I love this place!! If youre looking for excellent diner/coffee shop food, this is the place. Its not Spago, but its a great place to get a sandwich, salad, burger, breakfast, etc. My favorite sandwich is the Reuben. You will simply not find a better reuben sandwich anywhere in Los Angeles (I know, Ive looked). Great carrot cake too! And their zucchini bread--unbelievably moist and delicious warmed up with a little butter!! (They sell it by the loaf). Lots of great salads too! My favorite is the Chinese Chicken Salad or the Romaine Curry salad. For the dinner salad, I LOVE their creamy italian...mmmm. Ive never had anything on the entire menu that wasnt excellent. Aside from the South Pasadena location, there is another one on Central Avenue in Glendale. I think the one on Arroyo Parkway in Pasadena closed but I could be wrong. Items they no longer have but should: the long-gone "haliburger" that used to be on the menu eons ago. It was a patty made of ground up halibut and spices, grilled, and put together burger-style. I have never been able to find a fish-burger anywhere that was better that this Haliburger. I beg for them to put it back on the menu every time I go. I also miss the chocolate-mousse pie that used to be on the menu too. I was perfect chocolate mousse served pie-style...I could eat the whole thing (in increments). Aside from those mysterious deletions from the menu, there are still tons of delicious choices to choose from! Long live Shakers!

Great food, great service and great atmosphere. The ideal diner. I ordered bacon, hash browns and fried eggs, which were all phenomenal by the way, and when the food came out, the waitress had mistakenly gaven me scrambled eggs. I didnt say anything because I dont like to make a fuss at restaurants, but about 10 seconds later, the waitress came back and said she had just realized that I had ordered fried eggs and she had forgotten. She quickly took away my scrambled eggs and brought fresh fried eggs. To me this shows true appreciation for customers. I say 5/5 also, fired eggs will have their whites runny (which I like) unless you order them otherwise

Great friends of mine invited me there onetime now I go almost twice a week. I have not had one thing that I do not like or that I would no order again. Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, etc. everything is delicious. Margret is the best waitress by far there, she makes you feel at home and takes care of one like mom. Suzy the manager, is also extremely kind and treats one like family as well. I love this place so much, Im going again tonight. The only thing they are missing is some potato salad.

Worst customer service ever. Older fat Latina lady with a cross on her neck was the slowest server I have ever had. Went with my coworker and girlfriend. This woman kept rolling her eyes at my girl and kept on repeating how long her day was and how tired she is. I told her to cheer up. She messed up our orders and added nasty bacon to one of our omelletes. She said to grab a fork and pick them out. Bathrooms were clean though. Thats the only bright side.

As a regular of Shakers I was disappointed to find that theyve reacted to the recent economic troubles by skimping on the ingredients that matter. Their BLT sandwich with one strip of bacon for $8 is a rip-off. Their once highly regarded chopped chicken salad is now a "hunt the chicken and dressing" game. Only if you like lettuce will you be happy. Need to get the accountant out of the kitchen and let the chef do his/her job.

If youre looking for a fantastic diner then you need to go here! The service is top notch, the food is great, the portions are generous, and the ambiance is super mellow. One of the aspects I love about this place is that is has the "diner" feel but at the same time you as easily believe youre in a far more fancy restaurant. In summary, this place is awesome and you have to try it!

Went for the first time. A little pricy but good. I ordered steak and eggs. The steak was cooked perfectly. Very juicy and flavorful. Also ordered the boysenberry berry pie ala mode. Yummy. Our waitress was very friendly but we did notice one waitress who seemed to have an annoyed attitude. Sometimes making faces after she walked away from customers. But all in all, well be back.

South Pasadena institution serving decent diner fare. No better or worse than other similar styled restaurants, though the decor desperately needs an update. Not a bad place for a late breakfast or low-key brunch. Very popular with senior citizens. Also, I once saw the kitchen light one of their dishes on fire, though they took care of it quickly.

Good home-style cooking. Waffles are their specialty in the AM. The atmosphere is of a 60s/70s diner. They were extremely busy on our last stop so the food took an extra long time. Waitress gave us some of their famous zucchini bread for the delay in service. Omelets were excellent. Just the right combination of flavors.

This is our go-to place to eat, because they have the best vegetable soup and rueben sandwiches around! I like almost everything on the menu and, more importantly, my kids like it too! Its not too expensive and the food is great! Id recommend it to anyone for the feeling of a home-cooked meal out.

Standard diner fare. Lots of regulars come here, so it can get crowded around weekend mornings. Weekdays it isnt that crowded, but there arent as many employees so there can be a bit of wait for service. I get the belgian waffle combo here, on weekdays it is $2 off.

Shakers is a decent diner in South Pasadena. It is my go to diner in So Pasadena. Prices are relatively cheaper than other diners around the neighborhood. Staff are friendly and competent. Service is fast but depends on the day and time.

Food was tasteless, Lemonade was like water service was great as far as the staff but They seem to cater to the more elderly side of people. So if your young youll probably be the only one in there under 50 .

Always a good option! Breakfast is great. The zucchini bread is delicious! Lunch and dinner options arent anything marvelous but it does the job. Staff always nice and plenty of parking! Solid restaurant.

Shakers is a quaint corner restaurant with very good food. And if you have trouble keeping a conversation going, there are large screen televisions placed strategically around the dining areas ;-D .

What a great diner. For a great, cozy breakfast place, youd be hard pressed to find a nicer one. A little pricey but definitely worth it for the atmosphere and the service. Love coming here!

Old school Diner. Waiters are nice. I go there for lunch sometimes and I like their potato pancakes. Make sure you order them with their signature homemade zucchini bread, its very good.
