I recently found a great place to grab a bite and a great pint, the Rackhouse Pub. The Rackhouse Pub is located in the old Heavenly Daze building near the intersection of Alameda and Kalamath. This building is also home to Stranahans Colorado Whiskey company. A few days back I took one of my clients in for lunch and we had a great time. The décor was amazing, it was just like walking into the rackhouse at any major distillery. Barrels and copper accent the room which really kind of puts you in the mood for a pour of Colorados finest. Behind the bar youll find a wonderful variety of sprits, many of them from Colorado micro/craft distilleries. Their beer selection isnt anything to miss either. With twenty or so taps pouring everything from Oskar Blues Dales Pale Ale to Left Hand Milk Stout on Nitro, youll surly find a libation to suit your needs. The offerings from the kitchen were quite impressive as well. We had pizzas that would trump any pizzeria in town. My pie was piled high with gorgonzola, mozzarella, cream and parmesan cheeses, I also had them throw on some sausage for good measure. My client ordered the Rustica, with local Colorado sausage, mushroom medley, roasted garlic and fresh herbs. Not only did they taste great but they were filling too. Lastly, the staff was friendly and very educational. I had several questions about the Stranahans Colorado Whiskey that they offered. I was curious about the distiller bottle and the Snowflake they had listed in their menu. Chris gladly explained... "The Distillers Bottle is a bar special that we run where you can purchase your very own bottle of Stranahans Colorado Whiskey to have on reserve for you whenever you visit the Rackhouse Pub You even save $20 over buying it by the glass. Stranahans Snowflakes are one-time, single barrel, special editions of Stranahans Colorado Whiskey. The concept is, just like snowflakes, no two are alike. The distillery takes their standard Stranahans Colorado Strait Whiskey and put it through an additional aging in unique cask that creates an unique accent flavor unlike any other Stranahans flavor. The 3 different Snowflakes we have right now are the Paladise Barrel which is aged in a house red wine produced in Palisade, the Colorado Port Barrel and the Cabernet Franc Barrel." All in all it was a great experience!

Let me begin with the beer is great German beer so if thats all youre into then youre fine. If youre here for the food then thats when the trouble begins. The menu is misleading and they dont tell you what exactly is in anything. We ordered the big ass pretzel which is way more of a medium ass sized pretzel and it comes with dipping sauces. Those dipping sauces are mustard and cheese. But theyre not! Theyre onions covered in cheese and mustard. For someone who is allergic to onions this is very unpleasant. I know whats in obatzda and onions are not. Nevertheless we had to send it back. Our waiter then decided to never provide service again and gave us our bill and left. Even though we were nonconfrontational and ready to order something different. You can get beer anywhere in Denver so we wont be back.

This place is awesome! Yeah, its in a weird location but its actually pretty handy if youre coming from I-25. Once you find it youre sure to find a table because its a pretty big restaurant. Their menu features a new spin on classic dishes like pizza, burgers, and sandwiches. They also do oven fries that are so very, very good. The servers are always quick and cheerful, too. Of course, you probably went to Rackhouse because its attached to the Stranahans whiskey distillery. If youre here, you definitely want to go on one of the free tours (online reservations are recommended). If youve already done the tour, get a glass of whiskey and life is good.

I love this place. I love the food, beer and cocktails. My favorite cocktail is the Whiskey Thyme. a must try. Burgers, pizza and food is always delicious. I am not a fan of the new appetizer item the Empanadas. My only complaint is the wait staff. Last two times I was there, we had to wait 20 minutes to get waters and a half an hour to even order a drink. The rest of the service was bad, the waitress rarely came to our table and ordering food took forever! Good thing I love the food or else we would not come back. Lunch is less crowded and your best bet for good food AND service. Late night weekend dinner, I always seem to get crappy service.

My fiancee and I were looking for a place to host our low-key engagement party, and settled on The Rackhouse because of their food and atmosphere. Jessica assisted me with the planning, and she was incredibly kind and generous. On the day of our party, we had plenty of space and a very capable server for our 20+ person party. The food remains exceptional, especially the mac, and the on-site brewed ciders and ales are noteworthy too. The space is gorgeous, with skyline and mountain views, and a lofted seating area overlooking the production areas.

Yelp stated they served food until 11pm. Came in at 10:30pm asked one of the people who worked there if they were still serving food and he said yes. When we sat down the server who came to our table said they werent serving food. He could tell by our faces were werent happy with that so he said he was going to check with the kitchen. When he came back 5 minutes later he said they were serving only appetizers. We glanced at the menu and there was nothing we could eat. Grabbed a cider and left. Just a disappointing experience.

We went for an early dinner around 4:00pm so it wasnt very busy. The waiter had no personality whatsoever and took a very long time to take our drink order. My beer came in this skinny foo foo stemware glass and they serve wine in a low boy glass -very strange. The food was terrible with the exception of the French dip sandwich. My burger was over cooked and not prepared right. We added salmon to a salad and they served it with a very skinny (3/4") piece. Disappointing.

Wife and I went for an early dinner--I had the bison stew, a Laughing Lab Scottish ale and a glass of the Stranahans Colorado Whiskey. The stew was unctuous, rich, and savory--the beer was malty and full bodied and the whiskey was full of honey, vanilla, and warm, almost brandy-like rich scents. My wife hat the roast chicken with a side of the mac and cheese and loved them both. Awesome place, we will be going back.

Not the same as it used to be but still delicious. Seriously, get the mac and cheese. Its amazing. The duck fat french fries are some of the best Ive ever had. I had the Jaeger schnitzel and it ended up being a bit too dry for my taste but still good. The mustard potatoes that come with it are fairly good as well. Nice atmosphere, nice space, a bit expensive. Will be back but not too often.

WooHoo! Im glad the Rackhouse is back! I loved the place when they were @ Stranahans. I stopped in last night and tried the house beer which was top notch. The Porchetta sandwich was on point and the duck fries are the best in town. Yes, I just wrote that, the best in town! This is a very cool re-purposed industrial space too. Give them a go! I will be back many times, I just know it!
