Any person who does not give La Cocinita five stars, hands down, does not know good Mexican food or good people. We love Mexican food and the food at La Cocinita is the best in town! The green chile is delicious, the chips are warm, crispy, and plentiful! The carnitas are excellent, the burrito supremes are great, and the rellenos are wonderful!! There has never been a dish we have ordered we didnt enjoy. The margaritas are good and the beers are always cold.Top it off with a round of sopapillas slathered in honey and you will be in heaven! Ambiance? We have been going to La Cocinita since my daughter was an infant and she would only eat rice and beans. Nothing more. Her brother and I would walk from our home almost nightly so she could eat. She is now 13 and we still go there frequently. Jose is the best as are all the other wait staff-we feel like family there. They know my daughter by name and take care of her as if she was still the baby they once knew GREAT AMBIANCE, GREAT FOOD, GREAT PEOPLE

Friend recommended this restaurant, so we were looking forward to going there. Didnt care at all for the salsa, tasted like stewed tomatoes. The chips were very good, warm and crispy. The food arrived quickly, was really enjoying my meal until.......I found a hair in my chile relleno. The manager didnt seem to concerned, it was like oh well. My friend requested we not be charged for the meal. They did take it off the bill, as they well should of, without us even asking. The manager was rude to us when we left. The food may be cheap and it is good, but.....I wonder now what the kitchen looks like. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU STAY AWAY from this place. Unless you like hair with your meal and a rude manager.

Review from a real Mexican: the food lacks quality here. The meat was fatty, cheap and skimpy. The shrimp cocktail tasted like tomatoe juice and water with defrosted shrimp. Then the bill was hefty considering the poor quality in food. They told me they had no tequila because they forgot to order more. I feel bad for the Americans in the area who think this place is legit. I saw them pour some margaritas but without tequila lol but hey they figure the gringos wont notice. I reject the high ratings. This real Mexican came in like the profit and debunked this joint. I recommend D Corazon I would have went there but its closed on Sundays. Never again. It should be l cinchina restaurant not Cocina.

Where do I start? Just ate at this place. ... no queso. They dont serve it. The chips needed some salt and seemed to be generic store bought. I can get tamales from a Hormel can that are just as good. (In other words yuch!) The cheese enchilada was just ok. the taco was mushy meat and bland. the quacamole was thin and warm instead of chilled and chunky. The only redeeming thing was the beans and rice. .. but dont look for full portions of these. Bottom line, this Texan who knows good Mexican food says you should find somewhereelse for mMexican food. Taco Bell is a better bet and its cheaper.

Terrible. Saw it had above average reviews and was looking for a spot to eat quick Mexican food. Plate was hot and rice was dry as if it had been sitting under a heat lamp for hours. Food was greasy and very non authentic. I dont understand how some of these people here can consider it "real" Mexican food when the taco shells are the same at Taco Bell and for cheaper. Unbelievably disappointed. Really shocked at some of the five star reviews. Theres waaaaaay better Mexican at Larimer Square near downtown Denver and thats saying something.

See you at the top
Waited a long time out on the patio to get service and there wasnt a lot of people. All the food ingredients were cheap. Example: The corn tortillas were falling apart and the chips were breaking into pieces before you could eat them. The al carbon meat in my tacos was 80% fat. The refried beans tasted odd. I am shocked at the 4.2 review people must be extremely high. I feel like the people rating it dont understand authentic Mexican food. I am hispanic and this food lacks flavor, spice, and passion. Its a restaurant with no soul.

The food is usually good. The service is usually not, but they have days where it is better than others. They are definitely cheap and for the food you get, reasonable! Had a few times when the food wasnt what I ordered. One of them, I told the server but he insisted I eat what he brought (pushy). They are slow sometimes too. If you are ready to leave, just walk up to the cash register and someone will ring you up, even if you havent received your ticket.

My family and I go there almost every week! I would suggest going there and not listening to all these other peoples crap! It is amazing and its the only REAL mexican food you can find in the highlands! The service is great and the food is AMAZING! It also cheap money wise when the food is rich! They wont stop bringing you chips and salsa so just say that is enough when you are done. Once again highly recommend it and is a awesome family restaurant!

you know what they say: you pay for what you get!!! yeah the prices are a little less then other Mexican restaurant but the quality and portion are cheap as well...they are very small and if you complain they say "well the food is cheap" i use to have a cousin who worked in there kitchen, and trust me, you dont want to know why the prices are low!!!! sometimes its better to do quality over quantity (in this case, its lack of quantity as well)!!!

Best Chile Rellanos ive ever had! And incredibly cheap. Theyre extremely nice to you as long as youre NICE TO THEM! If youre the type that thinks a place should bend over backwards for you and just be grateful that you graced them with your presence, then by all means dont go there and leave the awesomness to the rest of us that think being polite and kind will take you farther than rude and pushy.

Affordably delicious with no frills. La Cocinita is no spectacular, five-star eatery, but it will provide a decent meal and without breakin the bank. You can get a sit-down meal for $6 a plate. Our dinner for two (with a brewsky and a margarita) barely broke $20. The staff seemed friendly enough, but more than that were prompt and attentive with our order. Overall, not half bad in my book.

I have been coming here for the past 10-15 years. & i just sat down and the waiter refused to serve me. The young girl came in asked and he insisted he wouldnt wait my table. She did it and was very nice. Disappointing. That there foh staff treats people that way when the food is good but i wont be returning because the tall fat bad skin waiter has a problem with me for some reason.....?

I have been eating here for over 10 years. The BEST Mexican food in town and at reasonable prices. Roberto the male waiter is the BEST server we have ever had, he always goes above and beyond to provide amazing service to our family. I always recommend this restaurant to everyone <3 Keep up the good work and making delicious food!!!! -FAMILIA SILVA
