Good, plentiful, inexpensive food. The perfect "Trio"! This is the best "Inexpensive Chinese" food that weve been able to find about a 25 mile radius of Mandarin. Weve tried 14 so far. We look for 4 special things in our "Go-to Chinese" restaurant: #1 Decent Food. (We dont like excessive amounts of sugar in the sauces and glazes.... and we look for different dishes to "Taste Different". You dont want Sesame Chicken, Orange Chicken, and General Chicken to all taste identical like "Candied Chicken". It doesnt have to be "AMAZING". Well settle for Good. And, China Garden is above average!). #2 Plentiful Portions (We like it when portions are big enough to split between two people, or enough is left over for a 2nd meal or snack. China Garden has good portions.) #3 Low prices ($4-8 for common dishes -- no more than $11 for "Chef Specials". China Garden is about the least expensive Chinese Restaurant that weve found -- the prices are stuck in the last decade!) #4 Hole-in-the-wall Ambiance (We look for those generic carry-out places with the 2-3 tables that nobody ever uses, the same back-lit florescent pictures above the counter, the nearly identical 4-fold menu, and the beat-up cooler in the corner. Of the many restaurants that weve tried, you probably couldnt tell the interior of one from another if you were shown pictures!) Of the 14 Chinese Restaurants that weve tried, weve only found two other mention able contenders -- but they are more expensive and use more sugar. The contenders? "Bamboo Wok" on Bertram Park Blvd is more expensive and favors sugar a little more. "Lucky Garden" in St. Augustine Beach in Anastasia Plaza is similar but its 30 minutes away and more expensive. China Garden is a great little neighborhood Chinese Restaurant with good food, low prices and fair portions. Its more "out of the way" than most of the competition, but this is the place to go if you are somewhat cheap and want something pretty good. What did we like? So far.... Sesame Beef. Egg Fu Young. Chef Special Lo Mein Noodles. Weve only eaten there 3 times so far, but this is the place that goes into the "Weekly rotation" of inexpensive restaurants.

Beware! Dont be fooled by the fake reviews. This is the Most disgusting horrible Chinese food Ive ever eaten. I ate one bite of my sesame chicken and had to throw it away because it was so nasty. It was Not real chicken at all instead nasty mush inside like it had been sitting out all day. Oh the family of owners were there though eating at the table. I bet they probably cooked their food fresh bc mine sure wasnt. I guess they value their own food over the customers smh

Been to a lot of Chinese restaurants in Jacksonville that were all disgusting! I really wanted some good Chinese food. I came across the reviews for this place and had to try it! It was amazing! Food was fresh! Pork Fried Rice Amazing! Burbon Chicken Amazing! Cheese Wontons Amazing! & my Wonton Soup Amazing! Never judge a book by its cover! The place of town it is in ehh, but i was in and out and on my way back home with amazing Food!

Two stars because food was edible. However, dumplings were burnt on one side, not very flavorful. Hot and sour soup was neither hot nor sour. Sesame chicken was more savory than usual sweet sauce. Lemon chicken was heavily breaded versus most places and the sauce was thick and not very lemony. If closer would give a second chance to try additional items. Again, edible, but not worth the drive for me. Will keep looking.

We just moved to a neighborhood close to here and recently ordered. It was DELICIOUS! And so AFFORDABLE! Obviously Chinese food is usually cheap, but this was the most inexpensive I have ordered in years... and honestly, better than anything Ive ordered in Jax (Ive lived here for about 6 years). The staff are friendly and quick with delivery. Dont listen to the one star reviewer... he must have had a bad day :)

This is THE BEST Chinese food weve ever had delivered! The delivery guy is VERY nice (he waves when he goes by our apt when delivery to our neighbor), VERY clean and tidy. The food is ALWAYS hot. I will never order from another place! My husband and I would give this place 100 stars if we could!! also..theyre very fast! I dont have anything negative to say!! ORDER HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Great food at a great price. I have yet to find a Chinese restaurant down south that beats Philly or New York "Chinese-American" food, but this comes close. I would give this 5 stars, but they REALLY need to change their oil more often. All of my fried food (which was either pork or chicken) had a SUPER strong after-taste of seafood, very unpleasant but an easy fix.

Always hot, fresh, and fast! I order at least three times a month and have never been disappointed in these last seven years. I might venture out and try the others...MISTAKE every time. My favorite dish is their ribs..bone-in or out. It doesnt matter. I really am sad that Im moving to the west side and out of delivery range. BUT trust me, Ill be back.

This place is amazing! Hole in the wall, yes. Great Chinese food, oh yes! I ate here when I moved to Jacksonville in March and have returned often. I usually order the bean curd vegetable and vegetable lo mein. Man, oh man, so nice. If you go at night, the neon sign is red and so is the background paint the sign is in front of.

The second worst chinese I have ever had. Soaked in oil not to temp. The lo mein tasted burnt, the meat was mushy and had a feted taste. The crab Rangoon was mostly Rangoon with no crab. The dumplings would have been okay if they werent soaked in fri oil. The worst 40 bucks Ive ever spent!

Last rated China Garden 6 years ago and the Food is still sensational, the employees are the best I have ever interacted with. I have been eating at China garden for the last 10 years, at least twice a month sometimes more.Its always fast, hot and delectable.

I would give zero stars if I could teriyaki chicken didnt have teriyaki sauce on it , as well as the fried rice was rubber like in texture and did not taste the way I expected . Would not recommend.
