their service and preparation has changed (and not for the better). The original restaurant decor was somewhat medieval with a hint of eclectic. With this new restaurant, the decor has changed to 60s pop art meets odd. For example, they have chrome chairs in the front that double as icebergs. Not a good idea to have these sitting right by the front door (which was wide open) in the winter. Funny, though, these cold chrome chairs would become quite symbolic of the waitstaffs attitude and the restaurant as a whole. We arrived for desert and were surprised by the move and the decor. But, we were also surprised the way they handle their deserts. I could excuse the new decor if the service and food had remained as good. But, unfortunately, the service and deserts have as drastically changed as the atmosphere. In the old location, the wait staff took the time to hand stir the ingredients and ensure the proper consistency. Now, they use premixed chocolate deserts that cant be altered and never stop by to stir it. When the desert arrives, it ends up this semi-congealed brown glop that never fully melts. Because the deserts are premixed, I couldnt ask for any alterations. Worse, the ala carte selections dont offer the same ingredients of the premixed. The desert we ordered supposedly had some liquer flavorings and spices, but I never tasted any of it. It tasted like hot somewhat chocolate flavored goo. In fact, I dont think it ever melted, it just got hot and thicker. With the dipping items, we wanted to get rid of the Snickers and cream cheese balls and replace them with fruit. Again, we were told that these deserts are premade and told to just to pick them out and order more fruit later. They did bring more fruit later, but what a waste. The wait persons presence was sparse and towards the last half of the meal never stopped by at all. I also noticed that they are now using Canola oil for frying. I guess La Fondue didnt get the memo. Canola oil is not the best for frying anything. Peanut and Vegetable remain the two best oils for frying. Canola oil is also made from the same plant as motor oil, with the exception that Canola oil has the toxins removed through genetic alterations. I do not consider Canola oil a healthy oil for this reason alone. Sadly, this new La Fondue with their preprepared ingredient system indicates they really dont favor personal service over cookie cutter (i.e., McDonalds) type preparation. Because of this lack of personal service alone, I wouldnt recommend La Fondue for desert (let alone for dinner). If they decide to go back to personal service and allow for alterations and requests, then I might consider eating there again. Id also recommend they rethink their deserts and actually start with real chocolate instead of some preprepared goo. This is most definitely not a 5 star restaurant. The main reason you go to a restaurant is for the food, not the decor. I think La Fondue has forgotten this in the move to their new location.

Visited La Fondue last night with a friend, we had a groupon otherwise we would not have been able to afford. We arrived early and were seated quickly. The atmosphere is very nice as so was the wait staff. The salads were wonderful. When it came time for the fondue the waiter and I were talking about the dipping options and I mentioned I have celiacs. He immediately caught onto that and explained the cheese he used was tossed with wheat to thicken and asked if it would cause me harm. I said it would. He then cleared the table and came back with an entirely new fondue pot and cheese that had been tossed in cornstarch to thicken instead. The fondue was delicious! When the dipping elements came the staff made sure the bread was on the other side of the table from me and when the meat came out they made sure all the meats that had been marinated with a component I could not eat were on a separate platter. I very much appreciated that. The entire experience was enjoyable. The only downside was my glass had a chip in it and when they cleared the plates from the salad service they failed to bring new plates out for the meats so my friend and I just brought the meat from the grill to our mouths. We dripped on the table but it was a lot of fun. We actually did not realize we were supposed to have plates until we looked at the people next to us and saw they had plates! So that was our fault also. The groupon ($155.00) did nor cover all the charges. I still had to pay a $14.00 fee. And I honestly do not feel the meal was worth, what the receipt said it was worth $405.00. But it was a fun night.

My boyfriend and I took the 40 minute drive to enjoy the chocolate dessert fondue option for the first time, only to be disappointed. The manager nearly turned us away because the restaurant has a hidden policy, which states the chocolate fondue dessert only option is "unavailable on holiday weekends", and he insisted that the policy is on the restaurant website. This is what the website states: Customers wanting only chocolate fondue may join us after the dinner hour Sunday thru Thursday nights between 9:30 - 10:00pm, and Friday thru Saturday nights between 10:30 - 11:00pm on a first come, first served basis, for walkins only! Also, they do not answer their phones to clarify. They have an automated voice mail, which states the policy that is posted on their website. Needless to say, my boyfriend and I were really disappointed to receive this kind of treatment. Regardless, we still wanted to try the dessert option that everyone talks about, so we took the managers offer to eat it in the lobby (as they wouldnt allow us to dine in the actual restaurant). Because we were in the lobby, we witnessed the manager turn at least 4 other customer parties away, including a party of 4 that was celebrating a birthday (I felt so sorry for the birthday girl). The demeanor of the restaurant was shameful that night, and my boyfriend and I really didnt want to give our money to this type of establishment. And honestly, I dont know what the buzz is about because I can make better chocolate fondue at home with Toll House chocolate morsels.

My boyfriend took me here for a surprise dinner date, I actually guessed it because its a restaurant I wanted to try for awhile, plus he said to make sure I come with a big appetite. We arrived 15 minutes early and didnt mind at all to wait as they serve you drinks and sit on these cool looking chairs. One thing I wasnt impressed with is the bread and veggies were already at the table waiting for us, who knows how long they were sitting there. Anyway we had the Stinking Rose Cheddar to go with our bread and veggies, which was good and so was my spinach salad. Well, first look at my salad and I thought what the hell is the then I found myself not being able to put it down. My boyfriend talked me into getting the Wild Thing which is a taste of everything wild(crocodile, alligator, wild boar, venison, llama, buffalo..., although we did switch the ostrich for shrimp) cant say I liked them all but I liked some. Plus the fact we got Lobster Bisque didnt help, I wish our waitress pushed us to get something different but thats totally our fault. And the finally The Decadent One chocolate fondue and we dipped marshmallows, strawberries, apples, everything, yum! Oh and one last thing to mention is the decor, absolutely amazing! Not going to say anymore but experience La Fondue for yourself and make sure to bring your paycheck!
