The food although not master chef style (flavors a lot less subtle) , is very good in the style of home cooking- just as mom would make. My wife is a bit of a Foodie, and she was quite pleased with the pies we had for desert. I gave this a rating of 2 for decor, because if you were looking for ambiance, this isnt at all why you would want to come here. However, the atmosphere is perfect for a restaurant of this nature...simple and clean. In contrast to the other reviews, my wife and I found the service excellent. Carla, our waitress was courteous, efficient, and must have topped my coffee a dozen times. Other servers helped us while we perused the pie display, all very nice. The busser was efficient as well. All in all, if you are looking for true southern cooking in Ft. Myers, this is the place. Other diners uses fake potatoes, and prepared foods, where the Farmers market pulls their fish and produce from the markets which source their product from local farms. The lady that runs the farmers market behind the restaurant was listing where the farms were located where the various produce came from. I know we have ate at many other southern diner type restaurants in the area, but they simply werent worth going back to as I cant readily remember them.

I have been searching for good places to eat for 2 years.... I have never heard of this place. They do NO advertising except with the sign out front. This place has been here since the 50s. It kinda in middle of no where. Just industrial stuff around. When I arrived at 1220 PM on a Wednesday the parking lot was full. When I entered there was a crowded & noisy room with a line at the door for seating ...And take out. It was primary seniors, regular people, political folks and a gaggle of Lee Co. Deputy Sheriffs. The cuisine is southern food.. The corn muffin as good as mine good biscuits fluffy. So we are talkin stick to the ribs REAL food. No calories counters here. fried chix, smothered chix, smothered pork chops, prime rib, country ribs. etc.. With 3 side. I had mac & cheese, collard greens, and some of the best restaurant mash potatoes and gravy in recent history.. They listed about 8 sides.. So if you are a real foodie and not a foo foo on décor. Seek this place out.

I dont know where some of these people eat regularly, but this place was awful.only one quarter full yet waited for our incompetent server (I had to go find her 3 times, no silverware after food served,no salt and pepper, didnt bring toast or drinks with meal, had to track her down). Now the food home fries small cubed deep deep deep deep fried all 11 of them on my plate. Menu says pork chop not fried pork chop.when it came on my plate deep deep deep deep fried and paper thin I was appalled dripping I mean dripping in grease.found waitress again and showed her, she thought nothing of it.one and only plus I was able to persuade her to replace it with a piece of ham....sorry, never again...just plain bad all around. Please family members writing those reviews spare your family the embarrasment!!!!

This is the real deal if you want good home cooking I ordered the smothered chicken and it was moist , so tender and juicy. A delicious brown gravy smothered the chicken. Three sides come with each entree, portions I tend not to eat rolls but these rolls were fresh and yeasty Pies are home made daily; I tried coconut , not too sweet coconut cream and a nice meringue It is an unpretentious place and a little hard to find Cleveland to Hanson to Evans to Edison Or Mlk to Evans, Edison I will be back to try more items. They have so many items and daily specials They have been in business for 60 years so must be doing something right

This restaurant is a nothing short of awesome for folks looking for high quality simple fried/southern cooking. The fried pork chops were juicy and tasty. The sides were cooked perfectly. The service staff mean business and are knowledgable and friendly. If you looking for a large fresh salad or a smoothie this isnt your place, but if you want an awesome meatloaf with some fried chicken the way grandma made it (saying she was a great cook) then you hit gold.

I have NEVER had anything there that I didnt like. The food there is like eating at your mothers home. All made from scratch. The pork chops for breakfast are AWSOME. The slice of pie could feed three its so big and did I mention home made? The only thing is sometimes the service is a little slow... depending on the server. So if you are ok with a 50/50 chance on waiting for your food then go!

Sorry to say, our latest dinner at the Farmers Market wasnt as good as it has been. The meatloaf was not very flavorful and the prime rib was over cooked. If the kitchen did not have any medium ( medium means pink)left, dont give two pieces of well done. More is not better . The sides were the high point of the meal and the cornbread was good. Service was attentive.

Been coming for years , always great food and service . With the exception of today, waited 38 minutes for our breakfast and when partial of our plates arrived it was cold food that was supposed to be hot and we had to ask for remaining items that were NOT brought out to us at first. Wont be coming back for a very long time, if at all. Disappointed for real.

Just had one of the best lunches in my life. Talk about some good old comfort food with all the fixins...fried chicken, shrimp and grits (totally awesome), fried pork chops, home made chicken fingers . OMG cant get the smile off my face!!! Will drive across the state just to have a lunch or dinner here again!

This place just feels like "home". To know its been around since 1952 was exciting. The staff are friendly and warm. I went with the intention of having breakfast but I missed the cutoff time. The server helping me was so sweet that I took up her offer to try their BBQ lunch special and I cleaned my plate!

Great food. Got the southern fried chicken, and it was good but the sides were fantastic. Best fried okra Ive had in a long time. Got the lemon meringue and it was just that but the pie crust was perfect. Service wasnt anything special but that didnt matter when the huge plat of food was sat in front of me.

This is a family owned restaurant that has been around for more than 50 years. Ive been coming here for ~30 years. Great home style meals, big portions. Some recipes have changed over the years, but all-in-all, there is no "country-style diner" that can beat the Farmers Market in the greater Ft Myers area.

Went for the first time today and all of the food was delicious! The fried chicken was cooked perfectly, the mac & cheese was cheesy. The bacon cheeseburger was a good size. The 3 sides are good portions. Our server, Patsy, was very friendly and we did not wait long for our food. Definitely will go back.

Recommended by the locals i asked while working down here. I like to find unique places to visit rather then cookie cutter chains. Menu is unique even has broccoli salad like our family makes. Never seen that on a menu. Dont let the outside surroundings concern you. Its nice inside. Great food
