As a cat-lover and as someone who has been anticipating this Japanese concept to make its appearance in the US, I have been doubly let down by my experience here. My boyfriend is a cat-lover as well and he was just as disappointed as I was. I will be as thorough as possible. We hadnt gone on a date in some time, and we planned this together as a fun outing to enjoy and experience. Additionally, our apartments dont allow pets, so we really were looking forward to being around the cats. Admission prices were not a problem for us, as $16 for two people is cheaper than going to the movies, and, we were enthused to make the hour drive east to spend time with the cats. I had reserved my time slot online a few days in advance before showing up. We were able to get parking just fine and we arrived about an hour before our time slot for the cat play area. Firstly, the cafe area was sweltering hot and seating was limited. I stood up the majority of the time and my boyfriend had to take a seat from people who had not been using it but had apparently been sitting on the floor around it since opening hours. There really should be a rule to limit how long a person can sit in one place, especially when a huge crowd of new customers has arrived. We waited for quite some time in the single cafe line to order drinks and pay for our reservation/pick up the admission stickers. My service at the cafe was fine, nothing special but it was fine. I ordered an iced chai tea latte, which was the best drink Ive ever ordered anywhere. I am only disappointed at the pricing and the quantity within the sizes. My boyfriend ordered a mango green tea which I also tried out and we both found it absolutely revolting and he decided to toss it. Fast forwarding to our time slot in the cat play area, we came in, were immediately greeted and referred to the rules posted on the wall. I had read them a million times on the website days before going, so I already knew them well. There were so many people already in there. So we found seating and waited for a bit. The rules state clearly not to mess with sleeping cats, to use "inside voices", not to chase the cats, and to ask a team member if you want to hold a cat. So, upon observing the room, I saw several children and some adults chasing cats, being loud, disturbing the sleeping cats, and grabbing hold of which ever cat frighteningly ran by them. I get that the kids are excited, but the older kids and adults should know better. The younger kids were also running amok unsupervised, which violated the rules. I was even further irritated by the fact that the team members just stood around not enforcing the rules. We waited almost the whole time slot without so much as getting to pat a cat because several people were hogging the cats and not letting them go even when the poor things were trying to wriggle free from their grasps. One woman stood by the window and held a cat in her arms for over 20 minutes before finally handing it to someone else who already had gotten to hold a cat. There was this barely-toddler-aged girl running around touching everything, including my drink. Where was her parent. Then there was the fact that people who had been in there long before us had been there even when we got fed up and left. So, in short, we paid for one extremely disgusting drink, one excellent drink, and we paid to sit in a room watching people enjoy what we paid to enjoy without so much as even a slight acknowledgement from the staff. Needless to say, we came out of there feeling quite irritated and upset because this was supposed to be a nice date and it turned out absolutely awful because of lax staff, inequality among patrons, overpricing, inadequate seating, a disgusting drink, and a lack of crowd control. If, and thats a big IF, we ever go again, well try going during a weekday, when all the little kids are where they belong--in school/day care/not at the cafe.

Really only went there because my sister who was visiting out of town was really looking forward to it. We went in and I decided not to get any drink because they were a bit overpriced. I was unaware of the entrance fee and wouldnt have minded if we werent greeted by a rude "where is your sticker?" from the staff. I got a little bit more annoyed when the girl at the counter, who was also not the friendliest, called it "an $8 DONATION Im sorry...but a donation is voluntary...that is an admission fee/cover charge.(I am now aware that it is posted on the website but when Im not aware I have to pay $16...its a little frustrating.) I was also only planning on staying in there for a short time. If I was by myself, I probably wouldve just turned around and left but my sister was excited so I payed my "donation". There were only a few people in there but it was uncomfortably quiet and the only 2 cats that were awake were with other people. So I sat on the floor trying to entice the cats to come to me which was all I felt I could do while my sister slowly started to lose her smile because there were no cats awake that she could play with. We ended up leaving after 20 minutes because we were bored and we had both barely touched any cats. Unlikely I will return...not very enthusiastic/friendly staff and didnt feel like the warm atmosphere I was expecting.

Cats everywhere! They do require a small fee to enter the cat cafe from another cafe. The fee actually helps a local animal shelter, which is fine for me. It is connected to Axum Coffee so if youre not ready to go in with food and drink, you could sit in that cafe before entering, but you do still have a choice whether to eat with the cats or not. I went in to eat with the cats. One loved chasing my bagel. There are some rules that you should follow and it is posted everywhere, but it is not enforced as well as I would like for it to be, even though theres two people there monitoring. "Please do not disturb a sleeping cat. You wouldnt want to be wakened up in the middle of your nap too, would you?" No, no I wouldnt. Understandably so, if theres tons of people all at once during a certain time, I can see how it can be hard to enforce the rules.

Employees very nice. They only had a few kitties as many had been adopted (what a blessing) kitties well cared for and very clean. I saw where ppl complained about the fee to visit with the kitties. Patrons should remember that these fees insure that the kitties have medical care. Good food, clean litter, and care givers. I think a visit to cat cafe should be a gift of love, rather than personal entertainment, if you make a reservation and go with the mind set of it being about the kitties, your experince will be 5 stars. Thank you cat cafe for providing this loving service of bring the kitties to the people, with the opportunity that a kitty might get a forever home.

We spontaneously decided to visit this place today and after the rude, rude, RUDE treatment we received from an employee there I will never return. We walked in and immediately was met by a woman who aked if we had a reservation. Since this was something we didnt plan in advance we were not aware one was needed but we couldnt even explain that to her as she put her hand up inches in front of my husbands face and told us to leave the room. She didnt attempt to explain the process until we were on our way out of the connecting coffee shop, and by then I was too ticked off to listen to her. Not a great experience.
