BOOM SLAM!!! That is what my mouth felt like when I cut off a piece of savory chicken fried steak and put it in my mouth. I had to flag down one of the gorgeous waitresses to get me another napkin to wipe up the tears of joy that were falling from my eyes. A simple plate of down home country food had shown me how much joy I was missing in my life, and I had only taken one bite. I debated whether to end my life that evening, knowing full well that I would never feel such joy again in my life. Instead I returned to the Del Monte Cafe the next day, and the day after to relive the most amazing experience of my life. I had found heaven on earth. I only wish the "Rating Meter" had a choice for 364 stars, because 5 doesnt do this place justice

One Headlight
So, 9AM Sunday Morning pretty packed but the two of us did not have to wait to be seated. Our Second time coming here this month with three servers and two drino girls. So whole plate came out cold; I jumped right up, took plate to the counter and asked to throw it in the microwave. Simple Im not that picky just hungry. Server brought plate out less than a minute later and said they will make new bacon. The problem was whole plate was cold... They brought out same bacon just reheated... Ive been a server.. bacon was then overcooked. Eggs under cooked. French toast cold with glob of not melted butter in the middle... Husband loved his food, cold potatoes and all. Might go back but just disappointed for a $30 breakfast.

Just had a horrible experience there, December 2015. Witnessed the cook eat french fries with his bare hands while cooking at the window, and then reach up and put someones sandwich on the plate for serving with the same hand that had just gone into his mouth. Tried to report it quietly to the manager as violating health regulations, manager got hostile, told me to let him know if I got sick! Told me if I didnt like it I should take it up with the cook. Yelled that he had to eat while cooking because he doesnt get a break!?! Seriously?? Ill let the Health Dept. Know, they can "take it up with the cook." Entirely inappropriate, used to be our favorite restaurant, never going back...

Good fresh Food! I had lunch out with the ladies. All of us had salads and all were very fresh and quite substantial. We learned at check out though, that a whole Cobb salad is $12.99 but a HALF is $10. Didnt really add up and I think they should have said something, especially two of the ladies had the same salad and they literally could have split it in half at actually half price. I loved that I could bring my little dog. There were a few dogs there and the staff brought Riley a water bowl too.

Dropped in for ice cream after getting off Amtrak for a short layover. Picked up a vanilla shake instead. They ran out of chocolate ice cream, which is what I really wanted. The waitress was courteous and fast. There were a few people in the outside eating area and their food looked delicious when it was plated to be served--some avocado slices neatly arrange on top. The place was clean and neat with a 50s/60s flair. If we had more time, we would have eaten there.

Ive been there 2 times now and both times the food was very sub-par and the service was slow. Servers rarely came around to check on you or get refills and they also forgot multiple things on one visit. One visit I got a scramble was wasnt good nor bad, just average. The other visit I got an omlette which was only chopped uncooked veggies and diced ham slivers in between a folded egg. I eat out A LOT and wont be going back here :/.

Had lunch here a couple times in the last month and I like the club sandwich. It has all the right ingredients. The staff is attentive, polite, and prompt, but not intrusive. That is nice. The breakfasts on the plates across the table looked properly prepared and presented. All in all there are a lot of happy people at this place. And two of them are siting at my table! Good food - Very good cooks! Yum!

Went here with the kids after swim lessons, it was a bit of a lark... we all came away very satisfied per the meal, and we he kids loved the nostalgic diner experience. The building sort of throws you back in time a bit, but the service was great. My only complaint was the flies, not to many but enough that it was a little annoying.

We absolutely love the Del Monte Cafe and have eaten there uncounted times, with never once an unhappy experience. Service is always friendly, food is always good. The outdoor patio is our favorite part (friendly dogs are welcome but unfortunately our two little chihuahuas get snarly around food so we dont take them, darn it).

Great breakfast place. If you like country breakfasts with a Hispanic spin or just some plain ole pancakes, then this is a place worth trying out. Its also located in a quaint house, and has a nice bar to eat at. Overall, one of my favorites for breakfast.

Quaint little restaurant with great outdoor patio seating. Perfect for traditional American cuisine. Breakfast and lunch are amazing. Milk shakes to order. FRESH and amazing - real food. Generous portions at a reasonable price. HIGHLY recommend this place!

Currently sitting on the patio LOVING this vegetable omlet! (And this weather!) The waitresses are so sweet and attentive. If they had turkey sausage/bacon then they would have gotten 5 stars from me. Good job SLO, good job!

Nice little spot for decent food. I ate here with my girlfriend while visiting her sister and her boyfriend. Located on an entertaining corner near the railway. This place contains some local history from the area.

Terrible service! The last two times that weve been there we felt that the wait staff was annoyed we were there. Clearly not worth the pleasant ambiance and pretty good food. Bummed, but we will not return.

Atmosphere is fine and quaint, but the food was mediocre at best. Priced above average for very average fare. Staff is friendly and courteous. Great views and outside seating cannot make up for the food.

They really get how to keep kids happy! Toys at the table, awesome smiling pancake, and really good service! Cute restaurant with a neat charming atmosphere. Really casual. Food was delicious too!

Good was tasty like always. Waiter must have been in a bad mood. I have never had service that bad, ever.... my sister had 2 hairs in on her food. The waiter did comp her familys meal.

I missed breakfast by a few minutes, so I ordered a French dip sandwich. It was cold and the au jus was bland. I still want to give it a chance and will be back at an earlier time.

Love the quiche, all the omelettes , too. Our friends had chicken fried steak, biscuits and gravy, stuffed French toast with bacon and eggs. They loved it.
