After many years of patronage, I am sad to say that despite good ice cream I will NEVER return to RIch Farm. After about 40 minutes waiting on a ridiculously long line, watching people get served at ridiculously slow speeds by a group of unfriendly high schoolers and being exposed to the disgusting smell of MANURE, I was told that I could not have my ice cream served the way I wanted it, because and I paraphrase..."Its against the rules." Mind you, I simply ordered a large waffle cone. But I was told that they were out of them and that I could NOT have my two scoops of ice cream. Ok, fine. But as if that werent bad enough, the customers next to me ordered the same thing I did, and they got it served the way they wanted it! What did the manager say? She slammed the window in my face! AND had the nerve to say I was crazy for asking her to accommodate me. Well, Im sorry that Im so crazy that I wanted good customer service. Well, it seems as if you lost a customer...maybe more if people realize how lousy the customer service truly is!

Yes sometimes it smells like a place (farm) that makes fresh ice cream which it does. Yes it can be very crowded so I go when it is raining or when it is off hours otherwise I am going to wait to enjoy my time with the dense and rich ice cream that it is. Depending on what the temperature is determines the flavor I am going to order - the varieties are more than adequate so I have something to think about if there is a line. Sometimes I just talk to the strangers in line while I am getting closer and closer! I try to spend as long eating as I did waiting to order but often I am lured into speed eating by the taste and texture. My white plastic spoon carefully carves into the outer edges of the ice cream lest it might break - here is an incentive not to go completely barbarian with the utensil. Did I say it smell like a farm sometimes? At this point I am completely focused on what is in this packed cup - frankly it looks like heaven - dont change a thing!

I live in Prospect (The home of the best ice cream in Connecticut, as voted by the readers of Connecticut magazine). I would argue that Rich Farms is by FAR superior in many ways. First, they dont weigh the ice cream like they do at the Big Dipper (Has always been a turn off of mine). Second, the ice cream flavors are creative and delicious. Third, they are located on a working farm. There are always huge lines at Rich Farms, and for good reason. THAT is the kind of place you want to go because locals wouldnt wait that long if it werent fantastic. The ice creams is incredibly creamy and delicious. Youll need a glass of water when youre done eating one of their ice cream products. Ive turned on at least 8 people to Rich Farms and they all agree that the Big Dipper is way over-rated as compared to this place (and I have no personal beef with the Big Dipper). I wish they could emulate this place.

The ice cream was delicious, but I was really put off by one of the staff members. My large family went here after church, it was pretty busy so I understand mistakes, but the girl serving us insisted that the last order was cookie dough and not cookies and cream. She insisted it was one of the kids that ordered, so they were mistaken, according to her. At that point, I recalled each persons order, and in chronological order, finishing with me, the mother, who had ordered cookies and cream. At that point she just stood and looked blankly at me, and muttered something while going off to scoop the correct kind. I was just put off by the experience. However, this was one person, and on only our first visit. I will try this place again, and update my review if the experience is better. I wouldnt use this review as a reason to not go, just a heads up to speak clearly, if nothing else!

Richs Farm is a legendary place for a reason. The ice cream is better than anything youll get in a store and made fresh on site. There is a variety of flavors and they are all good. The farm is a staple in the area and Ive been going there for most of my life. Be careful when you go because the line there can stretch all the way to the parking lot and I have SEEN people stand in the rain for an hour to get their ice cream. Its almost always college kids working the windows (which is nice because they get a job) and the tips go to the kids for tuition money. They may be young but they are always very nice. The farm only takes cash, but there is an ATM machine at the front for convenience. Great place to go.

Delicious! I prefer this lighter but still rich ice cream. It is very smooth and doesnt have the filmy aftertaste of most other ice creams. The seasonal flavors are unique. My last visit included a large cannoli and black raspberry waffle cone. My friends enjoyed an assortment including coffee, piña colada, Cookie Monster, and Rasmanian Devil. I purchased a few pints for a party afterwards. There are several benches and covered tables, as well as shaded grassy sloped for seating. There is an authentic cow fragrance that comes through on occasion. Arrive earlier for shorter lines, but they move well. I will return!

I dont give 5 stars very often. My husband and I love ice cream. We enjoy every opportunity to try new places because were very picky when it comes to quality. They had a vast number of choices - at least 10 different flavors of ice cream and a dozen, or so, toppings. The place itself is beautiful, the staff was friendly (even though they were busy), and the prices were reasonable (we paid $6 for one large waffle cone). We will definitely be returning.

Creamy delicious Ice cream made fresh on premises. Fun to see the cows too. Nice grassy area to sit or picnic tables available. Best ice cream around! Bring cash though. They do not accept checks or cards and I think this is my only complaint simply because its not convenient since I do not regularly carry cash. Would go more often in the spur of the moment if they accepted cards. But again, you cant go wrong, their Ice cream is amazing!

I expected better quality. I dont think it is worth going out of your way to try this place. I tried a few different flavors and I cant say that I would be able to single them out among other Ice Cream chains. I was excited to try their Coffee flavor ice cream, and it fell short of some of the best Ive had. Like i said before; its not worth going out of your way.

Sizing and pricing was a bit confusing. Tasted great though!!!! Plastic spoon was not strong enough for the ice cream until it softened some. There was so many flavors I wanted to try, I wish theyd have a sampler where I could get like 4 half scoops of different flavors. Since Im from Baltimore, i cant just come back another night. Great plaza and atmosphere!
