I was honestly kind of surprised to see such good reviews about this place. I ate here because I just noticed it on my way home and thought what the heck. The service is very fast and friendly; definitely a good job there. Also, prices are good, you get a decent amount of food for a good price. For instance, I had 3 tacos, a can of soda, and a quesadilla for $7.50. BUT As far as the food, it really is just food you can make at home. There isnt anything about it other than it is real food (think not McDonalds). Everything is just 2.5/5 as far as flavor and taste, but perhaps that is just my tastes as so many others really enjoy it. I feel like you could get better food from a taco truck. So I give a 5 star rating because this place doesnt deserve a bad rating just because I thought the food was meh. The service was friendly and only time will tell if they will either improve their recipes or keep a cult following to keep them afloat.

Our office decided to try out Romis for the first time. We ordered several chicken tacos, a ground beef taco, a steak taco, a beef burrito and chips and salsa. The food was excellent! Very authentic, home-style Mexican cuisine. If you are looking for Mexican that tastes like Taco Bell or any other national Mexican chain, dont come here. But if you want authentic Mexican food like you would get on vacation in Mexico, this is the place! And the owner, Jesus, was very courteous, talkative and an all around nice guy. I enjoyed our visit while I waited for my carry-out order to be cooked. Would highly recommend that you give them a try.

I went here for the first time last night (1-13-17) and I cant wait to go back. I seriously cant stop thinking about how delicious their food is. Im a creature of habit, and got steak tacos, but I also tried their Al Pastor tacos, and both were AMAZING! Great food, and great prices! I do wish they had a soda fountain, instead of cans, because a free refill or two wouldve been nice, since I get really thirsty, but I just asked for some water, and was fine! If youre in Brandon, or just passing through, stop in and grab a bite to eat! You WONT be disappointed!!! *edit* we came back again, on 1-15-17, and guess what? STILL AMAZING!!!!!

Hands down the best tacos in the Brandon area! We recently relocated to the area and come from Colorado and New Mexico where we have some great Mexican food and I was so disappointed by every other Mexican restaurant that we tried in the area, until we visited Romis (probably the 5th place that we tried at the time). Ill be honest, I havent eaten anything else here beyond chips, salsa, beans, rice and almost every taco they offer, so I cant speak to other things, but everything Ive had has been fantastic. Its authentic, family owned, inexpensive and absolutely delicious! I visit multiple times a week.

My wife and I wanted some good Mexican food on 26 June 2017. Wed been to several Mexican places in Tampa, but not Romis Tacos. We are delighted we stopped in. Very much "Ma-Pa" type business, Jesus the Owner and his wife put on an excellent meal. I ordered steak and chicken fajitas... they were done to perfection and the aroma filled the place as they were delivered to our table. My wife had tacos and cleaned her plate! The facility is clean, Service spectacular, and prices most reasonable. Jesus and our server continually checked on us. Romis is now our Mexican food restaurant of choice in Brandon!

Well... I cant say Im greatly disappointed but I am a tad bit. I say this spot is a 3.5. Im currently seated, and there are a little over a handful of Hispanic patrons around me and they seem to be enjoying their meals, my fiance enjoyed his as well. Only thing that threw me off was the queso was super thick and the salsa was super watery.. Neither my rice nor my refried beans had any flavor not even salt. But the meat inside the chimichanga was EVERYTHING and the cilantro was fresh. The red and green sauces they bring out with your meal are tasty. Just pick has your meal wisely when you come.

Little restaurant that can be hard to miss, but once you go inside the service is very welcoming with chips and salsa. The salsa is not too spicy more like tomato with a hint of cilantro, limes and jalapeño. Once settled you have the taco menu and they have pretty much every type of taco. The tacos are served with small tortillas and with cilantro and onions and they bring out the real salsas red and green. The tacos are delicious and good portions for the price. A Must have if you like authentic tacos.

My boyfriend and I had been searching for an authentic Mexican restaurant for a loooonnnggg time and we finally found one! This place is truly a hidden treasure. The food is authentic to the T. I had the carne asada tacos and they were DELICIOUS. I ordered the combo so it came with a side of rice and refried beans which were also great. This place may not be popular, but it should be. They have REAL Mexican food and for really good prices compared to a lot of other "Mexican" restaurants.

Small restaurant that has amazing food at a reasonable price! Their Agua frescas are awesome my son had the watermelon, I had the Orchata and Jamaica (hibiscus). Steak was actual steak and not filled with fat, and the chicken (wifes order) was moist and well seasoned. They had two sauces red and green and both were pretty good. Wife mentioned you could taste how they smoked the peppers in the red sauce which was a nice touch. All in all very glad we found it and will be going back soon!

This place has amazing food at extremely reasonable prices. I ordered the tamales meal, highly suggest this dish. It comes with 2 homemade tamales (they spend 8 hours to create these things), a simple salad, rice, and beans. This place has high ratings for a reason. If youre looking for a place that has amazing quality food and has a chill environment, this is it. A great place to go with friends or family.

Wish I could give it 5stars because I like to see small businesses succeed. After reading the reviews I was excited to eat there and was so hoping for a new favorite Mexican restaurant. Service was great, AC was lacking, just ok salsa. I ordered chile rellenos and they were so greasy they could not be eaten. Maybe if you stick to the tacos youll be okay. Adios Romis tacos, que te vayas bien.

Great little hole-in-the-wall! Tacos and Quesadilla I had were wonderful and had the homemade touch. Just the place I was looking for after moving to Florida. The owner was very pleasant and helpful and even told me the history of how the store went from the stand to the building. I recommend this highly if you want authentic, home-style Mexican food and not the ordinary chain fare.

The food and service here is amazing! Family ran business that focuses on quality and they have everything you would want to try- very authentic but also options for the kids. I highly recommend the barbacoa and carnitas!!! We had 12 people including 4 kids and the server was fantastic! Looking forward to making this a regular stop!
