This place is definitely old school and family run, but that is not a bad thing at all. Having dined in both the dining room and the bar, I can say the bar has far more character to it. The dining room is caught in a bit of a time warp, and not necessarily in the best way. When you walk in, you approach a counter will all the meat in a case and you select your preferred cut and tell them how you want it cooked. You then proceed to your table and finish your order with your server. There is plenty to choose from and you wont go home hungry, but the menu is not extensive and the place is not fancy or pretentious. They just focus on serving a solid old school steakhouse experience. Service has been great every time we have been there!

El Rancho is a different place by day and by night. The lunch menu has a daily special, a good burger and a great "flat" steak. The steak is lightly marinated and gets its name not from the cut of beef, but from the fact that it is thin. Lunch will set you back less than $15 a plate out the door. At night, sit in the cozy bar with candidate signs from long past elections and have a cocktail in preparation for a classic steakhouse meal centered on gigantic, well prepared cuts of meat. The filet is the size of a mushball. But dont expect lunchtime pricing. Dinner entrees run up to $40.

It may not look like much from the outside, not fancy looking on the inside, but YOU WONT GET BETTER STEAK & LOBSTER anywhere. And you choose it yourself from the display case. Im from the Portland area, but always make it a point to eat there whenever I am in the Stockton area. Only open tue-sat I found out when I tried on monday once and was sad they werent open. Really, really good food & service. A bit spendy, but worth it.

A small gem located in an otherwise restaurant sparse area. The menu doesnt contain a broad variety of options but it executes wonderfully on the few options listed. It reminds me of an old supper club with big portions of steak, fries, etc. It runs a little on the pricey side but you will most likely leave with leftovers. I went on a weeknight and the place was half empty which made an atmosphere nice for dinner conversation.

We went for our anniversary. They have a simple down to earth menu. Basically steak n lobster. Dont mind paying the price for a great meal. However, my husband rib eye wasnt all that, he said it needed seasoning or something. He loves Texas Roadhouse to b exact. My lobster meal was great and a lot of food. Comes with baked potato, onion rings, bread n big salad also. Kids meals are big too.

You get to pick your steak so you can see how fresh and perfectly marbled their meat is. Then it was cooked to perfection! (Chose the ribeye medium rare, melted in my mouth!)The whole meal was fresh and flavored just right. The lobster was a huge Australian tail that tasted very fresh. The whole staff made it a special night! One of the best meals I have ever had in Stockton.

Any old Stocktonian will agree that this is still the best steakhouse. Years ago I remember pointing to the spot on the loin where they would cut it, grill it, and bring it to the table. My Uncles favorite place to go! Still serves a wonderful steak and anytime my young ignorant friends want to go to Outback or Cattlemans I bring them here and they always thank me afterwards!

Best steak house in Stockton! Excellent service, comfortable atmosphere, and delicous food. The steak was cooked perfect! While this is primarily a steak house there are other choices - such as chicken and lobster which are also very good. A party of four will run you about $175 without drinks, which is reasonable for the quality of food and service. Highly recommended!

Traveling down the I-5, getting close to dinner time, I Googled "Steakhouse near I-5 in Stockton". El Rancho Inn Steak & Lobster came up. When we pulled up, there were only 3 cars in the parking lot. Best steak EVER, place was packed by the time we left! Olivia was our server and she was great also! We will definitely be back next time we drive through Stockton.

Waitress service was pretty bad and rude, food was pretty expensive and bad plate presentation for a $9 plate..onion rings look like the got it from dollar store, they were small and greasy!! Stake and lobster was the only thing done right but unfortunately I would not go back for $90 dinner plate..I am pretty sure they can do better service and dish presentation..

Serves delicious, aged corn-fed Iowa beef. The best steak dinner in Stockton. Casual and friendly. A very plain dining room in need of some style. One price meal includes everything. Usually busy except on days like Valentines Day when you get there early or you dont get in at all. Reservations for groups of 6 or more.

Great place to grab a steak in the Central Valley. My favor place to get a filled mignon prepared. Not an overwhelming amount of side options but it doesnt really matter because people come here for the steak. Also have the options of lobster and chicken. Some may think a bit pricey but well worth the cost IMHO.

Lunch was fabulous, portions were extremely genorous and lunch prices were surprisingly reasonable considering they are a steakhouse. Service was great on a scale of 1-10 for lunch I give it a 10! Cant speak on their dinner but after this lunch I cant wait to do dinner.

I really love the atmosphere of these older, established icons of the past. And lets face it, these icons are only still in business after decades because they serve some of the best food youll ever get eating out. The service is outstanding as well.

We eat at this restaurant often. I always go with their lunch buffet with different types of pasta together with the antipasto and the salad bar. Their spaghetti with their famous meat sauce is to die for.

The food was very good and filling. The steak took a while to be cooked but it was well worth the wait and they brought out bread and salad that was delicious. Its a bit pricey but Id say its worth it.

Steak was good not great! The customer service was great. Dining area looks like a old cabin lacking renovation. Wife fell in love with the prawns. Upscale pricing but not upscale environment.
