Bayard Cafe is a small local place and family owned, which is wonderful. The fare varies from typical diner offerings to fresh, healthy options to daily special entrees, and all desserts are homemade. Weekend mornings (especially Sunday) tend to be very busy, so be prepared to wait a bit. Lunch is usually steady but not so crowded that you have to wait long, if at all. The service is excellent and so is the food. You can pop in for a quick bite or stay a while and have a leisurely meal. Oh, and free wifi! I have become a regular of the Bayard Cafe. A dear friend loves it so I first visited with her about a year ago and it was nice, but unimpressive. However, I went again with about 6 people about 2 months later and was very impressed - great service, great food, and they accommodated our party (its a smaller cafe) without trouble. After that, I started coming at least once a month, and now its often a stop more than one time a week. After about three visits they had my order memorized and greet me as soon as I walk in the door with my drink! Its a very comfortable place with wonderful people, and I highly recommend it.

Inconsistent. We no longer go there. When we did go, wed sometimes have an excellent breakfast, but other times it would not be. We tried dinner there only once though and that was fine. I had the chicken and waffles and my guest had the chicken dinner with mash and green beans. Back to breakfast: The very last time we got served huge slices of tomatoes along side of our eggs. It was unpleasant when one of the huge chunks was the round (unpleasant) part of the tomato that is supposed to be discarded (not served). On a personal note, I think that the owner may be a little "uncomfortable" towards minoritys. He was greeting tables and was quite professional with the tables close to ours. When he got to our table, he suddenly was the "hippest" talking person in the restaurant. It kinda made us feel uncomfortable. Either way, it is the inconsistency of the quality of food that ultimately prompted us to no longer dine at Bayard.

I was looking forward to this restaurant, it is cute inside but thats where the compliments end and the nightmare begins... We stood for 5 mins wondering where to sit and how to order & received blank stares from the employees. Finally we sat ourselves at a random table and patiently waited for 10 mins before anyone helped us. When they helped they were very rude and talked down to us when asking questions about the menu. Our waitress had almost no knowledge about the menu and food selections and got annoyed if we asked any questions. A lot of the menu items were not even available.. so we had to reorder after waiting for 10 more mins. After waiting 15 more mins to get our food cooked we got it and it was sub par. The veggie wrap was inedible, the quiche was cold and the fries were dry and bland. Do not go here unless you want to flush your money away

This is a "mom and pop type" owned restaurant with great service. Owners are very friendly! Food is really good, but the best thing I have had so far is the Coconut Cake! This is by far the best cake I have ever had! Ok I had to go back and change my original rating. The coconut cake is still awesome, but I would really like to have more. I have called a few times and tried to email and it seems like it is not available. It is always being made that night. My email request for a special order cake went unanswered. I just called during business hours and there wasnt answer. I might try one more time, but soon I will give up and not be a returning customer. I really like to see Mom and Pop shops do well, so I hope they get their kinks worked out soon.

I just had a really bad experience when going there to get my breakfast order this morning. We previously called to place it in, and I asked for extra toasts instead of fries or grits. An employee named Kristy told me that we couldnt do that and never mentioned that it had an extra charge. We went there last friday and I easily got my extra order of toasts without an extra charge, the owner (sweet lady) explained to me that it was an extra charge for it and I was ok with that, but didnt have enough time to wait for it. Too bad that a nice restaurant has such as uninformed employees or maybe just people that doesnt like to do their job right. Never coming back again.

Favorite breakfast place in Jax!! Find other reviews hard to believe bc the staff here are second to none. They are always friendly and yes, funny too. God forbid someone has a personality to go with great service?!? Food is very reasonably priced...you would spend more at Dennys. The waffles with fresh fruit are great...home fried potatoes are cut fresh and cooked with green peppers and onions. Loved the biscuit with gravy also. I dont eat burritos so cant comment on those but my husband gets one every time. We go in for breakfast during peak time and have never spent more than 45 minutes from time we got in until we left. LOVE this place!

Was told there was a 10 minute wait. We waited about 10 minutes standing.(me, my wife and 2 children) 2 people walked in and seated themselves before us bc they said they had a party of 5 coming. When asked why we were not seated, i was told they didnt think about asking them to get up. I asked to speak with the manager about the situation and was told she was to busy to talk at the time. I left my name and number and never heard from anyone. So you can bet the majority of these 5 stars are from friends. I will never go back and wouldnt recommend making the drive to this unprofessional establishment.

I find most of these reviews quite hilarious. It goes to show the staff at Bayard cafe have a lot of family members. The breakfast burrito has no flavor. The staff thinks their funny and attractive. They are neither. The service was strange. I think they prefer regulars. Which is strange because Bayard is home to about 20 people. The food is way over priced and the coffee is terrible. Basically its like hooters with no one attractive working there. Dont waste youre money. Youre much better off going to a place like Metro diner for the money . The staff is extremely rude

I went through the drive through, (a window) and people continuously passed by me until a lady says, "can I help you?" I said "this is where you put in drive through orders right?" She replies, "I guess." As if she doesnt want to help me at all. Then acts upset and says, "youre going to have to get out of the car youre too far away." She could have easily reached, I didnt get anything. I kindly said -thank you have a nice one. Disrespectful staff, not going back.

I came in here a few weeks ago with my friend and our babies. The place was crowded but not a long wait for a table. I ordered the eggs benedict, it was pretty delicious. It did take awhile for us to get our food, almost an hour so that was a little inconvenient. The server wasnt as attentive as we would like but its a small restaurant so we let it slide. I would recommend this place since its affordable and have a variety of breakfast items.
