Before you pick up your lap top bag and head over to Barracks Row hottest, newest coffee shop, just know that Pineapple & Pearls is a walk up coffee shop meaning there is absolutely NO seating and therefore no public wifi. If you know that going in, youll have right expectations and will most likely LOVE this place. As DC continues to "New Yorkify" (Thanks to Maketto for starting that movement), it only seems appropriate for Pineapple a& Pearls to open. Its a small coffee shop/pastry walk in from, by, and right next door to Roses Luxury. Its simple and chic like New York City using a neo-modern beach theme. Its reminiscent of high class Charleston. The two staff members behind the white marble counter are friendly and they may ask you if youve been in before, but not in a way thats a question. They ask it as if you for sure have been in before, but you havent. Psychologically that makes you feel more connected to them as if they think youre familiar. It gives you a real sense that you are in fact invited and welcomed at Pineapple & Pearls. Even as a student of psychology, I fell for it and am already planning on my next visit. They sell quality, artisan coffee as the Peregrine-esque menu boards tells you. However, unlike nearby Peregrine, Pineapple & Pearls sells chai latte and a darn good one at that. They also sell 6 pastries most of which are of the cinnamon roll variety. If you like chocolate and a little kick in the morning, order the Mexican chocolate cinnamon roll. It will come out from the oven warm oozing with Mexican chocolate. Theyll give it to you in a clean, white bag, but ask for napkins....LOTS of them. Youll need it to wipe off the warm Mexican chocolate from your lips, chin, and in my case my eyebrow (I still dont know how that happened). Pineapple & Pearls- Welcome to DC. I wouldnt be surprised if you get named "Best New Coffee Shop in the USA." After all, you are the child of Roses Luxury. Way to live up to the expectation and hype! Now I need to go continue wiping that Mexican chocolate from my brow.

Excellent at the bar! I bought a ticket for one and ate at the bar. I decided to treat myself to some fine dining but I was not drinking so I took advantage of the mocktail pairing which was amazing. Im going to compare this to the neighboring Roses Luxury and minibar, it is just as good. Not as crowded as Roses Luxury. Like minibar, I had the eating at the bar experience but not the quirky atmosphere nor did I see the theater of cooking. The dishes range from tiny 3 bite items to dishes that are a bit heftier. They were mostly inventive dishes, such as the potato ice cream encrusted with caviar. There were several dishes, I dont remember how many, and I found myself very full at the end of the night. I was so full I had to get the last dishes to-go. Service was lovely.

I can only speak for the espresso drinks which are PHENOMENAL! Since Im a barista, Im super critical of espresso bars, how theyre presented, latte art, etc. and Pineapple and Pearls nails it! The bar itself is minimalistic, but hip and cool. The drinks are smooth and done correctly. They serve breakfast items including sandwiches and pastries. The shop itself is incredibly small, so dont expect to sit down to drink your coffee unless you plan on sitting outside. Its also extremely easy to pass up unless youre looking for it, as there are no signs even suggesting it is a coffee shop.

Splendidly amazing. All I can say is you feel completely cared for here. After learning of my food restrictions (vegetarian and gluten free) I was taken on a culinary journey equivalent to my "no restrictions" friend. Every course was uniquely adjusted to accommodate me while still mirroring the essence of the dish. While most will realize this is a great place by it having two Michelin stars, I still needed to somehow express my gratitude and deep, heartfelt thanks for a wonderfully unique and beautiful meal.

Well, we didnt even make it to dinner because I was very ill and we were unable to change our reservations! This was to be our Christmas present from our children. They chose December 29th, which would have been a great date had I not gotten sick So, our children are out $250, we did not enjoy a dinner at Pineapple and Pearls - nothing to show for their hard earned money. A very unfortunate way to run a business. We will not try again as this policy seems absurd

This is an amazing spot to stop for quality coffee and espresso drinks on Barracks Row. Not surprising given its a project of the owner of the amazing Roses Luxury right next door. They also have a very small lunch menu with just 3-4 items, but each of them are AMAZING. I highly recommend either the fried chicken sandwich or the green garbanzo falafel sandwich. Both have incredible flavor profiles and must be experienced.

They have the best coffee setup Ive seen in any Café. Espresso ground on a Mahlkönig Peak (Twin, even!), made with a Slayer, and batch filter ground on an EK 43. If I had unlimited money, this is the machinery Id get! Sadly no custom pour overs. The coffee was alright, a bit underextracted. The service was friendly, didnt try the pastries. Would recommend a visit for sure!

The hype is real, the food is great, the staff is wonderful, though at $150 (and soon $180) a head for the base price, Im not convinced its truly the best place to eat in DC. At this price tier, I found myself wanting to save a little and just go next door to their original spot at Roses Luxury, or just go the extra mile (and $150) and just eat at Minibar.

Absolute amazing restaurant, service and food!!! Me and my boyfriend, Stephen, came for a special occasion and had one of the best dining experiences weve ever had. The 13 course tasting with wine pairing was well paced and everything was delicious. Would definetly recommend and will return!

Amazing experience, staff is very knowledgeable and will answer any questions you have, as well as explain each dish in great detail. Id recommend the beverage pairing for the full experience, because there are some drinks youre not likely to have ever tried before.

Service was warm and friendly. Food is different, adventurous and creative, though not all worked out to taste good. The non-alcoholic pairing was not worth the $75 dollar price and I wouldnt do that again next time. Overall it is worth trying.

It truly is an experience. If I had to pick one word to sum it up, it would be "fun". Beyond that, you just have to try it for yourself.

Some excellent dishes but also a couple of flops which should not happen at this level and price point. Very good service.

Solid coffee and tasty, albeit limited, sandwich selection. The rolls were too doughy but the service was excellent.

❤ Love that chicken sandwich! Notice the hand applied gold foil sticker on the coffee cups.
