We are new to Ocala and live in close proximity to Horse and Hound and really want to like the food but after two visits, its a no-go. First visit was on Monday night for the Prime Rib special. The meat was tough and sinewy but we figured that could have been an anomaly. However, on this second visit, I wanted to enjoy the Shepards Pie which is described as "A hearty mixture of ground beef, prime rib and vegetables with a thick gravy. topped with mashed potatoes, mixed cheeses and served with garlic toast. enjoy it with a guinness stout!" Well, the gravy was missing, the mashed potatoes were almost non-existent and the vegetables were just a few peas with a wisp of carrots. Plenty of ground beef, prime rib and smothered with cheese. Oh, and the garlic toast is a mini-sub roll with garlic and butter. I just cant imagine giving it a third try, too bad, I really wanted to like this place. Two stars as the staff is always pleasant.

My first experience here was last week. The food was good and the atmosphere was also fun. The manager that we met was also very friendly. Now. Our waitress was very polite but for lack of a better word was a bit flighty. We ordered an appetizer twice or three times and it never came out until our entire table was done with our dinner. She kept forgetting we ordered it haha she forgot we ordered drinks and refills a couple times as well. The wait was a bit long for food however there was a large crowd of people in there that night. Definitely will try again despite the confused waitress.

Bad!!! First time there.... menus were dirty hair and food in them. Two rounds of baked potatoes had obviously been sitting in the oven for about 3 hrs too long....my sons burger was supposed to be medium and it was literally raw. The one we brought home tasted like freezer burnt meat or cheese I cant figure out which. The waitress did not care one bit about any of it and never even saw a manager. $67. Crazy prices for cafeteria food. All weekend spent $100 or more for every meal and it was all 5 star amazing. Horse and Hound we will never be back.

We had a great time! My wife and I came here and really enjoyed the rustic horse people atmosphere. We had the brie and the Angus beef tips - which were excellent (sauce was VERY good). Then we split the lamb and had the banana cake w/ice cream for dessert and Brandy with coffee. Amanda, our server, was excellent, friendly and attentive. Most fun Ive had at a restaurant in a long time ... and no we dont work for the owners or know them from Adam, but we WILL be back!! Fun place!!

Enjoyed outside seating on a very pleasant eveming. We requested selerate checks, which we were told would be done bit that we would need more servers. It turned put our server handled our group of 6 (3 checks) smoothly. Had the prime rib sandwhich which came with a large slice of prime rib on a hoagie roll, lettuce & tomato with a side. (I declined horseradich sauce). My side was mushy peas, which was a tasty mash of green peas. This is a satisfying stop while visiting Ocala.

This place is what I would chalk up as "chill posh" with a baseball cap twist. The menu is a clear nod to all things Anglia, and the service is as understated as would be expected. Dad had fish/chips. Respectable rendering. Son had seared Ahi, Daughter had (shocker) coconut shrimp. I had what I know to best the best of the lot - a Guinness based beef stew. Ill definitely make this the lunch stop southbound from TLH on ALT 27.

This is one of the worst place I have eaten at. They must make up there own reviews. I took my mom for mothers day dinner. We all got something different and we all got sick. The food was horrible, The building was old and dirty, The prices were high and the server seemed like she didnt want to be there. I have never posted anything about a restaurant but felt I must on this place. Save some time and money and go some where else.

I thought It was going to be more up scale than it was. and for the prices it should have been but it was not. Got dressed up to go out on a special night out with my wife but found people in t shirts in shorts. We were sat in the dark corner of the restaurant, there were issues with the service as well. The manager tried to make it right but the damage was done. we went out and had dessert elsewhere

This place is terrible. They might have had a good thing going at one time but it is one of the worst places to eat. The regulars go here because the choices on this side of town are limited to say the least. The service is slow and the food is poorly prepared. They will need to figure out who they are and who they want to cater to and build in that - right now they are all over the board.

We were traveling with two dogs and read online that we could take them there. The hostess didnt bat an eye when we told her we had them and seated us outside. The waitress was great, and she was great with the dogs. She brought a to go tray and filled it with water for them to drink while we ate. The food was delicious! Ill definitely go back when Im in the area.

Quaint pub and eatery, service was excellent! The bartender made an excellent Long Island Iced Tea. Appetizers, we had escargot which was outstanding & very large snails, steaks for entrees, and sticky pudding for dessert. Steak was okay Ive had better but very impressed that everythings cooked to order. We will be back for the Sashimi tuna app.

On a trip to nowhere came across this place. Cozy little joint with a fair atmosphere, table placements a little odd. Food? Wouldnt come back again (dont order the French dip) but our waitress Abigail was very awesome, shes the only reason I give it 3 stars.

Food is hit or miss, I personally didnt like the fish and chips. Shepherds pie is great! Prices on menu vary greatly so there is something for everyone. Some of the wait staff is snotty but if you ask for Amelia she will take great care of you!

I have eaten several meals there and all were delicious. Love their martinini specials and the nice atmosphere. Everything I have seen has been clean, well prepared and served in a normal amount of time considering the crowd it was drawing.

Great food, fair prices and excellent service. We will remember this one next time we are in Ocala, a winner! Two of us had patty melt and third had shepherds pie. I had cup of potato soup which was just wonderfully creamy and flavorful.
