Best discovery as of late in Washington, DC. Every time Id search for top restaurants in Eastern Market, Cafe Kimchi would pop up, but they were not open for dinner until recently. Finally able to pay this place a visit, I met a buddy her for a Friday lunch. Wow...I loved this place for their food. I ordered the "bulgogi burger" for my friend and I and we LOVED it. It was the perfect combination of the Korean BBQ beef, slaw, sauce, all topped with a friend egg on a bun. It was mouth watering. I know Ill be craving this burger once a few weeks so Ill be back. The atmosphere isnt much to write home about, but it adds to the allure of this place. There is limited seating and their clientele are military being right across the street from the Marine Barracks. FYI: They take only Visa + Mastercard.

Cafe Kimchi is a nice find on a street currently filled with super popular (read LONG LINES) restaurants. Its family-owned and run by a super tall and friendly local and has an decent range of good filling food with a Korean kick. Had the beef, pork, and chicken kimchi tacos in their tangy spicy Korean sauce and also the Kimchi Reuben (because I just had to see what that tasted like). The tacos were nicely cooked and the sauce helped balance out the strong flavor of the friend kimchi. Would have loved it if they had different offerings for toppings other than the basic lettuce, tomato, and cheese with the kimchee. And the Kimchi Reuben? Saucy, cheesy, and good. I recommend you stack the two halves and eat it that way. Good, no frills, food that hits the spot.

If Im eating out for lunch in my work neighborhood, this is by far my favorite place to go. The staff are super friendly and willing to accommodate alterations (at least they have been for me). The kimchi tacos are delicious, and Im so happy to see that their menu continues to grow with their clientele. Really crowded at lunch time, definitely take it to go if you plan to be there while its busy.

Very interesting takes on kimchi, all in good ways. The kimchi bibimbap is tasty. If you like Freedom fries, get the kimchi cheese fries ... very very good tasting! Warning about the hours: The place will close unexpectedly early if business has been a tad slower that day. Best to call ahead of going during the week.

Delicious! Reasonably priced (especially for the area), and unique dishes. Friendly service, and the owners are really nice. I had the Bulgogi burger, complete with runny egg and Kimchi. One of the best burgers in DC under $10. I recommend it (and will be back for Boba soon)

The kimchi fried rice (with japchae) was absolutely amazing! Service was immediate and friendly, although I wouldnt recommend calling over the phone, as they hardly pick up. The quality of their food and the college-budget prices make up for it, though!

This isnt sit-down Korean cuisine, its more a homey Americanized deli-style mashup. Everything is made hot to order so it can really hit the spot, but you gotta go in with the right expectations.

More Asian fusion fare. I wish there was a pure Korean food locale in the city. Generic, boring, but well priced and tasted good. Its just burritos and tacos and that sort of thing though.
