Went out to Chute Gates Steakhouse last night. The staff was unfriendly from the minute we walked in the door. To the point of having an attitude to down right unprofessional. The food was OK but the staff was not at all friendly. The hostess did not greet us, only herded us to a table when the 4 people in my party walked in the door. When waitress came to take order, she asked if we wanted butter on baked potatoes and brought out like 7 or 8 of those little tiny square butters for a table of 4. So your trying to open them and get out your butter and half of it you cant get out because the end of your knife is round and the butter containers are square. You need about 15 of them to equal a couple teaspoons of butter. And when we ask for more the waitress gives us an attitude. "She says " Ill get cha more", but as if to say chill lady! When I asked her why they dont just throw the butter right on the potato they say its cost effective. If people have to open their own they wont use so much or waste it. Whos ever wasted butter on a baked potato? And when your charging $20 for steak I think you can afford to butter the baked potato. Then we asked for our check and my daughter wrote down the last 4 digits of each credit card and what each person ordered in order to make it easier for the waitress to separate the check. The waitess seemed to have a lot of difficulty in separating the checks and was becoming frustrated. It was very hot in there and when I took a breath, the waitress looked up at me and asked me if I had a problem with her or her service. She said "ive been trying to give you good service all night." Thought that was a totally unprofessional comment to say to a customer that breathed too loudly,as she said it with an attitude. They forgot to bring ketchup, they didnt check up to see if we needed more beverages. My daughter asked for a glass of water for which she never received. They came 3 times to the table to ask if we were done, felt like they were in a hurry to leave themselves. There were only 3 tables with people. So I responded, "your a waitress, it should not be that difficult to separate a check and perhaps if it is you should ask in the beginning if we want it on one check or separate checks. From the minute we walked in, the staff was unfriendly. The hostess come from the bar area and looks at us and asked how many. Then seats us. Very unfriendly staff. They lost my business.

I have been going to Chute Gates for at least 5 years now. I have never had an issue before until Tuesday. My boyfriend took me out for my birthday because we are going somewhere fancy this weekend and wanted something low key, and of course I love country. So we arrive at 730, nobody is there but one table, and some people at the bar. We ordered two drinks, a beer and a cocktail, they took forever to get. Then we ordered an app, which took again forever to get. When she gave us our drinks we ordered our food, ribs and steak. I got salad, my bf got soup. She served my salad late, and said to my bf that they ran out of that soup. He was so pissed, he didnt want anything else but our food. Which we never got, it was almost 9, still no food. Their excuse was the new computer system. I dont care if its new, there is 1 table sitting ordering food, how do you screw that up. I ended up taking our meals and leaving. I will never go back again. What an awful birthday. They gave me one of the meals for free, and didnt even bother to take off a drink, since my boyfriend didnt eat one thing there.

Servers were good; prime rib = awesome! Same as mashed potatoes and veggies. Three stars because an unsweetened iced tea wasnt free refill; brisket disappointed... badly.. as if it were boiled, or something, first, and then smoked for 20 minutes. Its not supposed to be rubbery and grey-ish white on the inside (quite saddened by that.. maybe microwaved?). Side of mushrooms and onions had me question if it were canned sourced. Caramelized onions had a consistency as if it were taken directly out of a bowl of french onion soup (caramelized onions typically become more of a reduction, than retain size) and mushrooms had a faint flavor and consistency of the canned stuff.. Dont let those negatives ruin the rest of their menu choices. The prime rib is a home run! The portions are freakin massive! (Like, two to a plate massive). The brisket can be fixed just as the onion/mushroom deal. Brisket is also an all/half day prep. Maybe we came when they ran out of the good stuff and had freezer stuff on standby (?).

My husband and i decided to try for the first time. We walked in and sat at the bar. We got as far as ordering our dinks and noticed our bartender was completely nodding out. She brought my husbands beer over to us and couldnt even hand it to him bc she was so high on what ever she was on. I asked for the manager and she said she was the manager. So i said you are nodding out and she got in a few words along the lines that she cant do drugs she has a 8 week old. Needless to say we got up and left.

Great Ambience inside. Went here the same day as the Terryville Fair so got seated right away. Friendly staff and drinks came fast. The apps were good and the food also arrived promptly. French Onion Steak on the menu had just enough on the description to pique my interest. It ended up a steak with french onion soup components and everything worked great!!! Highly recommend this place if you are in the area looking for a steak...

A country music styled bar/restaurant containing good food and live music. I have gone to Chute Gates on and off for years now and they never seem to disappoint. Comparable pricing to most other restaurants, with dishes starting at $15 or so. But, food is very good and place is not all that fancy, so its a great laid back weekend place with family and friends.

Dont go its a lie, everything is the worst seriously must skip, everything about this place is obnoxious and disappointing. Loud, terrible music and people. Slow, boring wait staff. And even the food is subpar. This so-called restaurant will leave a bad taste in your mouth in every aspect. Just fake cowboys getting beligerent, nothing special at all.

Honestly came here for the first time because I heard it was good and this place sucks. The service is terrible, they food came out wrong 3 times and all the waitress besides 2 had a bad attitude. Honestly Ill never step foot in here again. Get a better staff who is attentive to their people at the table. WPOST PLACE EVER!!!!!

As a Native Texan, this place rocks!! I love it! A little piece of Texas nestled into rural CT. They have live bands, great beer, and Texas memorabilia that makes me feel right at home. Come in for a beer, bbq, or a smile. Because this place will definitely put a smile on your face! I WILL be back, folks!! Thanks!! :-)
