4/18/13 My husbands family has some history at this place. Theyve been dining here for many years. After my sister-in-law had her baby several months back, we all came here for dinner (well, not sis and baby), but the rest of the family whod spent so many hours at the hospital. We revisited for dinner this week to celebrate a birthday! What a treat! On both visits weve ordered the pate plate. With this, a homemade pate, homemade salame, and peppercini order came out with a slice of each item for each person at the table. It was very good. The bread that accompanies it is toasted but still soft and fresh. Two types of bread are in the basket with several pieces of each. The garlicky bread is more thinly sliced and is very tasty, but the plain French bread is good too. For an additional price, your meal can be served with soup, salad, and dessert. Weve done this both times Ive dined here and so glad we did. Ive liked the soup (Ive tried both watercress and potato leak) and the house salad was nicely dressed with blue cheese crumbles on the side. They really make the salad. Tiny little pieces of cheese! On EVERY bites if Casey P. is the one putting it on your plate :) Ive had rack of lamb as an entree and it was phenomenal. Also very good is the scampi with prawns. Most noteworthy (which 3 at this table ordered this week) was the filet mignon. Lucky for me, husband was one of the three. Hed eaten too much bread and was getting full around the time of its arrival. Not a problem! Ill help you with a few bites. It was huge. And so tender and juicy. Wrapped in bacon and cooked perfectly rare. A little more seared on the top than he expected but a nice bernaise sauce on the side covered this taste. French fries had been substituted on his plate for the potatoes and they were excellent. Small, thin and crispy! We all received dessert. Several flavors of ice cream (spumoni, mango, chocolate, or vanilla) or rice pudding. I went with the pudding and it was really good until about halfway through when it became too sweet for me. Golden raisins floated in it which I usually dont eat but I enjoy them in the rice pudding. I didnt have a chance to try husbands chocolate ice cream but he said it was delicious. I brought my own take-home container and filled it with his leftover veggies, a few fries, some steak, and two of my scampi prawns. It was nice to take something home with us! Service was the right speed. We didnt feel rushed but there also were long period between dishes. Just enough time to be hungry enough again for the next course. We had to ask for drink refills a few times, but the restaurant was pretty busy and the glasses are actually pretty tiny. Weve sat inside both visits but the outdoor area is beautiful. Theres also a bar (not sure if they serve food but they did have the Giants game on). And employees are nice enough to give you score updates at your table, if you ask.

Sunday evening, pris fixe Special for $25, on the porch. Very pleasant setting for conversation and dining. Multiple smallish courses, all very good. Country style pate to start, followed by potato-leek soup, both served family style. Then a light salad with optional dusting of blue cheese. For the main we had the steak with Bearnaise sauce and the veal piccata, both delicious, with very good scalloped potatoes. Everything was seasoned nicely. Accompanied by a bottle of house burgundy ($15!). Dessert was a scoop of ice-cream (mango, vanilla, chocolate, or spumoni) or rice pudding. The portions were such that we were all satisfied and full, without feeling stuffed. The waiter was attentive and anticipated our needs. The atmosphere was laid back. The price was right, and the food was good. Really couldnt ask for more. The kind of place that could easily become a regular haunt. (And plenty of interesting items on the regular menu.) If you are a local looking for a Sunday treat, you need look no further.

Been to many baque restaurants as we love to find them when we travel. This one has very small portions and they dont even offer a true basque setup like all other basque restaurants Ive been to. Their salad and soup were served as individual plates and not family style. We had a watercress soup that tasted like water. Actually, water tastes better. Dont go there if youre hungry.

Ignore the 1 star review -- they are crazy! This place is amazing. The food is to die for, there is plenty to eat, and I had the best flan of my life (and I am Spanish). With a $30.00 bottle of wine our meal came to under $100! With a decent sized salad, yummy soup, pate with homemade bread, sole and the worlds best flan, who can ask for more? I am so going back.

Bonne cuisine ... évidement légèrement différente de celle du pays basque mais pas moins délicieuse ! Quelques pintxos en apéritif seraient un plus (avis non objectif ;)

Outdoor patio and full bar, legitimate French menu with items not typically ordered by Americans...a la frogs legs, etc. But the preperation is a bit sloppy...Home cooks cook just as well or better than the restaurants cooks. Left Bank in Larkspur and Le Garage in Sausalito are better French Restaurants.
