2 meals there, both excellent! Im a recent transplant back to the Vermilion area from the West Side of Cleveland. I grew up there and knew OF The Pit for 40+ years but never ate there. (That old "round tuit " thing). The Pit is now about 2 miles from my home so I had no choice but to check it out. :) 2 recent visits and 2 times I left "too full" with the heavy awesome homemade cheesecake for dessert, the very tasty and well prepared veggies on the side and the AWESOME mashed potatoes. This was coupled with the best Half Slab of ribs that Ive found in Lorain County in recent years.

Growing up in Amherst (next door to Vermilion) my parents on occasion would take us to The Pit for dinner. This was 40 years ago. My mother (84 now) was recuperating from surgery in a nursing home just across the street from the restaurant. I took my family to see her and while we were in the area took the opportunity to revisit The Pit. All I will say is that the food there rivals if not exceeds that of The Montgomery Inn in Cincinnati. It was outstanding. And the blueberry bread pudding, crazy good. Highly recommend this place.

I recently ordered pulled pork and beef brisket from The Pit for a large party I was hosting. When I placed my order they were extremely helpful in helping me to determine the correct amount and with selecting the different types of barbecue sauce. The food was fantastic, I got rave reviews from everyone. If you want great barbecue to either dine in or to have catered for a party - I highly recommend The Pit!!

The people were great, the server was amazing. But, the food was a joke! I ordered the half chicken with Mac & cheese and mashed potatoes. The chicken itself was very good. The sauce was plain, watered down and no seasoning. The Mac and cheese was Velveeta out of the box. The mashed potatoes were instant. Im sorry, but if your going to charge damn near $15 for one meal, I dont want cheap quality food.

Great service! Waiter made recommendations that understated how good the dishes really are. Home made bread pudding and sweet potato Hash was melt in your mouth good! Having lived in North Carolina and Texas and had the best of their Bar-B-Qs the, family sampler at The Pit was even better. Will be back again next time through town!!

Good and friendly service. Love the large food portions. They were out of the brisket which for a BBQ restaurant was a disappointment. Dry rub was really sweet but not bad. They should add a cajun dry rub. Fresh cut fries are to thick but still good. They offer catering for all your events

The food is so authentic and delicious, it makes Quaker Steak look really bad. The smoked meat is amazing. Its a great upgrade for Vermilion to have such high quality food for such great prices. Unpretentious. It reminds me of Louisiana/Southern style.

This place was pretty good. The bbq ribs were awesome, and i love the fact that cheese grits were a dinner side on the menu! The dinner rolls were dry and I was not a fan of the homeade mac n chz, but for bbq, this place knows how to make it great!

The ribs were amazing sweet potatoes were delicious. My husband had the beef brisket he loved it. The only down fall here is i like a beer with my BBQ and they did not have a bar. But I would go back because the food and the service was great

Great food when they have what you want in stock.always running out of sweet potato fries, and many other side dishes.the last time I went they were out of 3 different side dishes.really? The place isnt the cleanest either.

They have the best ribs in town. I took my mom there and she couldnt be leave it. Good desert to peach cobbler vanilla ice cream thats a die for. Thanks for the dinner Ill be back.
