Went to two other places that flopped first, and man, I should have come here first! Their menus are dated, and posted outside. It changes daily and is based on what they get in fresh. They are a farm to table restaurant. First, I loved that they didnt judge me. This is a very upscale place. I rolled in wearing a nasty duck dynasty shirt, and some running shorts that earned a new wash about four hours prior. I wasnt several day dirty, but its been a long day in the sun, and I wasnt fresh or decent. They let me switch tables, as I prefer my back to a wall and seeing the doorway/entry to my area. Our server was Mike, and my perfect balance. Personable, and able to answer all of my questions, but not a chatty Kathy interrupting my meal. He listened to my needs and wants, and we ended up going on with what we planned before stepping in. We started with the Compressed Watermelon & House Cured Pancetta Salad. It sucked. It wasnt part of the plan, but Mike recommended it, and it honestly was nothing like it sounded. The watermelon wasnt very flavorful, and I found the accenting flavors to be counterproductive. Olives, jalapeños, and pistachios did not go well with it. I had a few bites, and was done. Mike ended up taking it off the bill (without request), as he could tell we werent pleased. My companion went with the antelope, and I went with the mushrooms. I dont like to speak of my diet as it often makes negative connections, and I dont judge others for their diets- but I dont consume animal products. I havent had a single thing this year (of my own free will and accord), but for antelope, cooked their way, I had to try it. Absolutely fantastic. Succulent (cooked rare), a mild flavor, but so tender and lean. As Mike described it, its closest to a filet, but better. Now, for Mishrooms: Im not a fan, at all. It was the only thing on the menu I could eat, and I figured when entrees range from $22-46 a plate, this would be the best place to try it. I still cant believe what I ate. The flavors where amazing. Sweet, and rich, yet not over the top. Crunch from broccoli, yet a soft meat like texture from mushrooms, while others were soft, and others more solid- almost firm. Im completely blown away by it, and I must say its the best meal Ive had since 2015/12/30. Not that one was better or worse, but its a landmark meal in mind. Although we had a few hiccups on the meal- a beer spill got my socks (lol), and the appetizer came out with bacon, the beer spiller came over to make sure I wasnt upset immediately, and Mike was watching as the food came. The individual who dropped it off handt even left before he swooped in and got it sent back. Theres expensive restaurants, and theres restaurants where they earn every cent. I rarely have $65 bills (before the appetizer was removed), but when I do- this is the detailed level of service that should come with it. Well earned five star.

Lets start with the fact that they take walk-ins. Extremely sweet staff and hard working. Did not have any issues with changing or modifying my orders. Great place to celebrate a birthday. There were just two problems ultimately which ruined the experience for 2 of 5 guests. The vegetarian options are limited to a cauliflower steak which appeared as just scorched florets. The lentils were overcooked to match the appearance of my forbidden black rice. This forbidden black rice should stay just that... FORBIDDEN. It tasted like someone spilled the salt shaker on my food. It was plated separate from my entree so I have a feeling it escaped the head chefs particular taste tests. Shame because I had my weekly amount of sodium in one meal. Ruined my entree which was amazing on its own. Both this meal and the vegetarian dish were just atrocious. They need a different veggie option. Until then, dont bring picky eaters or people with working tastebuds. Ultimately, think you will appreciate this new experience with hints of eastern influence in cooking and flavors. I recommend the tahini ice cream. Our server made this an amazing experience and I will come back because of the excellent service. Five star service with three star food gives you four stars.

Holy @$%#!!!!! This place was an unexpected home run! The staff was incredible; nice, attentive, and we didnt feel rushed. The food was incredible and it was by far the best meal i have ever eaten! Ive been to the original Cafe Martoranos, and De Campo Osteria, and Market 17 blew those places out of the water! We started with the Grilled Key West Shrimp appetizer - perfectly prepared and plated with a cauliflower puree, then I had the petite plates of Venison and Maine Lobster on risotto. My mouth had never experienced anything like this. The venison was melt-in your-mouth tender and the risotto was so delicious i was left speechless (thats what happens when you taste the house bacon and corn concoction!) My girlfriend had the beef tenderloin, again prepared spot-on. She almost ordered venison for dessert after tasting my entree! The desserts we had were incredible as well. When I made my reservation, I had noted that it was my girlfriends birthday and said nothing more about it. Well, when her dessert came out, her plate said "happy birthday" in chocolate sauce! What a great surprise. No detail is left unconsidered by this place and we will definitely be back!!! Bravo Market 17, bravo!

Most of the reviews are 2 or more years ago so this may have been a better place or better experience for those. This place does not deserve 5 stars not even 4 just because it is a "farm to table" type of restaurant. Whats important is that you have quality food and with great value. So the food was OK. It is presentable, but thrifty in qty. They actually insult the customers without telling them, and why? Because this place is really expensive, so theyve created a menu that gives you tasting options, which run for $22 on average, which is like a full dish in other comparable restaurants. They create all sort of weird combinations of foods, that make one thinks this is creative when in fact it is awful and not very palatable. So whats the point? Besides, Service was sooooooo sllloooow, waiter was unapologetic and did nothing to actually feel comfortable while waiting, we were there for over an hour before we got the main course.. ridiculous. So for those who come with a few people and can talk and discuss not paying attention to time, that might be unnoticeable, but I was going there to eat not to wait and wait... OK, one off the list, no more.

My wife and I came to celebrate our 21st anniversary -- we chose to eat in the regular dining room and not the dining in the dark experience because as bariatric patients a full tasting menu would have been too much food for us. We shared a main and a dessert. Did not get to try their beverage program but it appeared quite extensive. That being said, having familiarity with high-end dining in other cities such as NY, Chicago and Seattle I can say with experience that the team is operating on a very high level of culinary execution and hospitality. There are very expensive places in Miami that can learn from this restaurant. Market 17, which opened in 2010 is located in Portside Center which is part of the same complex as the Broward County Convention Center. At first glance because of the high end decor and large space, one might logically assume the tenant is a large restaurant group. I found out from the FOH manager it was actually occupied by several well funded tenants before but previous concepts failed.
