what you order youll definitely be satisfied. Best thing Ive tried here is the peach cobbler and the BBQ beef. Ribs are amazing and a ton too. Drinks are huge and the service is even better. No issues at all and very happy with it. Will be coming back! Ive been here for over 10 years and is a shame I did not know about it until now.

Southern Pit is an absolute staple in Griffin. Everyone you know eats here. Its a fun place to go with a lot of nice people and the decor on point. I take away a star because I just dont feel like this is some of the best BBQ Ive had. Its standard, it tastes good but its not wow in my opinion. That being said, I will keep on eating here, there is nothing bad about it at all.

Excellent BBQ, you can ask for unsauced Que if, like me you need gluten free sauce (many BBQ sauces have soy sauce made from a wheat base, Kikkomans, as an example). But the real treat here is the Brunswick Stew, best ive ever had in my life. Only peer would be Cary Hilliards back in the sixties. Truly outstanding.

They have lunch specials Wednesday through Friday. Great price for a variety of specials that included your drink. Cant go wrong for the price. I had the barbQ sandwich and fries. Best around this area. The fries were fresh cut fried to perfection. Service was outstanding. Stop here whenever I come through town..

The service pushes this from your standard three star bbq affair to a four star review. The food is average bbq. Nothing great but its good. The service is near perfect though. Fast refills, very friendly and willing to bring the reorders for all you can eat meals.

This place is one of those places that you stumble upon & are glad you ate there. Their lunch plates give you great tasting food in great portions, and its not expensive. They have a model train that rolls across the ceiling of the dining area.

Best Bbq youll get in Griffin and surrounding areas. Absolutely delicious but its expensive as bbq normally is but it is rather slow. Went in one time and had to wait 20ish minutes after the scheduled time for it to be ready.

I love their barbecue sauce and chopped pork, but not as much as I love their cole slaw. I dont care for their fries or Brunswick stew. I also didnt care for the smoked turkey my husband ordered for Thanksgiving.

kept telling me its the best gotta go.....it was ok....Ive had way better in atlanta, lithonia, or just bout any where, I have not had any other ribs in Griffin to compare to,so maybe its the best down here..idk

Used to live very close to Southern Pit and ate there often. Now I live in Kentucky and when I come back to Georgia I always have to stop in and eat and bring Brunswick stew home.

Sauce was terrible. Buns are straight from a bag and should have been toasted to keep from getting completely soaked. Tender pork and fast service but overall tourist trap.
