Ive gotten a few pastries from this place and they were just so so. The cookies taste like nothing though. Since there arent any other bakeries in Castle Rock I went in to get a quote on a Cake. The first time I went in no one could help me so they called me later that day and told me to come back in for another quote. I asked if we could talk over the phone and they said they couldnt talk to me over the phone about it. It was one of the owners on the phone, she was slightly rude and acted like she didnt need my business if it was an inconvenience to her. I went in to talk to her anyways and her prices were slightly high, but worse then that, her personality was rude and she acted like how dare I tell her that I didnt want to spend a crazy amount on a cake. She said rudely to me, "it isnt free!" Then she proceeded to tell me that the cake didnt taste like alot because it was European influence. Anyways, she never gave me a straight quote. When I called back and asked for one she never got back to me. I could tell that she could care less about me as a customer so I decided that since she came across rude, her pastries didnt taste like much and since she said the cakes didnt taste like much, that I was probably better off going to a bakery in highlands ranch. Cheaper and better tasting. So think twice about going to this bakery.

Wow. I had the luck of stopping by Dream Pastries farmers market booth at the local Castle Rock Farmers Market in September 2010. At first, I thought it was just another local bakery. After a bite or two of an Apricot Croissant, I knew I was in sweet treat heaven. The outer layer of the croissant had a flaky texture with a light crunch while the inner layers were very moist. The apricots tasted so fresh; it took only seconds even, before my 14 month old son was hooked too. On my way home from the farmers market, I just happened to notice a storefront on Perry Street named Dream Pastries. At this point, I made a mental note; to make a special trip back to Castle Rock another day to visit the actual store. Today was the day. Once again, I opted for the Apricot Croissant and an Almond Croissant. I also had the chance to try my wifes Raspberry Cream Cheese Croissant and some Banana Bread. All options were out of this world, just like I remembered. The house coffee, served nicely in a real mug was just right. Upon sitting down at one of the inside tables we were quickly given two place settings and two glasses of water. Service par excellence! Cant wait to return.

WORST EXPERIENCE WITH ANY BUSINESS no customer service or satisfaction garenteed or anything! We ordered a cake for a baby shower, the children behind the desk showed pictures and a light yellow cake was picked. We then asked to have little baby animals placed on it to match the theme and was asked to send pictures. I sent four pictures of fondant animals and only they could pick three but we wanted three animals. They said that was a $15 upcharge, fine since they were so cute. Went to pick up the cake the night before, and it was this bright Easter Yellow with brown stripes and dark purple writting. We explained this was not a baby shower cake but an easter cake and it wasnt what we ordered, it only had two of the animals on it. The guy behind the counter said too bad. We then took it hoping that maybe we could add something to it. The owner said too bad when we wanted to return it, and said she was offended by our frustration. Safeway or Sams or King Soopers make way better cakes that dont taste like mush and arent ugly. Order at your own risk and be prepared for something completely different!!!!

Its interesting to see how people either seem to love or hate this shop. Ive been going there regularly for well over 10 years and I havent had any bad experiences. They provided the specially made baguettes for our wedding in 2006. They made the Chocolate Cake we took to a Christmas party last year. The cake was beautifully made and was a great success among guests who are used to fine food. We love their croissants--the almond and apricot croissants are our favorites. Service can be a bit slow sometimes, but this is a family owned business and you have to be a bit patient with them. Theyre just a little... different. It doesnt hurt to know when your favorite treats arrive fresh from the kitchen. If you want something extra, call them ahead of time and they make it for you. They have always treated me well, though Im only familiar to the baker, whos almost always in the kitchen. We go there once every few weeks.

Ive been living in castle rock for about ten years and eating at this place ,the food has been hit and miss, they tend to drown sandwiches in dressing but recently my wife brought back two spinach croissants to our home and when I opened them up they had been microwaved to the point of being unedible, what French bakery owns a microwave in the first place ! Shame Shame, when I called them up 10 minutes after they said yes thats how we heat our food... in the microwave !Ive asked to speak to the owner left my name and number and they have yet to call me back ,this was about a month ago ,Maybe their sweet dream is to go back to culinary school and learn how to make a sandwich, most of there cookies and such are good, they should just stick to that, Im done eating at this place how dare they cook with a microwave and call themselves a French bakery!!!

The first time we went here the food was great, the service not so much. The second time the cookies were dry and dull and it took, not lying, about 15 minutes to get 4 drinks from the coffee shop area. Today was the worst, and last, experience with Dream Pastries. The spinach and feta croissant was stale and cold, even though the girl behind the counter had heated it - I think she thought the toaster oven was a microwave. I asked her to re-heat it in the microwave but got about 30 seconds in the toaster oven. And then there was the coffee - if you are a coffee shop you should probably provide more than powdered creamer. Just sayin....... I will say the pastry my husband had was pretty good but not good enough to put up with rude and oh-so-slow customer service.

We ordered a cake for our sons graduation. By the time we got home, the cake (chocolate with mousse layer) had deflated and the outside layer had bubbled everywhere - yes it had already cooled and we drove a short 5 minutes to our home. At our party (2 hours later), most guests made no comments about the cakes taste and many left most of the cake on their plates and threw in the trash. VERY disappointing! The cakes are pretty - but be very careful on the taste. We also incurred a $15 upcharge after having pre-payed. Will not be returning. ** Safeway bakery (just down the road) makes great tasting cakes, frostings and has a variety of choices!
