I made it a point to stop by and check this place out. Ive had it bookmarked for a while. Its kind of in the middle of a residential area so it was surprising. The store itself isnt too big but you can see the artwork from outside the building so you know not to drive past it. I was worried about not finding parking since I think it was trash day with the trash cans on the street but it wasnt too bad with the street parking. Food: I got the Dutch Punch which was awesome. Lots of really great ingredients that go into the sandwich and theyre a decent size. I ended up only eating 1/2 of it and saving the other 1/2 for dinner. You walk in and you grab a order sheet and a red sharpie. Mark down your order, place it in the tray and then wait for your food. Theres a lot of different sandwiches that I wanted to try so thatll have to wait until next time. I sat outside in their dining area by the decor. Being outside there were a few flies and other bugs so it made me speed up my eating. Maybe eating at the tables on the street is better.

I liked the High Street Deli -- a lot! If youre hankering for a fresh, very filling sandwich (I had half at lunch and the other half for dinner), this is THE spot in SLO. Just a few minutes drive from downtown, its a small place, smack in the middle of a becoming-gentrified neighborhood. There is both indoor and outdoor seating, but its cramped inside--you might have to share a table--and if its hot outside, there isnt really a shady place to sit. Service was quick and the cashier up front, even though busy, was very nice and took the time to show me where the sandwich forms were. A bit pricey--$14, but that included a good bottled soda and kettle chips--but well worth it.

We had the Best Sandwiches at High st the day after the 4th. Walked in a lil hungover from the previous days activities in desperate need of a sando fix. High street served us up some amazing cures. The Italian sub add chipotle mayo was outstanding and the special of the day was the cali gold with smoked turkey, brie, and Honey mustard. We were all so stoked on our food and the service was great too. The lady at the reg recommended a couple of the craft beers to pair with the sandwiches and that really did the trick. Great beer selection and the Mac Salad was poppin.

San Luis Obispo is saturated with delis, so standing out is no small achievement. High Street Deli is a regular spot my co-workers and I hit for lunch. Rarely are we disappointed with the quality of the sandwiches made here. Even the "mediocre" sandwiches are a level above most delis. The BLT is a must-have (12 pieces of hickory-smoked bacon + avacado = awesome). The tuna salad is killer. If you ever stop by San Luis Obispo on a weekday, definitely visit High Street Deli outside of the lunchtime rush, which usually spans from 11:45am - 1pm.

How people are giving this place a 1 star is beyond me. Go. Home. Kooks. This is the best deli in SLO easily, its up there for best deli Ive ever eaten in California. I used to like Guss and Lincoln, but over the years their quality declined. High St. remained so amazingly consistent. They bring in FRESH meats and produce EVERY DAY. You arent getting recycled next day ingredients like everywhere else. Regardless this review is useless because walk up to High St. anytime from 12pm-5pm there will be a line stacked out the door.

Standard Deli Sandos using mostly prepackaged Boars Head Cold Cuts. Since it is a tiny place, there is not much place for cooking nor preparing stuff. While their sandwiches can be big & look impressive the cold cuts are the same as in many Supermarkets. Since it is tiny & claustrophobic inside, with a few hard seats, you are then motivated for either take out or eating outside. Parking is tough. It is popular with the College Crowd....so expect a crowd.

Even though they were super busy, they have an energetic and helpful staff and got my sandwich order out in good time. I ordered the daily special turkey sandwich and it came on fresh ingredients and perfectly toasted bread. No pressed lunchmeat here. Only good quality cuts and crisp produce. Great place to pick up a picnic orStaney either inside or out front. Dont forget to pick up a growler full of draft kombucha while youre there.

The sandwiches are DELICIOUS, and there is a nice patio off to the side where you can sit and eat. They have a great selection of drinks, including craft beer. The sandwiches are the best in SLO.. my favorite is the chipotle beef... but you cant go wrong. They have a "420 special," where they offer discounts on sandwiches from 4:20 PM until close. However, plan on waiting a while if you go for the special, as it gets quite busy!

Any sandwich shop is better then this stony establishment . They were complete and utter high-asses and lost track of my order and would not move the order ahead of the others after a forty five minute wait inside after I had called it in earlier. Get your head out of the sky and make the sandwiches you are suppose to be known for. OH AND MY LONG DESERVED WAIT WAS MEET WITH A TINY SANDWICH WHICH WAS NOT WORTH TWELVE DOLLARS.

Best Deli or Sandwich shop in San Luis Obispo or anywhere for that matter. What a Lil Gem outside of downtown slo in a cute lil historic building. They make the best tasting sandwiches and old fashioned macaroni salad ever. Keep up the great work High St. I recommend the Chipotle Beef but everything is great. Daily specials always a hit with the fam.

The sandwiches here are soooo good but the wait and crowded lines are tooo long!! We came at 11am and there was nowhere to sit. I had to wait 20-30 minutes for my sandwich and there was no iced tea or cold brew coffee left on tap. Hopefully they figure out a way to shorten the wait time, or at least refill the coffee to make the wait more bearable!

Ive eaten at just about every sandwich place in town and I have to say that without a doubt, this is the best one. I love their dutch crunch. I havent found any other shop in town that has the same bread and their dutch crunch is simply the best. I enjoy their veggie sandwich but you cant go wrong with anything here. Top notch!

This place was pretty good but not great or excellent. $11.07 for a turkey sandwich with avocado is a bit ridiculous. And the sandwich was just pretty good nothing spectacular. Price plus quality = 3 stars. That exact same sandwich with the exact same meat would be $4.50 in New York. Best part of this place is the name.
