This is only my second time at The Plum Tomato but after the service we received this time I can say it may be the last. Everything started out fine, we seated ourselves and in a timely manner the waiter came over. We ordered buffalo wings for an appetizer and a salad and a pizza for dinner. The wings came out and everything was still fine. He brought us the pizza shortly after and this was pretty much that last we saw him. He didnt give us plates for our pizza so i had to take the bones from my wings and pile them back on the plate with the wings we hadnt gotten to, and then wipe off my plate to use for the pizza. He never returned so I couldnt ask him for another drink (since i was done with my first shortly after we received the appetizer) or where my salad was. We began eating our pizza and now both of our drinks were empty but no waiter. We finished eating the pizza, and still, no waiter. So we waited. And waited. And waited some more. We ate a little on the late side so its not like the place was busy. It was us and two other tables and I dont believe he was waiting on the other tables. We finally saw him sitting at a table with other wait staff rolling napkins. After several minutes I think he noticed that we were looking around because he finally came over. I asked him for another drink and some boxes for our leftovers. He left and never came back. So once again, the waiting game. Nothing. After several more minutes I couldnt wait any longer so I got up and asked someone else if they could give me my check and the boxes. She gave me the boxes and the check, but the check had the salad on it that I never received. The waiter saw me up there so he finally came over. He adjusted the check for the salad he never gave us and we were on our way. So, this visit was quite disappointing and I couldnt wait to get home to get a big glass of water since I was unable to get a drink there. The first time we ate here the service was fine and it was much busier, but unfortunately, the service tonight will probably always be what I remember.

Gluten Free Goodness! This was my third visit and I still am amazed. This first visit was coming across this place accidentally because my 2 year old grandson was "starving" on our way to Rhode Island. It was a pleasant and unexpected surprise. My daughter noticed the "gluten free" sign, so we walked in. I ordered the "Mad Cow" and I was not mad in the least bit for ordering it. A mouth watering gluten free relation to any Philly Cheesesteak sandwich I had in Philly. Happily this version is on their very own gluten free homemade flat type bread. The bread, yes GF bread is delightfully warm, seasoned as well as having a delicious buttery flavor. The first bite is always my favorite. The horseradish sauce, fried roasted peppers & onions through the thinly sliced roast beef, has me sighing from the comfort of really good food. Creamy, crunchy, and cheesy gooeyness run down my chin, and this makes me incredibly happy. (My daughter was equally happy with her Sammy the Bull chicken roasted sandwich which she shared with her son during our first visit) Their Slogan reads: Food So Good, Its Addictive, Please Eat Responsibly. So true. I wish they were closer than the hour ride on route 85 in Salem, CT. Open everyday at 11am. The staff is friendly and it is obvious they have repeat customers from local workers, families and people on their way to the New London Beaches. There are a few tables in this quaint store front. Please go! its worth it. find me on instagram @gltuenista_foodie

Have dined both in and out and was so disappointed yesterday with the service and the pizza I brought home. I have gotten this particular pizza here before and it is delicious, not so much today. I was charged for toppings that one wasnt even on my pizza (unfortunately I didnt check before I drive home the 30min it takes) and another one of the toppings was not as I ordered it. The last 3 times we have ordered there they have forgotten to do my order correctly which has resulted in having to wait longer to get the rest of my order while the done part sits on top the oven "keeping it warm." I have really gotten good pizza and service here on past visits but its a hit or miss, depends on who is working i guess. All in all i am reconsidering taking this half hour ride anymore for food that may be good or may not!

Last year I stopped here on the way to a summer camp to get some lunch. Its a nice little pizza stop in the district where I used to go to Subway there. The inside is very small and can be a bit crowded, but the food makes up for it. I ordered one piece of cheese and one of pepperoni. The staff was nice to put them in the oven to heat them up. When eating them, they were a bit greasy, but they tasted wonderful; I think there were three types of cheese in each of them and the sauce had a nice sweet taste with it. The only problem is that there were some flies buzzing around, but they luckily didnt go anywhere near my family. Hope this problem gets rectified in the future. Im thinking of coming back here again next summer.

The food is good but I am fed up with the condescending mindless kids that work there. Not one order has come out properly unless it is a one topping pizza. When you tell them, it is somehow the customers fault. I gave this place too many chances and will be frequenting the place in the plaza down the street from now on. It is a shame, I was really impressed the first time I ordered but I can no longer go there and hand my money to these people only to be treated as if I am a bother. YMMV of course.

Our favorite place to go for pizza! The make amazing brick-oven pizzas there, with amazing service and friendly staff. The walls are covered with old objects from the 60s (or is it 80s? I can never tell) such as grape soda ads or even a set of skis. The atmosphere lends a sense of age to the place. Beware though - the cheese on their pizzas is not for everyone! The mozzarella gave some of our friends stomach issues. Other than that, great place which I highly reccommend.

Went here with my brother one Thursday night, it was completely dead. We ordered on small cheese pizza and it took over a half an hour to be ready, then our waitress comes out to say that it fell apart. So we waited another block of time for a sloppy small cheese pizza to come out, pooled with grease and running cheese and sauce. Very disappointed with the way they handled this, not worth the money or the wait.

Good food, though the staff always seems to be new and in training, they do ok overall just feels all over the place most of the time. The number system for food ordering is also useless in most cases, though the good food does keep me coming back, sometimes I just dont want to deal with it and go elsewhere. The newer lunch counter and pizza by the slice is a great addition.
