As a person working in the customer service industry, I understand how much reviews mean to a facility. Unless I have an awful experience at a place of business I will never leave a review, I prefer to handle things one on one with a manager. As a frequent patron of Urban Sombrero, I have to express my extreme dissatisfaction with the service we received on 4/17/16. My husband and I finally had a day off to enjoy ourselves. We gathered 8 family members and made plans to meet for dinner and drinks, knowing later we would meet even more friends there for drinks. I can say that we were there for a few hours but with food, drinks, and water we knew we were ok to meet some friends later knowing we could call Uber for a ride. We spent a few hours joking, eating, and drinking being serviced by a mediocre waitress we have never seen. I am going to interrupt my rant here to say that we have been frequent patrons of this bar for three years as well as I have been a regular at Classic Cuts (same owners) where I have had my hair done by Ashley for the last 6+ years, who is fantastic by the way! We were asked to close out our tab and move to the bar. We had no hesitation closing our tab, as 4 members of our party had already paid and left. Without thinking there was a problem, I went and talked with a few friends at another table. I had left their table to go get my drink when I was informed we were cut off. When we moved tables, we had waited quite a while for service when one member of our party asked the waitress if we could order. She notified us that the last waitress said we had too much to drink and they weren’t going to be able to serve us. She told us she would ask the manager who then said he would let us order one more round before being cut off, mind you never coming to our table and talking to us in person. At this point, not only was I embarrassed but infuriated. As a local patron of this facility, I would expect to be treated with more respect than to be shooed off like our business did not matter. I was finally able to speak with the manager Tyler. He was very friendly and offered us coupons and a round of drinks on the house (which we did not take nor did we want, we just wanted to be treated fairly). He was trying to be very accommodating but the damage had already been done and we decided to leave. I am not looking to dog this facility nor give it one star. I am just here to express my sincere dissatisfaction for the way I was treated. I have lived in this neighborhood on and off for 15 years. Out of all the bars that come and go, we were excited to finally call one of them “home”. After service like this tonight, I cannot say that I will return, refer, nor will ever I want to spend money in a place that has no respect for its patrons. It is severely disappointing that this had to happen as I am sure my husband and I would have been lifelong customers. I truly hope that someone reads this review and takes it to heart as I would not want another customer to be treated as we were tonight.

I visit Urban Sombrero quite frequently. At least once a month. Never had any issues before. Good food, great drinks. Sadly the experience I received this last Saturday was enough to make it my last visit. Husband & I both work in the restaurant industry so we get off work late on Saturday evenings. We arrived at about 11:45, first time we decided to dine & drink at the bar. With only 4 other ppl around us drinks already in hand, took the bartender 7 min to acknowledge us & ask for our drinks. We ordered food. I a big fan of their Carne Asada fries, my husband their hot wings. When food arrived, chicken was completely pink on the inside, which my husband opted out of eating for health concerns, I always enjoy their carne asada fries but this time tasted as though a whole salt shaker was poured onto my meal. I starving, ate what I could of it. But we ended our dining experience quite quickly. As we walked out, I distinctly remember leaving my ID on the bar counter, realized within 5 min of leaving & when I returned, GONE. No one had seen it, no one turned it in. Asked bartender who merely smiled and said "We dont have it." As a fellow employee of the hospitality industry I am very disappointed in their service & attitude towards the ID. Didnt even take my phone number which almost all restaurants do in case something turns up. Sadly, I was an avid fan but this will definitely be my last dining experience here.

My wife and I went last night... she has been really wanting to go there, so I finally gave into the expected. Maybe its because we are mexican, so the white twist on mexucan cuisine wasnt great at all. First of the "famous" salsa tasted straight out of a jar. Im serious I bought a jar of On The Border salsa the other day, and it tasted identical. The "Mexican" rice was gummy and tasted like plastic. The black beans tasted canned. My wife got the El Fuego Favorite, a burger it had the famous salsa on it, and she scraped it off, and the burger bun was soggy. The green chili wasnt at all green lol, it tasted like some chunks of pork with their salsa watered down. Our bill came out a 40 dollar not well spent. We will not be returning, this restaurant has butchered Mexican cuisine. But they had good service, if only the food were decent... I guess drunk white people, especially because its mostly a bar rather than a restaurant, will eat anything and say its delicious.

Were in town staying at the Hyatt across the street, and needed a last minute takeout option, NOT fast food, when we got back late from Elitch. Ive grown up with Mexican food, as my stepmoms family is from Mexico, and while not in the strictest sense traditional, I have to say, this place did a great job with our meals. My husband loved his smothered burrito, and my daughters loved the urban ones. Plenty of food at a reasonable price. I had the fajitas, mushroom and chicken, and truly enjoyed. The pico and guac, of which we are afficianados, were fresh and delicious, with plenty of chips. The only reason for taking off one star was that I couldnt get ahold of anyone by phone to order ahead. I had to wait to order until we got into the restaurant. That being said, the food was ready quickly, hot and delicious when we got back to our room. Good job.

TERRIBLE SERVICE, DIRTY, OVERSERVED CUSTOMERS. My boyfriend and i sat at the bar for atleast 5 minutes without EVER being acknowledged, my boyfriend had to yell at the the bartender to get her attention. She was busy over serving almost the entire bar, a lot of these custoners should have been cut off a while ago. We told her what we wanted and we still waited a good while to get our drinks. She didnt give us a menu, we had to pry that from her as well! The bar is sticky and covered in past drinks, the guy next to us asked for a shot and didnt receivea lime with it, he ordered tequila. Bartenders are obviously overwhelmed. WE WILL NOT BE BACK
