Clear Creek is a great place to walk with your dog, but where to go when you are hungry and have your dog in tow? It’s a familiar problem. The Windy Saddle has a small fenced off seating area to sit with your dog or tie your dog to while you run inside to order. They menu is a collection of pastries, sandwiches and drinks. All of which are good but mostly unremarkable. The breakfast croissant tastes suspiciously like the croissants from Costco’s bakery (decent but slightly disappointing from a bakery) It is one of the few local cafes in town, and is on the main road so it sees a lot of customers. The college students and locals all frequent here in addition to the dog owners.

very cool coffee shop. i was skeptical at first being its in the touristy downtown area but once i walked in that skepticism diminished. from the name I expected a "wild west" theme but its quite the opposite. the decor is what I would expect a coffee shop in Colorado to be, rustic, mix-match furnishings and students pecking away at their laptops. i had the meat quiche and an espresso both of which were great. they have a variety of sweet treats and a limited lunch menu all of which seem to be reasonably priced.

I never write reviews, but the horrible service i have repeatedly received has compelled me. The staff here is incredibly slow and unhelpful, as is the food (at least for me) overpriced. Examples include waiting 20min for them to heat up a piece of quiche, with no orders ahead of me. On another occasion they did not fulfill an order as specified, agued with me when I brought it to their attention, and ultimately never did anything to rectify it. I have never been more put off by a locally owned cafe.

Ive enjoyed numerous visits to the Windy Saddle. I like the place so much I wrote a lullaby song for kids using their name. And I played it live at the Windy Saddle 3 weekends around Christmas in 2012...but thats another story. I enjoy their Americano coffees, Buckaroo wrap, and gluten free pastries. And theyre right under the welcome arch in the heart of downtown Golden. Like an old commercial used to say "it dont get no better than that".

My wife and I love taking our dog to Windy Saddle some Sundays to sit at the tables on the sidewalk and revel in the great food, staff, coffee, and atmosphere. The only complaint we have is it gets so busy it can take quite a while to get our food. We dont mind because we arent in a hurry and there are plenty of bicyclists with tight clothes, awkward shoes, and clean shaven bodies to scoff at. Its all good though!

Great little downtown Golden coffee shop. Its rare now days to find a coffee shop in the metro are that doesnt reek of pretentiousness. The coffee here is just as good if not better than any "too cool for school" coffee house without being snooty about it. They have a great some no frills menu that achieves a simple flavors done well and its all delivered by smiling staff and friendly faces.

This coffee place is really gross. We walked in on a Wednesday around 11am and it smelled like B.O. in there and there were flies buzzing around everywhere. It was very annoying and disgusting to have flies landing on my arms, head, face, table, and FOOD throughout my visit. I got the vegan muffin and it wasnt even cooked, it was completely raw batter on the inside. Never again.

The service was appalling. The food was mediocre. Dont order the espresso because it is bitterly horrible and my beer was served warm. The live music was great. Its just too bad that the serving staff have no idea about the food they are serving. The salmon spread was described as salmony. Cant recommend this place and we certainly wont go back after this horrible experience.

Lively, friendly place located in the heart of downtown Golden on Washington Street, the main drag. Window seats and patio seats available to watch the passers-by. Its more of a high energy, slightly chaotic place than a quiet place to sip your java. Has a small play area with toys, perfect for toddlers. Good coffee and food, great friendly staff.

At some point the owners need to ask themselves why they have such high turnover of staff. Tis leads to inconsistent service and food. I love the atmosphere and will always pick local over corporate but it seems that they are NEVER staffed for a busy day. Like many businesses in Golden they are able to get by off of unsuspecting tourists.

Windy Saddle has a big leather couch and chairs, free wi-fi, and a nice looking interior. They brew Ancora coffee from Wisconsin which is very good and have a LaMarzocco espresso machine; one of the best indicators you will get good espresso. A good sandwich menu and a good selection of pastries/quiche makes this place a winner!

What a disappointment! Came to Golden and loved the look of this place but wow! Horrible service, the gf bread could not be grilled, so they put it in the oven to "warm" it up. The sandwich came out dry and crumbly. It fell apart the second I touched it. The gf pastries included carrot cake and blueberry carrot scones...what?

The atmosphere is a mix of old west and campus life. Students from School of Mines are all around me studying and socializing and adding tremendous character to the place. The aroma of coffee and herb tea fills the air. Good music in the background. This is going on my list of favorites.

Windy Saddle is a great coffee shop sandwich shop, pastry and breakfast place. If you want to meet people from out of town or locals, this is a great place for a rendezvous. Its local charms and rustic interior make Windy Saddle a Golden, Colorado tourist attraction.

The waitstaff was extremely rude. They were closed for a private event with no sign on the door. How was I supposed to know that? They do not deserve your business. Learn how to treat people with respect and put a sign up if your closed for a private party.

Stopped by here on the way to the airport and had a delicious Americano! Service was a little slow but the place was pretty busy. Their marketing sucked me in with the sign on the door that says "Serious Coffee" and I was not disappointed!

Awesome vibe, engaged staff, and great product! Thankfully went in during an off hour and found a place to sit down. Seems they are usually beyond capacity at busy times. Also have a neat kids retreat/play area in the back. Top notch!

This is a locals coffee shop. Its always packed on the weekends. Offers good sandwiches and quiches, plus tasty bakery goods. Love this place!! Beware: the owner is a Green Bay Packers fan!

A good coffee shop. Id say this distinctive that this one has over other coffee shops in Golden is the broader food selection. Great for a light sit down and chill type of meeting.

Neat atmosphere. Good coffee. Sit inside or outside. Parking on the main street can be a challenge, so park in back. Good place to sit and read a book with a hot cup of joe.

The reuben sandwich is mostly sauerkraut. The salad is priced too high especially for the house salad. Had to get my own water. The cappuccino is half coffee and half foam.
