Drove 15 mi to get there after reading the good reviews. Unfortunately, it is my worst Indian restaurant experience. We went for the weekend buffet. Very limited selection. That is 8 main dishes. There is a salad, some dressings and sauces in the side. There is also a milk based item that is called "desert." Among the main dish choices, there is plain Basmati rice, two chicken dishes, a lamb dish, chicken tandoori, and several vegetarian dishes. I usually prefer the meet based dishes, so that is what I selected first. I had rice, chicken and peppers, lamb curry and a piece of chicken tandoori. The chicken tandoori was awful. I thought that Tandoori involves some type of grilling. This was done in an oven and tasted worst then any oven cooked chicken I have ever had. I usually try to empty my plate; I could not finish the "tandoori" chicken piece. The lamb and chicken and pepper were not flavorful at all. They were also not spicy at all. I went for smaller helpings for the second plate. I tried three vegetarian dishes. They tasted better than any of the non-vegetarian dishes. Since I did not come there to just eat vegetarian, this cannot affect my rating of the restaurant. Let me finish adding that the service was minimum at best. They barely uttered a word, sitting the whole time at one of the tables where one of them was eating something that was not out of the buffet menu. Moreover, when one of the customer asked for a plate to try the desert, she pointed a micro dish to him explaining that it is the dish that was meant to be used for the desert. I am not exaggerating when I say micro dish. The dish is appropriate for sauces and the likes but not for the desert that was there. She then reluctantly walked into the kitchen to walk back out a couple of minutes later with a bowl. When she did not find the customer still waiting at the buffet, she went ahead and returned to bowl to the kitchen.

Ate here on August 8,2017. This place will never last. They are way , way , way to expensive. You get a little bowl of rice , and a little bowl of some kind of meat with a bunch of sauce on it. The meat was about four little tiny cubes !! The bread which is nothing more than flour , they soak ya 4.00 !! And theres only a few pieces in the basket. There wasnt anybody in the place. Now I know why !! When you ask for tea , your given a little small cup , instead of a pot , and they charge 4.00 a cup !!! Our bill was 70.00 !!! We left hungry and unsatisfied !!! A hungry man would not do well here. We kept asking for paper napkins , which never came !! Theres one bathroom back in the back closet....shared by both male and female. Theres signs not to use your cell phone....while their kid sits at a table on her cell phone. This place will never make it. We wont go back there.

It took ten minutes for someone to greet our table and take a drink order. When the server arrived to work she talked with the hostess, and showed her a new shirt that she brought in with her, she disappeared then finally came to our table. During this time no one else acknowledge us. There was one other table in there, and the hostess went to their table three times. The owner sat us, and didnt give us menus. I had to ask for them. Our server was very kind. Our apps were cold, she never asked how everything was, nor did the owners. My husband enjoyed his meal while I found my vegetable korma to be bland. All and all, it was an average, at best, experience.

I recently dined here. The service was exceptional. I was unsure as to what I initially wanted - however the staff was very patient and pleasant. I ended up trying multiple entrees and even placed a to-go order! The food was very flavorful and the presentation was very elegant. I am now spreading the word to others who either love Indian food, or are in the mood to excite their tastebuds, to visit Shiva in Mt. Dora. My mouth is watering now on how adroitly they combined their flavor profiles. Maybe Ill stop in tonight for dinner!

Shiva Indian Restaurant in Mount Dora is an authentic Indian Restaurant that serves buffet for lunch and regular menu for dinner. I love love love the food here. The flavors are exotic, aromatic and mysterious all at the same time. 2 items I would recommend for Dinner: 1. Garlic Naan 2. Butter Chicken Although I personally find the amount of food small compared to Mexican dishes this could be a cultural thing based on the presentation of when the food is brought out, similar to Korean dishes.

First time I came I got chicken curry, definitely not my favorite once Ive tried lamb korma and chicken tika masala!! The flavors of the chicken tika masala were amazing so glad the young server suggested that I try it. Service is great food is great and I always have leftovers for a midnight snack. Prices went up by a tiny bit but its definitely because theyve added more things on the menu like the ananas/pineapple chicken that Ive ordered as takeout (really good)

Amazing Indian food and nothing like it in this area! Weve order aloo tiki, chicken tikka masala, kadia paneer, tandoori chicken, chili chicken, peshwari naan and keema naan. It was all so good and didnt leave anything! Although the restaurant was small it was beautiful on the inside and great service. The price is average considering the downtown Mount Dora location. Well be back again and again.

Intimate family owned Indian restaurant serving authentic Indian cuisine in the hear of Mount Dora. The chef owner is French trained. The kitchen was equipped at considerable expense with authentic tandoori ovens. The convenient location in Mount Dora means you can make a trip of it. After dinner or lunch, you can stroll quaint downtown Mount Dora and visit the nearby shops, pubs, and bakeries.
