Castillo pizza is a restaurant located across from Hubbard Park in Meriden. It is a local pizza stop for anyone going to the park. They also do carry out and delivery. Upon entering, you immediately observe the very laidback atmosphere. You seat yourself or can order at the counter, there is a radio station playing some music and a tv for waiting patrons. People can also watch the cooks at work and watch their pizzas and dinners enter the brick oven. The menu offers the traditional pizza fare although cannolis and some other Italian specialties make the menu. We ordered a bacon mozzarella pizza, some slices of cheese, garlic knots, and cannolis. The bacon pizza featured hand tossed thin crust and the bacon was prepared and crumbled onto the pizza. It wasnt one of my favorite pies, but it was good. The garlic knots were larger than expected and had a strong garlic flavor. The cannolis was freshly made and delicious. Beverages were bottles taken from the fridge. The restaurant had extremely friendly staff, but waiting on dining clients didnt seem as large a priority as other pizzeria, not that the customer service was bad just that other responsibilities sometimes kept them from visiting the table. The staff was extremely friendly from greeting us, asking us how dinner was, even helping patrons with pictures. We had a pleasant experience, however we didnt feel we would make a special trip for a visit. We have only been here once. We will likely revisit on another Hubbard Park outing. This place would be excellent for a large group visiting the park just trying to pick up lunch to bring with them.

Decided to go out for pizza. I searched it on GPS and was listed four stars and a half by yelp. I chose this restaurant obviously because of the presented evidence. However, I decided to be curious and find out for myself, even if I risked It being booed by my wife who was cranky and hungry... shh lol. I gotta say it was one of the best humble pizza place, family oriented I have ever been. Greetings, appearance, in fact the table and seats were a lil wet (just by being wiped before I arrived) ...greetings were awesome! But i still had doubts on how my food was going to be. I proceeded to look at the menu which was very presentable and it looked like the makers had pride in their delivered product. I picked the BBQ, but was hard to pick at first ..everything looked good! MmmmLoved it! Their dough knots were amazing! And my wife, a happy camper with her Calzone. Staff was very courteous. Definitely check em out! Would recommend!!

This is the best brick oven pizza in the whole area. Hands down these guys pay special attention to the details they put into their pizzas. If you tell them to go light on the crust you will have just the right amount of crispy dough and crust. The toppings have a great texture and taste to them no matter what you add veggies and meats. Their apple fritters are better than the ones you can buy at the apple harvest every year in Southington. Overall this place is a 10 because of the friendly family staff and the overall amount of care they put into preparing your food. The staff makes you feel right at home and like you are a part of the family. Keep up the good work guys.

Id like to think that I have been to some of the best Pizza locations in CT and NY. Grimaldis in NY, Modern Pizza, Frank Pepe in New Haven, Rendezvous in Meriden, and I have to say this place can stand neck and neck with any of them. Ive had four different pies from them now and each specialty pie has been memorable. Tangy sauce on the red pies, thin yeasty dough, and quality cheese is very evident as well. I was also fortunate enough to try the cannolis which I think were better then the local favorite Mazzicattos(sp). Do yourself a favor and stop in on your next trip to Hubbard Park in Meriden you wont regret it.

The staff was friendly but my food was all messed up. I ordered a slice of broccoli the guy put like three pieces for a big slice. So all I ate was cheese. I paid 10.00 for a salad to find out the guy didnt even add the grilled chicken I asked for. :( Had the order to go , and no napkins were in the bag and I was asked if a fork was needed. First and last time that Ill visit this place.

Food is good. Brick oven pizza but the staff is is rude. We go and eat at the outside area VERY often every time we ask for plates cup fork etc its a big deal for them. Especially the parm! The only nice person there is the puertorican cook he ALWAYS has a smile on his face! Very friendly!

Eat here! Do it! Do it now! RIGHT NOW!!! This may very well be the best pizza I have ever eaten in my whole life. Crispy crust, tangy tomatoe sauce, generous toppings. Enraptured is the word I am thinking of. I cant wait to come back! Frank is the best!

Pizza is real thin but it taste good. Service was bad one time which turned me off. Family owned business with staff all over. One young kid took my order but never even said anything to me leading to bad customer service. Thats a big factor for me.

So I am not sure what has happened but the pizza has gone down hill. We ordered 2 pizzas half the pizza was exposed crust and much thinner than it used to be...not sure I will be back. My search continues for a good Pizza

I just ordered there. Delivery took over an hour. Pizza is mediocre. Little effort was put into chopping the veggies. Chicken wings are sooo dry. Dominos pizza and wings are better than this place. That alone says a lot

Great location across from Hubbard Park. Castello has real brick oven pizza, fresh Cannolis and my favorite soda from Italy Aranciata Rosa (blood Orange). Castello is a great addition to Meriden!
