I heard about this restaurant before it opened and was wanting to try it as well as my co-workers. They were open for a little bit and despite the 2 star reviews and what they say we still decided to try it. That being said I called for a take out order, the phone rang endlessly so we tried again and still got no answer. I drove 10 minutes to get there, once i arrived there were many people and a good atmosphere but as I waited for my food to be ready things seemed to pick up in a not so good way, I could sense hostility between workers and the way they were operating. So I received my food and went back to work to eat lunch, when I got to work we were missing one of our four meals. So I left and went back because they dont answer there phones. When I arrived the second time my co-worker informed me that their burger was really undercooked. I asked for a manager and spoke with him, he seemed aggravated about my complaint and asked me multiple times what was wrong with the rest of the food. It felt really awkward/hostile standing there as they tried to find my receipt in their system. I did receive a refund. While talking to the manager someone behind me had ordered and got a Cuban sandwich. The customer complained to the waiter about it not being pressed and the cuban bread wasnt buttered. The waiter responded with he doesnt know how Cubans are made and the customers response was neither does the cook. I will not be back, go at your own risk.

If you cant tell what kind of people run this place by the way they reply to criticism, then somethings wrong with you. My husband worked for these people for a year, helped redo the entire diner. He is a builder. Once the diner opened, they forcefully made him work inside in order to have a job. He obliged considering he has a family to care for. They put him to make sandwiches with no previous cook experience and not even a laminated piece of paper explaining what goes on what. When he got fed up with slowing everyone down and having order after order come back to him, with no one telling him how to fix it, he walked out. Greg was completely un-understanding (not what any boss should be), and only cared about himself and how hurt he was. As a manager. I wouldve considered the amount of times I was told that this wasnt cut out for him. As someone who worked hard to please Greg for a year, I too would be a little upset at the amount of disrespect a friend gives to another friend. Other than the main guy, this place isnt so bad. I wouldnt recommend it because the owner is always there, but if you could get in on his off day, or with just Paul, you might get a decent meal.

The concept of the establishment is adorable and the location is great. Unfortunately, the employees seem to be extremely inexperienced. They are not well organized, long waits for a check, food does not come out together and we did not get what we ordered for side orders, some food was cold, etc. They need to hire and train. Perhaps ordering some cute little retro outfits and pony tails would be a great start on some experienced waitresses. This would go a log way. On another review the owner stated he has hired specifically based on "employment need" which is admirable but is also going to be the demise of his establishment. The food was not the best but it could be easily improved.I worked my way through grad school in hospitality and my husband is a hospitality manager so we know the restaurant business. ( And as the owner indicated below, I have absolutely zero interest in a job but that was good for a laugh I was simply suggesting I had previous experience in hospitality in grad school) From the reviews, it seems the owner is not open to hearing some of the suggestions and I suspect the venue will be gone within 6 months. Its a shame, because it has potential.

I sent a email to the owners who theaten me to wrote a email to them saying i lied about my review and made me take down if i wanted my son to work for them. I refused because my review was truthful. The food is poor quality. The burgers are greasy. The waitresses a sadly lacking. Poor managent and arrogant owners constant staff changes the 3 months they have been open. They treat their staff horrible including any customers who complain. They delete complants on their facebook page and threaten people who write a bad review on any other sites. I refuse to be threatened or bullied. I will make it my mission to let everyone know that no one who as a pallet should eat here or let these owners threaten or bully people so they wont write the truth about their restaurant. They had to take down their web site due to so many bad reviews. You cant put lip stick on a pig. They are opening another restaurant in clearwater beware.

5 stars isnt enough for a rating in my opinon. Last night, my husband, myself, and our son went to the Route 66 Diner for the first time. It has quickly, and easily become one of our new favorite places. For only being open for 4 days, and this is just the soft opening, it seems like they pretty much have everything together. Of course, Im sure there were, and will be some hiccups along the road, what do you expect when its a brand new restaurant. With that being said, Ive never walked into a restaurant, diner, mom and pop shop, and felt so welcomed and at home, the second that I walked in. You just dont see that too much anymore. It has that old school diner feel, from the look, inside and out, to the food, even to the condiment bottles on the table. Its excellent. Also, I forgot to point out how AFFORDABLE it is. For three full meals and drinks, we spent $24 before tip. This place is going to do AMAZING!!!

Wanted to try the diner, so 4 of us went for the first time. The staff was very friendly. The food was OK, nothing special. Out of the 3 Hamburgers, one was cooked properly, the other two were overcooked. Not worth sending back, but nice to get it the way you order it. I wanted to try the ribs, but I guess its only when they make them, so I missed out. I also wanted the meat Loaf which was on the special board. They were out of Meatloaf at 2pm. so I settled for the BBQ sandwich. The sandwich was good. We all agreed the fries were nothing special. Ill try the place again IF Im in the area. Two of us drove 40 min and the other two over an hour to try Route 66. I appriciate the response from the owner. I will definitely come back for the meatloaf. Thank you for the offer of the free meal. I will gladly pay, I believe in keeping the the money flowing so a business can thrive.

Came here today with my fiance. We have been wanting to come for a quite a while because it just looks so cool from the outside. I am glad we finally made it because the inside is awesome as well - as is the food and service! I got the fried shrimp basket and it was the perfect sized shrimp. I hate when places serve mostly breading - this place has the perfect amount of breading + shrimp! The fries were very good not your usual fries and same with the cole slaw. I got sick of cole slaw a while ago but I loved it here! Very finely chopped and delicious. My fiance got the biscuits and grave and bacon and he loved his meal as well. I cant wait to come back and I definitely have to bring my grandma here because of the look and feel of the atmosphere. Thanks for the good food! When I come back I have to try the desserts and a root beer float! How could you not in at a place like this!?
