Wonderful experience! A nautical experience to have again - Shima is a conveyor belt sushi restaurant with an aquatic twists, the dishes are placed on boats rushing around a stream and into your stomach. They use colours and patterns to differentiate between prices and types of dishes. They have a main menu as well but the main attraction are the boat dishes. ★★★★☆ For the food The special dishes were good but the sushi was not the best Ive had in Miami; they also had an issue with the types of sushi given out as mostly made the more expensive plates. This not only being about the price but I enjoy the California Roll and only saw it going around once. While yes I can easily order it, it is rather exciting to see the little Cali-born Maki traverse the waves. ★★★★☆ For the Price Plates were relatively inexpensive but Ive had better sushi for the same price. ★★★★★ For the Service The personnel was nice and helpful at all times, even though they seem to always be moving around. ★★★☆☆ For the Setting and Location The place is tiny and seems a bit run down. the boat arena piece had tiles that looked like they were about to fall off and the underside of the top counter (above the water) was rather dirty. I think a change in location would really help this place out. All in all, it was a nice experience. But the gimmick of boat sushi isnt enough to save this place from its faults. The service is what really pushed it for the 4th star. If you go, I recommend the curry and the special boat dishes are rather good.

I just got kicked out of this place. Today we went early at 6pm for a fathers day celebration so the whole family went, with our young children. My 3 year old son is a very picky eater so I always pack him dinner, drinks (a juice mix that they dont sell) and some snacks. The rest of us (5 adults and a 6 years old) ordered food and drinks from the restaurant. First they come and tell me I need to take away my sons juice, which I did. Then I gave him some corn pops and they come and tell me again they he cannot eat his cereal in the restaurant. I have to rip the container out of my sons hand which he did not understands. At this point we have already ordered $120 worth food and were not even finish ordering. Before taking away his snack he was just quietly sitting and eating and well behaved. My husband and I have been coming to this place for years and have always bring our children. I have brought my son home cooked food and snacks to this place for no less than five times and was never told that I cant. We have to leave mid-meal because my son is teary and hungry. I can see very well that this restaurant is packed with customers and wont feel any pain losing my business. Kicking us out by bullying my three year will free up the table for other customers. If picking on loyal customer and small children will make you more money, you can take your money and go to h@#$!!

Walked in as a first time diner and immediately noticed the worn out, sticky carpeting on the floor. I didnt think too much of it until i went to the restroom to find a dirty, rundown, gas station-like restroom. They had just opened (6pm), and the toilet paper was already empty and a couple rolls were stacked right on the tank of the toilet. Do they expect diners to swap out the empty rolls themselves?! The corners of the restroom were black, from grime. At this point i decided there was no way i could even consider eating at this place. Regardless of how good the food is, there is no reason to have a rundown dining establishment. I am in no way being dramatic or snobby, But i know nasty when I see it. When I came out to meet my boyfriend at our table, I told him what the condition of the restroom and general layout was and he agreed that we should leave. I was prepared to spend at least 50-75 dollars on this dinner, too bad the look of the place made me lose my appetite before we had a chance to try their food.

Me encanto!!!

It was my first time coming to this place with my friend recently. The place is rather small, but has a comfortable atmosphere. The employees are extremely nice and friendly from the moment you walk through the door. Though I wasnt satisfied with how the actual place was kept, from the sticky floors and sort of worn out tables, it wasnt too distracting. Now as for the food itself, this was my first time tasting sushi and every dish was to die for! The food was delicious and its presentation was fantastic! Especially with their bar that is constantly serving new dishes by their chefs. I would definitely recommend if you want to try something new, different, and cheap.

This is 1 of only 2 go to spots for sushi and Japanese food for me and my boyfriend. Ive been coming here for about 5 maybe 6 years and I never get tired of it. The food is amazing, both the sushi and the entrees. I wait in anticipation for the dessert! Save room because its delicious! The ambiance is great, its quiet and relaxing, its really nice inside (I loved the new stream that brought your sushi over when it just opened). For the great food and experience, its not a bad price. Ive been to other places that charged a ton more and the food was definitely not as flavorful :/ I highly recommend this place. I love it - never get tired of it

An amazing hole in the wall with great flavor! The sushi is consistent in terms of looks and flavor. They have their sushi on boats floating on a little "stream" each boat carrying a different dish. If you really like something and dont see it on any of the boats (or you were too slow!) you can ask the waiters to get you what you want. They have awesome desserts and a great ambiance. Tea is complimentary. Edit: Pretty sad they removed the mochi ice cream from their desert menu. Still pretty good but the overall quality of the food has gone down. One thing that is still amazingly good is the Ramen.

Loved it! Went for the first time yesterday and absolutely loved it. Was a little intimidated at first because of the whole concept but someone came and explained everything to us when they found out we were first-timers. Got to try like 4 different rolls which was super cool, the miso soup was delish, yummy plum wine and the Thai doughnuts-OMG. My husband had the teriyaki chicken platter and really enjoyed it too. Very low key, hole in the wall kind of place but good food and service.

This is my favorite restaurant in the area. I come here at least twice a month on dates with my boyfriend, to hangout with friends, have dinner with my family, its perfect for all occasions. Its fun and laid back with great customer service. They never rush you to leave and are super attentive till the last moment. Id recommend for anyone to come here. Wether youre a long time sushi lover or want to try it or any of the other amazing options, shimas is the way to go
