Escargot is on point, French onion soup was very good, the broth was beefy and will seasoned. The mussels appetizer was probably better than the all the many dishes that I had in France and Belgium. Dinner was on point, I appreciated the variety of vegetable dishes (spinach sauted with garlic and garnished with dilled carrot matchsticks , ratatouille garnished with zucchini and pepper, a sweet serving of cheesy scalloped potatoes) served with my scallops, and that were not entirely repeated with my companions lamb (he had the carrot matchsticks and green beans with his own scalloped potatoes). Their wine by the glass pleased even my picky sommelier friend, their current red table wine is an organic GSM, one more plus. My scallops were a hair overdone, but knowing how easy that is to do, I cant fault them for that. My companions lamb was perfection. Dessert was very good, he had the Grand Marnier cheesecake, I had the tarte tatin. Both very good.

This is my new favorite restaurant in the area. Being French I certainly have a weakness for French food but I also systematically compare with the quality I can get back home. In this case it definitely compares with the best you can get in France, with very fine cuisine in a friendly and quiet atmosphere. If this is what you like, you will love le Petit Bistro. Their meats are really good, so I am not afraid to ask for medium-rare; their appetizers are also very enjoyable whether you get a soup or try my favorite snails. Regarding deserts, I am not a dessert person but I remember enjoying all the one I got there even when I was already pretty satisfied with the salty foods. The atmosphere is the one of a good French restaurant, quiet but friendly; the places owners are serving you with the dedication, and make you feel at home by offering their recommendations and describing with thorough details the dishes you ask about. Enjoy!

We eat at Le Petit Bistro regularly and always enjoy the food and the personalized service. The chef/owner frequently visits each table and the waitress is so sweet and very helpful. The food quality is consistently excellent. Their specials are written on a white board and their fresh fish special is always an excellent choice. For appetizer, try the crab and cheese tartelets. Dinner favorites are the duck, scallops and all of their daily specials. Their green salad is so simple but it the best salad ever! Save room for dessert at the tart tartin is terrific ( I am not an apple pie lover but this is truly the exception). It is not fancy inside, and not a romantic dinner out, but always a wonderful dining experience. Give it a try

I came here for a team dinner and I appreciated the fact that the menu was very simple and straightforward. That said, everything else was pretty much just average for me. I had the lobster bisque and one of the specials for the evening, salmon with aioli sauce and mashed potatoes. The lobster bisque was just average for me and, although the portion was quite generous, it wasnt creamy enough for me. As for the salmon, it would have been fine had it not been drowned in aioli sauce. Ultimately, the best part of the meal for me was the bread; it was fresh and warm. Overall, Ive definitely had better French food elsewhere, but the prices were reasonable and the staff was very friendly.

My wife and I rarely get out and Le Petit Bistro did not disappoint. Liked the simplicity of the classic French menu and the small-scale setting. Staff were attentive and friendly, but left us alone to enjoy each others company. Lobster tartlets were the appetizer special and were delicious, as was the almond crusted sole with bernaise (the veggies on the side were lovely as well, cooked tender-crisp and full of flavor). My ONLY disappointment was the tart tatin, was obviously reheated in the microwave because it was cold in the middle, apples were mushy and flavourless on top and pastry tough. :( But the rest of the meal was very nice.

Probably the best food around Mountain View, and awesome service. I was in Paris a couple weeks ago and I can say that food quality here is on par. Its delicious! The speed of the service was just unbelievable. The appetizer was brought in less than 5 minutes, and main dish a few minutes after. I only managed to read two pages in a magazine while waiting.

The food quality was good. Staff is friendly. Overall had a good experience. Expect to get a hands off style of service. Theyll come to you but not at your whim. Some ppl would say they take long but I think theyre reasonable given they only had three staff members. The duck and lamb were very good.

I ordered the filter medium rare. It came medium, but I wasnt going to say anything. The head waiter by and said he had already ordered a replacement. He didnt ask if everything was OK, or if I liked my steak. He knew the problem and took care of it. An example of the great service here.

Staff was warm and inviting. Appetizers and desserts were fabulous. Unfortunately the entrees were the low points. Our duck was a bit soggy and our lamb was over cooked. We will most definitely be back. Hopefully the chef was just having a bad night when it came cooking our meats.

I have dined here several times over the past year. It is a sweet, authentic little place. I like that it isnt over the top in decor. It lives up to its name. The food is very good and the service is delightful. I would recommend Le Petit Bistro for any occasion!

When the food is good, its very good. When its bad, its indifferent. I have eaten there many times, and find that the current (Feb, 2011) cuisine is just not as well prepared as in the past. Still, its worth a try. The owner is usually there and helpful.

Great French restaurant with good French dishes for quite reasonable prices, and non pretentious friendly owners and staff. Since chez tj has gone way down, le bistro is the French restaurant Ill recommend in mtv, and its also way cheaper. Win-Win.

Everything we ordered was really good. I have been there couple of times, once for a team lunch when they had served a buffet and then with my wife for dinner a couple of weeks back. Id recommend the duck liver, lamb and the filet mignon.

I cant begin to tell you how great the food and service were every time I went. Pretty sure that the French accents were a bit of flair for a few servers but I didnt care. I ended up eating there nearly every day I was in Mountain View.

Great food. Not cheap but quality and portions are excellent value. I ate the lobster bisque, escargot, duck pate, and rack of lamb. We were to full to try dessert. Friendly and attentive service. Highly recommended.

Really friendly and attentive service. Ambiance is cute and authentic, doing a decent job of replicating a French bistro atmosphere. Food is really good as well. The Lobster Bisque and Duck were both fantastic.

Un petit resto sympa et pas trop snob. Essayez le filet de bœuf au poivre de Madagascar.

Neighborhood restaurant serving tasty French cuisine. Snug, well-lit interior, but not fancy. Friendly staff. Our filet mignon in peppercorn sauce was well-executed, but mussels lacked substance.
