Ive been coming here every other month for the last ten years whenever I have a craving for a burger and a shake.the food has always been consistently good and the service has always been a little slow. Ive learned over the years not to go here if your in a hurry. No big deal. I dont go there to be pampered. However recently the service has sunk to a new low. I took a friend there for the first time. We were seated promptly then ignored by the staff for the next fifteen minutes. In my sight were two servers standing behind the bar enjoying a soda and the DU hockey game. The one who seated us included. The other one looked at me several times and just stood there. The one who seated us walked back and forth around the bar and restaurant doing nothing. The three bussers were also having a social hour among themselves, and ocassionally checking on the kitchen staff. The manager was standing right there. Enjoying the game also. There was a table of six, four, and a couple of dueces sat after us. There was one server for all of them (us). She was running around doing everything the best she could. She simply couldnt do it all by herself. She finally noticed us and promptly apologized and took our order. I looked around at all the other tables with empty plates and glasses and a full staff except for one that truly didnt care. Including the manager. It will be awhile, maybe never, before I give this place any of my money. Ill miss this place

I went in on Valentines Day, knowing it would be busy. Was asked by the host "what can I do for you" and I found that odd - what else would I be in a restaurant with another person for? To bug them? Was sat immediately. Menus are paper, not laminated, crumpled and dirty and damaged. Also found that odd. Drinks arent listed on the menu. Server didnt come help us for 6 minutes - Im a server, its busy, I wasnt concerned by it. She finally came down and asked if we would like some waters: why ask? Do people say no to water? She disappeared and didnt come back for a solid 11 minutes. Returned with waters, asked if she could do anything else for us(no, Im not hungry. What?? Take my order, silly!). Ordered eggs Benedict and the gyro. Both came out cold, server didnt check on us, so we didnt get it fixed. My friend got the bottomless mimosas and sat empty-handed for 20 minutes before another server came by and refilled it. She spilled mimosa all over our table and ignored it, and I was genuinely appalled. Didnt get our check for another 25 minutes, it was no longer busy, our server was standing around chatting. TL:DR; Service was incredibly awkward and inattentive, the menus are unprofessional, the staff is tunnel-visioned and the food was cold and gross. I wanted a job here but I dont want to deal with the other side.

Good food, poor service. Spankys is a dive bar near the DU campus. As such, my expectations for service were not that high. I would routinely go there once every couple weeks. I had pretty good experiences; however, a recent experience ensured that I will never be going back. The server showed up at the table maybe three times - 1) take the order 2) drop off the food 3) drop off the check. Our drinks were empty for most of the meal. It seemed like the server didnt really care (and there werent many people in the restaurant). The kicker was that my girlfriend nearly swallowed a toothpick while eating her salad. We mentioned this to the server when she dropped off the check and her response was "did you put it in there?". Seriously?!? She then says "OK, Ill take it off". She grabs the check and takes it back to the register. When she comes back, she slams the check on the table and storms off. Not a single word. Not a "sorry" or "I apologize". Just slammed the check down and stormed off. I then look at the check and she only discounted half of my girlfriends meal (because the salad only made up half the meal?). I had spent a couple hundred dollars there in the previous few months, but I will never be going back.

Ive ordered from Spankys many times before but unfortunately this time when I received my meal it was completely wrong. I contacted the restaurant and spoke to a very rude female manager who admitted that she was the one who put my meal together and didnt check it. I revived two salads that came with either the wrong protein or no protein at all, we revived the wrong dressings plus the food tasted/looked burnt and old. My experience with the manger was very unsettling since she was the one who made the mistake but wasnt willing to do anything to fix it. Use to love eating at this restaurant but the way they treat their costumers is embarrassing so they have lost our business.

It was the most horrible thing ever, the hostess was very nice. Our server basically told us he didnt know what he was doing and we ordered our food it took awhile to get our food, then we didnt get all of our food. It took another long while to get, still didnt bring it all. We then got our checks then our last order of pancakes came out after we were ready to leave. Service was terrible I would give it 0 stars if I could. Will never return to this place!!

Terrible service... She wouldnt even look anyone in the face. So quickly took our order that I couldnt even get out that I wanted a side of ranch. Then when we ordered a shake to go the cup was half full as the person who made it drank the rest from the silver "leftover" cup. All our "medium" burgers were burnt. The food was just tasteless and nothing special. I will never go back.

Nice postmodern urban decor. Clean. Excellent food. Good change from the old burger bar it used to be. I had the Monte Cristo (very hard to find in Denver): excellent! The best Ive ever had. A friend had some specialty burger (with ground bacon): he really liked it (and hes been around). Staff was courteous and helpful. Will be back again.

Based on the reviews I had low hopes for this place, but we had a great experience! Our server Jason was friendly, attentive, and made us laugh several times. The food was awesome! The brussel sprouts were crispy and delicious, the salads were huge and fresh, and the tater tots were little bits of heaven. Will definitely come back!

The food isnt the worst - but it definitely isnt anything special either. Its pretty pricey for what you get, and the staff isnt great. Their only potentially redeeming quality is that they do have good beer specials during the week - but nothing mind-blowing, you can easily find comparable specials at other venues as well.

Im usually very picky, but last night I decided to go out of my comfort zone and order the E.O.B.K. burger. One of the best choices I could have made! Everything about this place was fabulous- great waitress (which I havent had in a while in going to other restaurants), delicious burger, and a smooth, laid back ambiance.

Good service...food was okay too but only okay, nothing spectacular. However for a half salad at $8.00 (with grilled chicken), I got about a $5 salad. In other words, you dont get what you pay for, especially for salad. But it did taste okay, it was fast and the chicken did have a nice grill flavor.
