Came here on a solo mission during ramen week to take advantage of a coupon. I got here super-early and happened to be the first in line, woohoo! The line grew quickly behind me as 5:30 approached; most seemed to be there for the ramen week coupon as well. As soon as the door opened I plopped myself down at the bar and perused the menu. I ordered the Hokkaido ramen & takoyaki. The place got pretty full quickly, and it was a lively atmosphere. In short order I got my food and I realized that the half-price coupon also meant a half-size portion, but since I also got the takoyaki it was probably a perfect portion. Indeed, at the end of the meal I felt pleasantly full and not overstuffed, as is too often the case. I really enjoyed the ramen--good flavor, nice firm noodles, and tender pork. The takoyaki was nothing to write home about, however--they tasted OK but I think they may have been the frozen kind that they just deep-fried. They didnt taste like the genuinely pan-fried ones; the batter wasnt quite dense enough and the flavor was a little bland, but at least it had the mayo and bonito flakes, which really helped. The service was speedy and fairly friendly--to be fair, it was really busy, which meant no time for pleasantries. Overall I was satisfied and thought it was a good ramen place, but I cant say Id go out of my way to re-visit, as I would places like Ramen Yamadaya, Hakata, or Shinengumi.

This was my first time having "real" ramen as opposed to the cheap ramen we buy in stores. I was impressed by the atmosphere that Ramen Hayatemaru had...small, intimate, and keeping with a Japanese style. I was immediately met by a friendly waitress who seated me at a bar counter like setting. She gave me their menu and helped answer questions I had about menu items. I ordered the soy pork ramen, which was delivered quickly. The ramen soup had a wonderful appearance. Instead of traditional soups spoons, I was given what I can describe as a small soup ladle spoon. While this added to the Japanese aura, it was more difficult to use with the ramen soup. I also ordered a diet Coke with was served in a can with a glass of ice. The ramen was wonderfully tasteful. My only complaints were the costs. Basically, $11 for a bowl of soup and a can of diet Coke. For that kind of price I would have liked to have free refills on the soda and a tad less expensive ramen. It would also be nice to offer a traditional spoon, since trying to eat ramen with the ladle spoon proved difficult to break up the pork slices, eggs, and ramen into spoon size bites. But still, it was a pleasant experience and truly a good bowl of ramen.

I always pass this place so been meaning to try. Thought the big sign out front advertising a great ramen would be true. False! The spot was pretty cool but when they brought the menu there werent too many ramen or food options. Got the spicy ramen for my son and that was ok. Ordered a regular one for me becauze it was the only one that I could order without pork . no other meat option offered! The noodles were pretty nasty. Kinda hard and had a weird flavor. Only had a few mushroom strings, some green onions and one seaweed. I was real disappointed. I also ordered some teriyaki chicken and the guy delivered a bowl with steam rice and about 6 small pieces of what looked like orange chicken not teriyaki chicken and it was a little salty and hardly taste like teriyaki at all! The service was ok. At least I finally tried it but dont be retuning

Came here for lunch around 1:30 on a weekday and they were packed. Not because they were especially busy but because the place fits maybe 20 people max, including a sectioned off raised sitting area for parties of 6. I ended up at the bar with two people invading in on my personal bubble; luckily both finished their meals before my food came. I got their lunch special with entails a decent sized bowl of ramen (soy sauce/salt/miso/spicy miso) and a small bowl with your choice of fried rice, curry, teriyaki chicken or chashu. Service is slow and the cooks are slower.. The ramen wasn’t spectacular but it wasn’t garbage.

I went here with my boyfriend for the first time and he really loved his food (he ordered the spicy pork ramen). Me, on the other hand, I ordered the white miso ramen and it tasted way too salty to my liking and the noodles tasted bland. I loved the taste of the pork and their service was pretty quick. For first timers, I suggest you get the regular size just to be on the safe side.

Good, solid, ramen. In most towns, this would be top of the class. But there is a lot of competition. When I feel like a good spicy miso and really want a draft beer with it, this is a great choice.

Great food, great service. Go here all the time with my three year old daughter. I dont agree with the previous review that they dont like white people. Im white and theyve always treated me kindly.

I didnt come for the pork...I came for the dashi and the men (soup and noodles). I was not disappointed. Rich and flavorful dashi, and the men was very full bodied. I will definitely be back.

Great food, reminded me of being back in Japan. We stumbled upon the restaurant and decided it was healthier than the fast food chicken place we were headed. Very nice wait staff too.

Great tasty ramen. Service was on the slow end. Window tables are nice spots. There are only 3 dinky thin slices of pork and some pieces of veggie in my large-order bow.

Service was quick and friendly. The chicken karrage could have been crispier and was a bit bland. The tonkotsu was good but also a little under seasoned.

Only ⭐⭐⭐⭐, cause the calamary was such a small portion and very greasy(and overpriced), but the spicy miso was great..

Sorry. The ramen was just average. Just three different soup base. I think it used to be better several years ago.
