Wow, what a burger. I went basic for my first time out and ordered the "Six Buck Chuck" with cheese, mayo and ketchup. It came out with no frills and on a tray. The bun was glossy, light, fluffy, and melted in your mouth like a dinner roll fresh from the oven. The burger was cooked and seasoned perfectly. It was quite large in terms of diameter but not overly thick (though quite a bit thicker than a fast food burger). I tasted both the sweet potato fries and the regular fries and both were good, but nothing Id rave about or order on their own. The milkshakes were fantastic, the Black & White and seasonal Pumpkin Spice in particular. BTS is across from the Foggy Bottom metro stop. It gets quite crowded at lunch time and tables fill up fast. It may take a minute to get your burger (they buzz you on a pager when your order is ready) but its well worth the wait. I cant wait to go back and get my burger on again!

We gave BTS a try the other day and came out happy :) We ordered the Southern Comfort burger and Thigh High. Southern Comfort burger was good, but cooked medium (I had no option to ask for medium rare). Fried onion was fresh and crisp and all toppings were good! Thigh High was good and made of ground chicken - that my wife liked! Its rare to find a burger place that makes chicken burger as against slapping a grilled chicken breast between two buns! Our side order was Sweet Potato fries that were one of the I have had. We did see quite a few folks order that and so am surprised they dont make it in house and outsource this side dish! We also ordered a chocolate shake that was "dense" and good but not the best I have had. All said, this place has its good and bad (unable to order medium rare for my burger), but a good option when in the area.

holy bacon thickness, Big Daddy Burger $8 (5/5 NOMs). Well, hello sexy daddy! This was one excellent burger I ordered based on Burger Days recommendation. Bacon was so thick and flavorful that I could really taste it. Picture really shows how thick bacon was. You know I love my thick bacon! Im usually not a big fan of blue cheese, but it was a great compliment to this burger. The buns were weird, looked and tasted more like dinner rolls. It was great to see very light and not overpowering the taste buns. I recommend trying out this place and this burger. new take on Onion Rings $3 (4/5 NOMs). It was weird, because they did not taste like your normal onion rings. Normally you would expect something like this to be the same everywhere. They were lighter, felt like there was less deep frying. Felt a bit dry, but not really a bad thing.

I ordered a hamburger, Atkins style, and I know that that is tough for most places because they really dont know how to serve it, but what I got at the Tenleytown location was just plain disgusting. Instead of serving it in a foil wrapper they served it in a to-go container sitting atop a piece of lettuce and a shaved slice of tomato that had cooked in the heating lamps, then sat underneath the burger which gave away its grease and juices. The result, the most disgusting sight you can imagine. I also ordered bacon which was so cold the fat had resolidified. Just in case you are a french fry enthusiast, they dont cook them to order. Instead they are allowed to sit underneath a heat lamp. This was my first time there and since there is a Z Burger a block down, I will only be shaking my head while walking by.

I dream of Burger Tap & Shake (BTS). Their burgers are amazing. We went on a Friday evening and the place was pretty busy, but we were able to order and get a window seat. As for the food the burgers were Perfectly cooked and the toppings were delicious. The hubby & I had tried Southern Comfort and the Tejas Signature Burgers. We eat a lot of burgers, but these are some of the best I have ever had. We saved room for a BTS Shake (which has Butterfinger, Twix, & Snickers) and wow!?! each sip was like drinking a candy bar! Im partial to the ice cream with mix-ins so this shake was literally the best one I have ever, ever, ever had. The big straws make it easy to slurp up the chunks of yummy goodness. This place is a must-try.

The burgers were cooked to order. I got the Sweat Lodge because it listed itself as hot and I wanted something spicy and flavorful. It lacked the spice, sadly, but the bun is excellent and the pattie was a perfect medium rare. The sweet potato fries were perfect! I like then a little crispy but not burnt. I also like them with a little salt. These had both and were very good. I also for one of the shaketails and was a little disappointed that it costs $8 but doesnt have much of anything for alcohol in it. The flavor was amazing tho so I did enjoy it, but it wasnt 8$ enjoyment. Ill go back to check out the other burgers because the big daddy looked amazing with its quarter inch thick bacon pieces.

Ive been here twice, and both times the patty was overcooked and dry (salmon and duck). Sad that a Wendys burger beats BTS in juiciness! Dont bother with getting any sides like fries or onion rings, unless you like them slightly burnt (fries) or undercooked (onion rings) ... and served cold. Unacceptable given the high customer turnover at times I went (after 8PM). The shakes were the best part which is good yet pathetic at the same time. Bad Cubmaster and Bad Santa ... although the nutmeg was too overpowering in the Bad Santa. Ive accepted that the only customer service in the District is the worst ... plenty of far superior burger joints in Northern Virginia to patronize.

Extremeley popular place for a burger, though I do not know why. They desperately tried to mask the vastly inferior quality burger with an oversaturation of "condiments" of my choosing. The selection of condiments is extensive, though the quality of these condiments is bland at best. Once each burger is soaked in the condiment and the result is a soggy drenched bun that barely distracts you from a burger that tastes like a wet noodle fresh out of the pot. My wife is not a burger person, so she ordered somthing called a Haight Ashbury burger - a vegetarian alternate. It was frozen and equally doused in unapetizing condements. At least the shakes were quite good.

I would say the best burger in dc, even better than shake shack because you get more ingredients on your burger. Everything is made in house including the buns. Got their beef burger southern style and their chicken burger spicy with no regrets I.e. I wanted to eat two more. Now on to the beer(most important part) great selection(20 taps) with a good local and west coast selection. Alvin will help you find a beer you have not tried before. This is coming from a man that has tried over 200 craft brews. Now the BTS(Butterfinger Twix and Snickers) shake is a must have or there strawberry icing shake. Long story short come here and you wont leave thirsty or hungry.

Great atmosphere, seems pretty pricey for a burger joint but considering the area I think the value for quality of food is better than average. They have added some twists to your average burger resulting in some scrumptious combinations. I really enjoyed the Tejas burger the most. It has some heat, and the steak style chili makes it a much heartier burger. They use some kind of lime mayo on their chicken breast burger which is amazing. Best grilled chicken burger i have ever had. The shakes are great but pricey. I kept thinking of that scene from pulp fiction about the shake being damned good, but not worth $5:)
