My girlfriend & I went to the Blue Wing Saloon on July 24 2015. I know some locals of Upper Lake rant & rave about this establishment. We, however (and by reading some of these posts, other people as well) found the Blue Wing to be AWFUL! Let me explain why. 1st off, when we entered the hostess made us feel like she was doing us a favor simply by acknowledging us. She was snappy & we felt she was very rude. However, we resigned to the fact that everybody has a bad night, and decided since we made the trip from Willits wed still not allow her to ruin our evening. I swear though, it seemed only to get far worse as the evening wore on. When the waiter arrived, after what seemed like an eternity & reeking of cigg-smoke, his demeanor was so unbelievably cocky. He seemed to demand that we order what (maybe) the specials were... we never did find out, only told that his favorite was basically the only entree on the menu. Then when my girlfriend requested a glass of wine, he asked for id. No problem, she had hers as I did. What happened next was truly messed up. The waiter became very defensive, and acted as if we were trying to get over on him somehow with a fake id (let me be clear, if we wanted to try a some fake id to drink, which by the by shes 26 & Im 31, wed have went to a bar, not a restaurant). We both have very valid CA drivers lic.s... anyway, after all of that bickering, he finally got her a glass of wine. And would you know when he came back he said, " Well, even if your id is fake, this aint no expensive wine..." HOW RUDE! At that point, we decided that we would tell everyone with a set of ears about this HORRIBLE experience we had at the Blue Wing Saloon located in Upper Lake; CA. I wouldnt let my dog eat there, let alone friends or family I have. I cant understand why any establishment that exists on a main drag of a tiny town (really a village tho, right?) which has as many empty buildings on that main st as businesses, would not treat EVERY guest as GOLD! This is one place Ill never step foot in even if I was dying of hunger and/or thirst. Ta hell with the Blue Wing... folks, you have been warned... Maybe if your 50yrs or older, maybe you will be treated better. Seeing as though the entire staff that evening were younger, looking back at that night and our terrible experience, it still doesnt make much sense to either one of us... We came up with this though... maybe these kids running that place are so insulated/"clickish" that anybody UNDER the age of 50yrs is a threat... WOW... what a world we live in. Biggest waste of money, but NEVER again. I hope that place rots and goes out of business.

Our family had enjoyed a FANTASTIC dinner once before. Good grill, gourmet salads, a little overpriced, but very pleasant. I wanted to take my dad there one afternoon, so I called ahead to see if I needed reservations. A nice guy said not for two people; I stated we wanted to come for an afternoon meal. Saloon comes before Restaurant at Blue WIng... We arrived at 3:00, were seated, and handed a lunch menu. When ready to order, we were told that there was NOTHING from the grill. Just appetizers and salads. Blue Wing, just say that 3:00 to 4:00 is a no-grill zone over the phone please...This would have been nice to know AHEAD of time as we both were looking forward to a steak. It was difficult to re-mobilize my dad so we ate french fries and fried zucchini for supper that day. So weird to pay $40+ for missing the mark. We could not even get bread to go with our wine. Ended up cooking dinner at home anyway. Willing to try them again, especially since it is the ONLY cafe in and around Upper Lake (unless you drive to Robinson Rancheria).

We went here, coincidentally, during their annual blues festival. We were really bummed to find out that we could not go on the patio to listen while waiting for our food without a $10 armband. We were also surprised that indoor seating that weekend had a minimum of $20/person, though we had no problem reaching that minimum. Still though, that would have been a good thing to mention, or that theres the blues festival, when we made our reservation. We could only really hear the bands clearly when someone was coming in or out of the doors. Service was good and food was very tasty. I had the pork chops.

Finally a nice atmosphere place to eat on Clearlake. We were so pleased with the beautiful patio and sat outside. We ordered the BBQ ribs, which were smoky and salty but not the best and the fish tacos, which were good, not great. We ordered the shortbread with blueberries for desert and were disappointed that there were hardly any blueberries on it. Come on! Its California where berries are always in abundance! They had the good local wines available and we really liked our service. Honestly, just going to sit on the beautiful patio is worth it. The food is good for the area.

We ate here last night and at first enjoyed the outside dining area. The food was passable, the service was let down by our waitress although the bus boy was very helpful but the kicker was the extreme bug issue that has basically ruined my day today. I was bitten by whatever bugs they have there in MULTIPLE places and have been suffering badly. A warning would have been nice earlier rather than later when we were hustled inside amidst comments about the citronella running out. Anna Borcich, Fort Bragg

The Blue Wing is my choice for a nice dinner out in Lake County. This is where we take out of town guests, where we go for special occasion meals - especially when we can sit outside on warm summer evenings. For me going out to eat is an over all experience, not just food or just atmosphere or service but an overall pleasant experience. We can always count on the Blue Wing to give us this. Sometimes out in the garden with friends having a nice meal it feels pretty close to paradise.

My boyfriend and I love The Blue Wing....the food and the service are exceptional. We both had the smoked ribs. VERY tasty, and we LOVED the Caesar salad, and wished wed ordered the full portion. Not a problem....Its not our 1st visit here, wont be our last! We were also happy they were open, given its New Years Day. Our waitress, Mollie, is a sweetheart, and very promp and attentive. Thank you and Happy New Year, from Ed & Cindi.

Great food, Awesome service. Staff was very accommodating. Enjoyed every thing about the Blue Wing. Beautiful restoration of the original building by the present owners, the Butchers. This was done after the building sat idle for 10yrs. All should try Blue Wing on their trip through here.

We stop here twice per year on the way through. Food is always superb even though we waited quite a bit for our beer. We ordered the black and blue burger, sweet potato fries, and the house salad. Cooked perfectly and the dressing was to die for. Even a hot day the patio is pleasant.

Nice and unexpected. This restaurant stands out in the area by the high level quality of service and offering. Enjoyed in particular the outdoor setting, and the freshness of the ingredient used. High price to value of meal prevent me from giving a 5th star.
