Contrary to the previous review, I often receive sushi that is either very well made and exceptional quality compared to other areas. However, I do agree that the service is at times rude. There seems to always be 2 females working there. One is very tall and rude (even bossy) and throws the food at you. The shorter one is passive, and very polite. She doesnt seem to speak English very well, so Im usually stuck with the former. Besides this, the chefs are very professional. The display of food is always fantastic and I have never been disappointed with the quality. One more thing is that ts pretty small place. Inside, the atmosphere is quiet, there are some tvs around the bar area. Its not usually crowded, so I like to take people there for a small dinner or private conversations. All in all I enjoy eating there. The service is not that bad since they are fast and pay attention to you. I think the attitude they carry there is more of a cultural difference that could be interpreted as rude by most Americans. Some things we do may seem improper to them and vice versa. Google Japanese Etiquette and see how much it differs from ours!

3 OUT OF 5 OF US GOT FOOD POISONING It was my twin Brother and Is 29th birthday. September 30th 2015. It was nice to see my familiy. Prty of 5. As soon as I walked in I NOTICED it smelled fishy. Sushi right? I have been to many Jap/sushi restaurants(never got sic paid same $$), but IZUMI smelled musky and fishy-er than other places smelt. long story short. The 3 of us who ordered any of the tuna sushi varieties got sick that evening and the whole next day. the worst stomach cramps. fish tasting burps, vomiting and diarrhea my brother, father, myself.n SICK AS A DOG. oh but they served us birth day boys a single fried banana on a plate with 2x forks, yes we had to share our birthday "Cake" of a fried banana. with whip cream. lol i was so disappointed. if you are in the area go to saki moura in simsbury .. they have fresh food. they remember your name followed by "san" example "michael san" they sing happy birthday and both twins get a cake. and not sic for 2 days, i missed work and felt like garbage. i did call health dpt.

So glad I read through these reviews as I did not realize that they could make gluten-free versions of many of the sushi rolls. We ate there last week and I asked the waitress about gluten-free options but I dont think she could understand what I was asking as her English seemed to be very limited. We made plans to meet another couple there this weekend and I had been debating about whether I should stop in or call to try to talk to someone there who understood English better to find out if it was an option and then I read the review talking about "Ron" and how he understands how to prepare GF versions of some of the menu items. I called and spoke with him this afternoon and he will be working this evening so I ran rest assured knowing that my food will not be contaminated. So happy! This is the only restaurant on Rte 75 that we have ever eaten at and its about to become my new fav place to eat, period.

Went there for lunch, June 17,2013. The waitress tossed a menu in front of me. When I asked questions she snorted and walked away, like I was inconveniencing her by being curious about the menu options. I pointed to something on the menu and asked a question and she pushed my hand out of the way then pointed at something else. She didnt get me a drink, a younger waitress came over and got me a water. At the end of everything and after I asked her if she hated me for some reason? She received what I guess she thought was a lower than expected tip. She then looked at me standing 3 feet from me, fake laughed, and shook her head. I have never written a review before, but you have been warned, awesome food, absolutely the worst service I have ever received.

A friend and I went to this restaurant a few weeks ago and the hostess/waitress was the rudest waitstaff that I have ever experienced. She insulted me walking in the door and continued to be less than accomodating. Saying I couldnt use chopsticks and a fork at the same time. I actually got a laugh out of how bad the service was. The younger waitress was very nice. I went back a second time for a laugh and the service was again terrible. I guess the owner does not understand how much customer service is apart of a restaurants success. The food was ok but I will not be going back again..... I would actually like to give the owner some constructive criticism. I suggest getting take out.! enjoy~

Live in the area and was a big fan of it when it first opened up. Food wasnt bad. But recently went there and had my favorite clear broth vegetable miso. SUCKED the clear turned to brown broth YUCK tasting. the long island iced tea beverage was beyond watered down. also watch out when you order size portion. if you dont specify they automatically order you the larger portion. they are constantly at your table asking if you want more food. THEY ARE ANNOYING!!! Off my list of places to eat. too bad they were good at one time.

I ordered the basic chicken teriyaki with the salad and ginger dressing. The teriyaki sauce was like a gelatin syrup and the chicken was 100 percent microwaved, Inedible for sure! The salad dressing was more like sweet musturd. The waitresses were pointing at us and talking Japanese and laughing... very weird. This is the first dinning in and the 3rd time eating their food... each time has been 2 stars. Highly dont recommend.

Got the standard Sashimi, the cuts that were not still partially frozen were ok. The still frozen cuts were disappointing. The Miso was sub-par. To be fair though, I had visited silicon valley the week prior and had a number of excellent sushi dishes. I thought East coast fish would be just as fresh. Give it a spin, maybe I arrived too late in the night, but my experience was not equal to the other reviewers.

Food Quality? Fish - Good, Miso - Crap (Freeze Dried Tofu Pellets I think), Rice Balls? They fell apart just looking at them. Food Quantity? Horrible. Smallest portions I have EVER seen. Price? You get what you order... Mini me sized. Maybe it was just me, but I think my waitress was yelling at me. Hmmm.

Food was good but I ordered online at 6:30 to have my order ready for 8. After arriving at 8 to pick up my simple order of 1 hand roll and lo mein I had to wait an additional 20 mins for them to prepare my food. Again, good food but I would highly advise against ordering for take out.

Worst experience ever!...And it was a to-go order!...The check lady(older one) was so rude..She could not be bothered by my presence or small request of wasabi..First time there and I will never go back...Sushi was ok...The use artificial crab so thats as good as it gets for them...
