My friend and I attended this establishment to relax, sit, and have a drink and maybe some dessert, unfortunately that was ruined by the terrible service we received from our waittress named Mary. We were sitting in the front patio area taking our time deciding what we wanted to get. Mary came by 3 times to check and see if we were ready to order, each time getting ruder (clearly she was frustrated with us). The 4th time around we asked if there was a time limit to sit there and order something because we figured we could take our time since there were several open tables around us and the establishment really wasnt busy. Mary notified us that because this was a restaurant we needed to order something otherwise there were benches across the street that we could sit on and occupy. Upon her response I proceeded to order sweet potato fries. She placed the order and left. Angry and irritated with her attitude and service we decided to get up and leave. Mary then followed us around the corner and yelled "HERES YOUR BILL!" I told her that I would not give this establishment my money due to the rude service I was receiving. She then threatened to get the cops and I asked to speak to her manager. We explained the situation to Gio, the manager, and he understood (much to Marys disapproval), and then he explained that the servers are instructed to check on their tables every 5 minutes until they order (due to loitering) which we understood and thus why I ordered the fries. Our issue was the service. So its unfortunate that I needed to write this especially since I have frequented this restaurant many times but based on our experience with Mary I will no longer be eating here.

My girlfriend and I were very excited to check out News Cafe after getting some positive feedback from a few people. Within a minute or two, we were seated at an outside table overlooking the walk. From there, it took about five minutes to have our drink order taken, and another five minutes to receive our drinks. I ordered a drink fairly common in Miami, but it was clear their interpretation of "Cafe con Leche" was not the same as the rest of the city. Instead, I got a regular cup of coffee, and when I inquired the waiter assured me it was the correct drink. Soon after that, our server took our menus without provocation and without taking even an appetizer order. For at least 10 minutes after that, the server was nowhere to be found. At least 20 minutes had passed and we had no menus, one wrong drink, no food, and most importantly, not an iota of attention from our waiter. We sent another waiter to find the gentleman to no avail. Finally, we had enough and decided to pay for the one drink the waiter got right, and find another place to eat. I cant comment on the food because we never got that far. Overall, we were horrified at the lack of service and courtesy at News Cafe, especially given the hype and cost.

Our family went yesterday for breakfast and was so disappointed with the food and overall upkeep of the place (track lights hanging over our food on the table absolutely filthy with hanging bits of dirt and much worse - filthy a/c vents also over our table dripping dirty water from the vents onto our table - such a public health hazard we cant believe they havent been shut down). French toast was hard as cardboard - totally substandard. We recommend you give this "famous" place a big miss - whatever standards they might have had years ago are long gone - its now just a cheap and nasty tourist trap.

you dont come to the news cafe for the food, which certainly isnt bad but not exactly imaginative either. one will find the standard pasta dishes, sandwiches, and bar food on the menu, though the cuban sandwich was a disappointment last time we visited. yet we never come to south beach without spending hours at this establishment. located right on ocean drive and in the heart of where all the action is, this is the ideal place to pull up a chair, sip on mojitos, and people-watch all day long. for the night owls, this place is open late, and weve witnessed a few sunrises from here as wel

Yuk! Yuk! Yuk! My food tasted like a science project that went wrong! It gives me the chills thinking about their cooking process. My food was cold when they served it to me and when I complained, the waiter did apologize. I read someone elses review and thought they were exaggerating when they said the food was bad but theyre not lying. The staff were polite but service was incredibly slow for it not being packed. I didnt pay for the meal because I asked for a refund. They didnt give me cane about it. Which is why I gave them 2 stars instead of one.

A must, very accomodating. The staff super friendly. They should give the cook a raise ordered the Grilled chicken with portabella mushrooms, spinach, tomatoes and mashed potatoes. The whole meal was bursting with flavors. Chicken Stir-fry I was able to taste each individual vegetable. Something that i have not experiance Up-North. The portions where big. Dont forget the Key-Lime pie. Its open 24hrs. The American coffee is strong. Went for breakfast the next day and it not disappoint. My go to spot from now on when im in South-Beach.

Amazing place to go if you have a layover in Miami as I did. Open 24 hours, perfect to get an early breakfast or a late dinner. I was there for an early breakfast which was delicious and included a free magic sunrise over the ocean. What a way to start a day. And as it is one of the seldom places in the US where you can linger a bit I also tried their salad (the greek one) - huge and yummie. I definitely will be back. Oh, and not to forget to mention the staff, as they have been very friendly and accommodating. A huge thank you!

FREE helpings of attitude! Eat here once to say youve done it and dont come back. Ive been here many times, and today will be the last. My breakfast special included tea or coffee, and juice. I declined the juice. I opened the bag of English Breakfast tea and dropped it in hot water. The server *then* told me that my special includes Lipton tea, not whatever she brought before, and Id have to pay extra or change the tea. REALLY? How much does a tea bag cost that youd give a customer that kind of experience!?
