We were in the neighborhood and looking for something authentically Japanese for a light dinner when we came across Hatsuhana Japanese Restaurant. It offers very well prepared selections of the kind of food youd find in any good Japanese restaurant which caters to Western tastes. The first time we try a new place we usually stick with standards on the belief that if the kitchen cant manage those theres no reason to go back. We started off with steamed gyoza which were among the best Ive ever had. Theyre clearly made on premises and the delicate meat and alium filling was not overwhelmed by the perfect dipping sauce accompaniment. We then sampled some standard rolls. The standouts were the futomaki, spicy tuna (which was not overwhelmed by additional sesame oil which many places use to mask old tuna) and unagi/cucumber. Everything was fresh the proportions and the portions were perfect and in balance. The price was very fair. We are very pleased to have found at Hatsuhana Japanese Restaurant and are looking forward to our next visit.

So here it is, I was in town from Lakeland. We checked Google reviews from hotel and it brought us here. This is the reason to support LOCAL BUSINESS. The food was hands down as advertised. Try the appetizer A8. It is asparagus wrapped in Beef and was one of the best starters my son and I have had. The staff was super helpful in suggesting their best dishes, overall a great experience. I own a small business in Lakeland Florida and have excellent reviews myself . This is a great example of great reviews on a local establishment being spot on, Im always skeptical of reviews on a National Chain as They tend to pay people to fluff up the reviews. Do yourself a favor and research your local businesses and you can be sure if a local business in your market gets good reviews its as advertised. Support local business! If you like sushi and Japanese fare try this place , you will not be dissapointed.

Sushi restaurants can be hit or miss. Central FL has some good and several bad. Make no mistake about it Hatsuhana Sushi is GREAT! Its not made by some hired hands to roll up and crank out... each roll is made by Masa, a master at his craft. He truly is the real deal and I have yet to find a better sushi chef around. And to back that up his family is right there by his side serving customers with a smile. They take great care in connecting with their customers and making the dining experience great... from seating, to eating, five stars in my book!

I ordered take out. I had to wait for over an hour. When I finally got my food, the tempura shrimp was cold. The dynamite roll was nasty. The seafood in the pink sauce on top was hard. The other roll I took was salmon and cream cheese. Ive had a lot better. The rolls are very small and thin. The restaurant seats 50 people so it was so crowded in there and I had to stand most of the one hour wait to get my take out. Seriously not a place Im going back to.

This was my first Sushi experience EVER (3/28/2008) and it was a great one. Im traveling to Japan in June 2008 and I stopped by this restaurant to try Sushi for the first time. I was very nervous but the staff explained everything to me and I had a wonderful conversation with the chef during dinner (I sat at the Sushi Bar.) I will be back, and next time Ill bring friends!

Our favorite place you quickly become part of the family. They always go above and beyond to please. Doesnt hurt to be a true sushi chef from Japan. Unusual in most sushi places in Orlando. I work for a Japanese company and I bring every visitor here... Highly recommend

Always an excellent calm relaxing atmosphere! Always excellent food! Always excellent service! This is actually my 2nd review. I had left only 4 stars before because I prefer white ginger. I didnt know they were just temporarily out. They have the best octopus!!

Awesome sushi.. service is what kills them sometimes. They have a really sweet kid who does a great job but the older ladies have an interesting attitude. They also close at 9 on during the week, so dont get confused by the hours posted here.

The best sushi Ive ever found. I set the bar for sushi according to this place. I mostly eat sushi here, although the sashimi is just as good. The fish is always fresh, and the presentation is immaculate. Dont miss out

Best sushi around central Florida! We go here almost twice a month or more and we are loyal customers due to the mind blowing freshness of the raw fish and presentation. Just amazing.

The sushi is good, but I have had better elsewhere. They do have excellent bibimbap, and the salmon teriyaki is quite good. Service is good, although a bit slow at times.

Nice restaurant that seemed to have a fair number of Japanese customers dining- always a good sign. The food was good but the sushi wasnt the best Ive had.

the sushi is good but the waitresses make you feel rushed when there not many quests there. It has good food but is hard to relax while you eat.

Very good quality, and generous rolls. Try the Hatshuhana Roll, its excellent. Could have been a bit more fish in the chirashi though.
