I love pizza. Its cheesy texture fills the crevase that is my mouth with heaven. There is often food in my mouth and at a healthy and hearty 370 lbs. I enjoy the occasional 5 pieces of pizza, like most burly men. Two weeks ago I decided I would eat at Pizza My Heart every day, 2 meals a day. This would not only help this small establishment financially but whet my manly cravings. With each piece, understandably, I drank a glass of ranch dressing. My health is a great concern for my wife and I. We keep our pie intake to one a day. Each. I keep my Spam intake to 4-5 tins a week because I read somewhere that Spam has testicular cancer-causing agents (I used to consume 1 can per hour 12 hours a day- that is TEN CANS!!! Wowie.) Every day I ate at Pizza my heart, I felt my own heart somersaulting- from joy I presumed. On the last day of week 2, as I enjoyed a slice of what I like to call the "Lumberjack" (Pepperoni, Sausage, Canadian Bacon, Linguisa, Salami, and Bacon)- the world spun from under my feet and I collapsed on the bountiful spice rack. I SAW MY LIFE IN FRONT OF MY EYES- FLASHING- I REALIZED THERE WAS SO MUCH MORE I HAD TO DO- AND I WAS GOING TO DIE- BECAUSE OF YOU- PIZZA- ATTACKING MY HEART. You golly-whoopin beanstalk-pickin scoundrels!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!... I woke up in the hospital very sad, but Im healing every day with the support of my wife and Oprahs Acai Berry Diet Power. THANKS OPRAH YOU GEM OF A WOMAN!!!!! -Lou.

As much as I enjoy the ease of access, Pizza My Heart has disappointed somewhat upon every visit. First, the prices are always quite expensive for pizza. Down the block, another pizza place does things a bit cheaper. This is something that could be easily overlooked, if not for the food quality. Usually, Im not extremely picky on pizza. Its pizza, for heavens sake. Here, however, the tomato sauce tastes exactly like the Sysco sauce that used to be dolloped across the spaghetti on my middle school lunch, and the toppings tend to be soggy and in very oddly large sizes. The crust on many of the pizzas Ive ordered has been bland and cardboard-esque. Some have come out wonderfully, but these were at the Capitola location. Beyond this, there are lovely people working at Pizza My Heart. I strongly believe that none of these problems are their fault, and that they work hard to uphold the restaurant and seem to be supported by good managers. I hope to visit again, tentatively, of course.

Pizza is good, but service was bad. Waited 1hr 20 mins for pizza delivery. Never came. Called and spoke with delivery guy, he claimed he called and left a voice mail. I checked my cell phone, no missed calls and no voice mail. I also had full signal. Spoke with manager who was nothing but hostile. She vigorously defended delivery driver stating: "hes just trying to do his job, Im not going to jump down his throat. I have not been getting txts or voice mails all night because of bad weather". Bad weather was not the issue. My cell was working fine, my girlfriend called twice, not to mention the lie about the voice mail. I understand mixups or mistakes happen. No biggie. But the hostility and the lies are the problem here. Manager should have just apologized and redelivered the pizza, not been rude.

Pizza My Heart (PMH) has consistently put out the best pizza, not only in Santa Cruz, but at all of their locations. Their specialty pizzas are a great blend of flavors that come together to make the tastiest pizza around. Ive been a customer of theirs for since their inception; well over 30 years. I go there for a slice or two and periodically, when I really need a pizza fix, I get a whole 18" pie. I have to force myself to stop at eating just half of a PMH pizza. Note: Not many pizzerias offer 18" as their "large" pie. The original owners are gone, but the new owner has taken Pizza My Heart to a whole new level with their specialty combination pizzas (not that the old combos were bad, but the new specialty pizzas are even more creative and all tasty!). If you havent been; GO!

To sum it up, we left. Pretty sure several of the staff were high on something. The girl taking orders seemed like she was tripping hard while still trying to take orders. Kept taking partial orders different customers, skipping me taking my moms then on to other people. Stopped to frolic with another staff member who was off the clock playing ring around the Rosie even with several people in line. Another employee came out sniffing and rubbing his nose. The guys in the back seemed out of it. Only the guy working register seemed sober... And annoyed with his co workers. He was left straightening out the mess and dealing with the long lines by himself. Ridiculous! We chose to leave after standing in line observing this behavior for at least twenty minutes. Not recommended.

Went in on a Friday night around 8pm. I guess thats not a good time considering summer is here. I just wanted to get some pizza and it was chaotic, loud, and the line was slow moving. The varieties were limited with additional pies coming out so slow the pieces were getting sold before it was even out. Oh and the distraction of t-shirt sales really added to the crazy experience all to get our slices. The place was dirty and more cleaning was needed however we found a small table to eat at. After all that, yes, the pizza was delicious!!!! Maybe I just gotta get it to go next time to get outta there asap.

Good pizza, decent price. Its also close to a lot of bars, so it great for when the drunchies kick in. If it looks like theyre out of a certain pizza, just ask; its probably being prepared already. I give it 3 stars because the tables have been pretty dirty from previous customers the last few times Ive been; I had to clean up myself. Also, they stop serving beer pretty early (I think 10pm?). If youve been to any other Pizza My Heart, you know what to expect.

PMH has amazing pizza, closest to NY style Ive found in CA. The only reason I dont give 5 stars is the prices. $3.75 for a slice of cheese is highway robbery, especially after tipping. Unfortunately, they are good enough that they can get away with it, and the tourist crowd helps keep the prices up. On my budget, it just means I only go a couple times a year. The quality is still top notch.

Simply the best pizza anywhere, any time. The key is to ask for your slice to be crisp! The texture differential is what makes it happen. Limp pizza is like flat beer. :-/ Lines get long. Staff is attractive. Plenty of seating inside and out. Weekdays are the best bet. TIP: There is always more pizza on top of the oven if you dont see what you want on display.

Great place. Very comfortable, casual vibe. We had a slice of cheese, slice of mushroom, slice of hawaiin, slice of pesto. They were all delicious. Service was ok, though the young man serving us seemed inconvenienced by the customers. The best deal by far is a slice of pizza, served in a frisbee, and Pizza My Heart t-shirt for $6.
