Huge portions and good service in a small family run business. They have a nice selection of beer and Mexican sodas. The chips were fresh. The salsa was watery to the point that we wondered if water was actually added. For our appetizer, we tried the tamales oaxaqueno, which came wrapped in a banana leaf. There was no sauce and little spice. The masa to chicken ratio was too high for my liking. We also had the queso topped with chorizo and green onions. It was stringy and had the consistency of melted cheddar, rather than the typical thick, creaminess of queso. We had combination plates that included soft and hard tacos, a burrito, a chicken and a beef tamale. None of it was remarkable, and the tamales and burrito were bland. While I can appreciate food not being overly "hot", I do want it to be flavorful. We left full, but not overly impressed. There are only a few parking spaces in the front. A sign directs you to more parking in the rear, but there is no lighting.

This place is a little hole in the wall but has the best most authentic mexican food I have ever had! I worked on a farm in CT and was talking to some of the mexican employees about finding good mexican food restaurants and they told me about this place. So one day I shot down there and I have been going back for years! The food is so good I bring people there and have never had anyone say it wasnt the best they have ever had. The service is always awesome and the food is great! The prices are beyond fair. If they had a nicer restaurant in a nicer location there meals would demand higher prices. I went there yesterday and a buddy of mine was telling me little places like Sarapas are always in danger of going out of business. I figured I do my part as a patron and write them up the review they deserve. So with that being said, Go check this place out. VERY GOOD!!

I got takeout from here after I heard it was decent authentic Mexican food. It was horrible. I bought a combo for $18 that had 2 enchiladas and 2 tacquitos. A bit pricey, but Im willing to give it a try if its quality food. It wasnt. The enchiladas consisted of nothing more than the wraps with a small amount of meat and red sauce. No cheese that I could see. There was no flavor. The tacquitos were the same, it had a trace amount of meat in small hard shells, but had a pile of lettuce and sour cream on top. Also flavorless. The refried beans it came with were runny and tasteless, the rice was bland with no flavor. Overall, this food was horrible. I honestly think I could have gotten more food, and tastier food spending about $5 at Taco Bell. I would not recommend this place and would never return.

Man Im sorry but Naa...I went here for lunch with a coworker. Staff was really nice and the place was cute, but the food???? TRASH!!! I ordered two tacos Spicy Pork and Cow tongue (was feeling adventurous). The tacos were dry and the wrap itself was tasteless. The only good part of it was the COW TONGUE (not bad actually lol). Got rice and beans and they gave me refried (maybe its my fault for expecting actual beans) it was literally mush it looked like gruel they give prisoners in movies. The rice was literally just white rice with tomato sauce. I would give this place a 1 star if the waitress wasnt so lovely and kind. I dont recommend this place unless you like cafeteria food. Didnt even bother taking a picture it looked trash..bye. - Scooby Baby

Its not as great as everyone is saying. Me and my boyfriend went there today to try it out and he had a hair in his food! yuck. The place is unsanitary overall. They had little bugs flying around everywhere. We were grossed out. The waitress wasnt that welcoming but we paid and gave her a good tip anyways. The place is so small, that when we found ourselves wanting to talk about how the food was to each other, couldnt because it was too cramped and the servers could possibly hear us! We didnt want to be rude. The food was bland. I liked their tamales. The tacos were overcooked. No seasonings. Ive been to Mexico and Ive lived in Texas for a bit so I know what good Authentic Mexican food tastes like. Anyways, I wouldnt go back.

Small storefront/hole in the wall places have the best food. I went to this for the first time tonight with expectations of good food, homey atmosphere, and nothing pretentious. It all that and more. I had what I think were mole enchilada like things, and they were out of this world. The food was not greasy, not salty, and very tasty. I found the atmosphere to be refreshing. Its Mexican knick-knacks all over the place and a deer head on the wall. Its great! From the build-up I got from the other reviews, Id have been disappointed if it were anything else. The prices are higher that chain restaurants, but you get what you pay for in the quality of the food here alone. If you want cheap, go to Taco Belle.

We had a wonderful experience here! I ordered the beef flautas and was pleasantly surprised. The beef wasnt ground like I assumed it would be; it was pulled beef and extremely flavorful. The rice was fresh, unlike several restaurants where it tastes like its been sitting in a dish under a warmer for hours. My parents had tacos and tostadas and both enjoyed them and said theyd happily come back next time were back in town. The tomatillo sauce/salsa verde was a delicious compliment to all our meals. Overall, very authentic, fresh, and flavorful, with friendly service and a peppy atmosphere. (Dont let the tiny storefront window fool you!:)

Will stop here any time we are in the area! Excellent food and very reasonably priced. Chicken was tender and flavorful without being overly spiced. Lemonade was a pleasant surprise (fresh lime juice added). Atmosphere very casual and waitresses very pleasant (singing a bit while working). We also got our meal very quickly which was appreciated since we were passing through while traveling. Sarapes is a must try!

As a native Texan, I feel like I have a pretty good handle on what "good" Mexican food is like, and Sarapes totally shattered all my preconceived notions of New Englands apparent lack of it. The salsa was super fresh and tasty, the Platillo Oaxacaña blew me away, and the horchata transported me back to Houston. I would highly recommend this to anyone who enjoys true authentic Mexican. Ill be coming back for sure.

Food was very bland. I expected a lot better from this place after looking at the high reviews. Service was very friendly though. The food was overpriced especially since it lacked flavor. The chicken and pork were very dry. Even the chips were dry. I hate leaving such a poor rating considering they were so friendly, but the food was not good amd was overpriced. Do not recommend, will not return.

Authentic Mexican, large portions, and a friendly staff! Not Tex-Mex but real Mexican, so dont expect every dish to be super spicy, just ask for their spicy salsa if that is what you like. Everything was fresh and made in house, even the Limonade Fresca. Tamal was moist and full of well seasoned pork. All of the dishes were full of flavor. And we will have lunch for 2 with the leftovers.
