Have eaten here several times in the past two years or so. Never had a complaint. Had takeout the other night however and was the WORST thai I have ever had. Had pad se ew and the noodles were not only overcooked but had a strange taste to them..almost like they had cooked something in the pan before them and the taste had remained-and it wasnt good. Perhaps a slight fish taste? There was also very little of the sauce that makes the dish so good (sweet soy or black bean depending on where you go) and the noodles were clumped together. The broccoli in the dish also had a strange perhaps powdered MSG ? flavor-didnt help the food. Sorry, it was just plain gross. Also had the crab and cheese wontons. The cream cheese inside the wontons was watery and had a congealed consistency. The entire meal was like eating something you really didnt like as a kid, just to get it down. $20 for one person. What a waste of money. Hope the restaurant sees this and improves their food.

Food: This is the best thai place in Sherman Oaks weve found since moving here. Such great prices. I always get the Pad See Ew and Panang Curry (I basically gauge every thai places by these two dishes - Kao Cafe passes with flying colors. This is also where I discovered THAI ICED COFFEE! Its just as amazing as Thai Iced Tea, possibly even better! This is definitely my go to neighborhood thai restaurant. Atmosphere: Semi-moody and relaxing. Great place to chill after a long day at work and chat with friends. Service: Great.

Im pretty satisfied with their food. I ordered pineapple curry, green curry fried rice, and pad see ew. Everything was good and if you cant really eat spicy make sure order mild... Because the green curry fried rice is a little bit spicy for mild. Make sure to order their brown rice. Their thai coffee is pre-made and it is too sweet. Overall, this is a good place to go to when youre craving thai food. Food came out pretty fast and servers are nice.

Wow! This place has great food. We tried their main dish as a soup Kao Cafe - very good. Ordered it mild and it was still pretty spicy to us, but thats normal at most Thai places. Also had the pad see eiw with pork- I had never had anything like it. I think I like pad Thai more, but this was still very good.I would like to go back to this place and try more dishes. Very good value, dish sizes were large for the cost.

Homey, affordable, and yummy. Kao has the qualities you expect out of a neighborhood Thai place. Sometimes its easy to take Thai food for granted given how common they are, but Kaos curry might actually get you to re-appreciate the complexity of an unidentifiable mixture of spices.

We found this place a few months ago and its the best Thai food weve had in awhile. It takes a bit to get your food as the kitchen is small and they always have lots of take out orders. I highly recommend this place.

This restaurant has some incredible Thai food at great prices. I usually go for their fried rice or basil stir fry, but anything else Ive had is great. The staff is always very friendly and they serve quickly.

This place has a not so great location but really good food at a low price. I come here with my coworkers all the time for lunch and you get a lot for just $8. It doesnt have the curb appeal but its worth a try
