Whens here with a couple of friends who had previously had a good experience so I had high hopes and while the overall experience wasnt terrible... the service attentive and the decor is comfortable... I was very disappointed in the quality of my entree and the poor value I received. I do need to know that my companions, while mentioning that they had a better experience on their previous visit, seemed satisfied with both of their entrees...though a $90 bill for three people who had entrees and one beer each is a little steep. I ordered the seafood chimichanga which I have had at another local restaurant and was excellent. Unfortunately this one was barely five inches in length once I found it smothered beneath some distasteful sour cream mixture rather than the sour cream and guacamole being on the side as the menu leads one to believe. Once finding the mini chimney buried underneath all that "sauce" and with the other 3/4ths of the plate covered with beans, rice and ensalata, I discovered I could taste nothing of the flavor of what little Seafood I was able to find in the chimichanga because of the overwhelming sour cream mixture that had been slathered all over it. Very disappointing for an almost $15 entree.

Absolutely the finest Mexican restaurant in Colorado. Fresh, flavourful, robust, mind blowing. The salsa is an elixir of flavour and is served with warm tortilla chips and frijoles. To their credit, whomever manages this place hires only the best servers, and the culinary team is out of this world! We drive all the way from Palmer Lake every chance we get to enjoy this hard found treasure. Highly recommend the veggie fajitas with its mouthwatering grilled red peppers and flavourful roasted carrots, or just add them to your steak or chicken fajitas. We searched Gunnison, Crested Butte, North Denver, South, East and West Denver, Durango, Co Spgs, Golden, Castle Rock, Pueblo, Arvada, all over the state until we found THIS (other similarly named restaurants do not) live up to the VERY best, Pueblo Viejo on NORTH, (not South!) 5598 N. Academy!

Started driving up to this location because it was so good....at first. Idk if its because the last two times they sat us in the bar area or what. But the service was just seriously lacking after food and drink was served. Its like we were forgotten! We sat there attempting to wave people down to get refills on soda and tortillas, no one came by to see of we were enjoying our meal. We waved down another waitress to ask for the check and she asked "oh no dessert then?" As if thats what they were waiting on. If We havent been left sitting there so long. No one offered us to go boxes even though clearly we had masses of food left over (thats a plus for them though a lot of food!). This morning my family woke up with pain in our stomachs. So bummed.

Wow . Never eat here again. Way over price. The service was horible. Food was dry. Management is b.s. . Waiter splashed water (attitude of the guy) . $16 for a plate of fish that i always get, but the fish was over fried and all bones. So i asked for extra rice to fill the plate. $4 The management ask me do i know how much it cost them to have this place? Apparently they are trying to componsate their expensive and bad business by charging high price instead of good service. Eh, Whatever good luck. I dont have time to dwell on this . Bunch of pricks looking dudes havent gotten laid in a while. I wouldnt doubt if they dont like you they will spit in your food. Be awared. Lol

Never going again. The food wasnt good nor authentic. The waitresses kept forgetting to give us our drinks back after refilling them. Our orders came out at difficult times so half our party was done eating by the time others git their food. We went there at 3pm on Saturday and it wasnt busy. We got our car keyed in their parking lot too. P.s. if you speak Spanish tell them so the wait staff wont try and be sneaky and insult others in front of you. Party of 7 and a sleeping baby is alot but that was an opportunity to get a huge tip. If my father in law wasnt their I probably would have asked to not pay.

I went hear to eat with some friends, and while we were initially served fairly promptly, everything beyond that was like pulling teeth. Our server said hed take our drinks order after our food order, but he never came back, so I had to go to the bar to place my order. For dinner I ordered the fajitas, which is generous in the portion size, but the problem is that they give you only 3 tortillas, and a light sprinkling of cheese. It took me no less than 5 tries to actually flag down someone to get more, and even then, they only brought me two more tortillas. Not impressed.

Ordered shrimp cocktail was not impressed. Sauce was lacking in flavor, barely any veggies, they even gave me ketchup on the side which Ive never had happen before. Enchiladas (beef) were basic to say the least, tamales were pretty dry. The chili rellenos (fried) were actually good and flavorful. I really wanted to like this place as the atmosphere was inviting and quiet. The service was excellent. Nice wait staff and timely, but I will not be coming back.

After Eating here with my Wife, I have concluded this is the best Mexican food place in town. The service was above outstanding, the food amazing, and whenever the drinks got halfway empty a new one arrived. The servers were polite and very cheery. This place has become our new favorite spot for Mexican food.

I had the grilled chicken tacos with rice and beans. It had a wonderful flavor that I have never tasted in a taco. I would eat again. My husband ordered green beef enchiladas. Tasted good. Service was good. Tea glass never empty . We were there at off time but Cynthia was attentive. Would go again.

My wife and I loved the location on Academy so we were really excited to see this one open up. Our first time to this one wasnt bad but not amazing. Each time after that got worse and worse. Over time it seems like the portions got smaller and the prices got higher. Big disappointment.

Just as good as the original. We were so happy when they showed up down the street. They moved into a building that had changed hands repeatedly. So glad that they stayed! The El Burrito Relleno is awesome! Great place to relax and enjoy a fantastic meal!

This is my favorite Mexican restaurant. I grew up eating authentic food in NM and this is as close to it as possible. The chile relleno is so good and they have the best margaritas! The staff is very friendly and they have live music on Friday nights.

Amazing food AND amazing service. Super friendly. The avocado relleno is delicious. Im not sure what the person who said the portions were small ordered, but ours were huge. The beans with the salsa and chips were a nice touch. Definitely recommend.
