It was a warm summer Friday night and we were in the mood for some chaat. Unfortunately, it was too late to drive up to Chaat Paradise in Mountain View or iChaat Cafe in Sunnyvale, our two preferred chaat locations. We turned to Yelp! and discovered that a chaat place called Chaat Cafe was located not too far from our house. It carried reasonable reviews and that was enough for the three of us to jump into the car for a quick and light dinner. We entered the place around 7:30 and found that it was almost full. Soon enough, the place was packed and more people were streaming in. Like many other chaat places, we had to place our orders up at the counter and someone would deliver the food to our table. We werent sure of the spice levels for the little guy and asked for an extremely mild aloo paratha with raitha and a sweet lassi. For us, we ordered paneer pakoras, a papdi chaat and a samosa chaat. The menu seemed to carry most of the popular chaat items. Food starting arriving pretty soon- one at a time. Much of it was served warm. The sweet lassi is hard to screw up and they didnt. The aloo paratha can with raitha- nice and warm and not spicy as requested. For once, someone who gets a kid specific request. The wife felt that the papdi chaat was a tad bland which was corrected with the a couple of the amply available small cups of tamarind and date chutney and a spicier mint chutney. I was a tad disappointed with the samosa chaat- it was too salty and spicy and had much too much chana. The paneer pakoras came in hot and again- thankfully not too spicy and kid friendly. Overall, we liked the place. We know what to specifically ask for the next time around. And there was nothing that would make us not want to come here again. A definitely acceptable local alternative for chaat when the urge strikes.

They offer quick service and good quality good for decent prices. It isnt particularly cheap but it wont break the bank. They have a good mix of vegetarian and non-veg options (meat is halal). My husband likes their chicken curry and today the veg side with the meal was bhindi, prepared very nicely, too. Usually their dal is ok but nothing special. I like the chaat they named themselves for. Everything Ive had has been fine. If youre in South San Jose and dont want to travel, this is a solid option. Im not sure Id go too far out of my way to visit, though. Food as it comes (if you dont ask for any heat level) tends to be on the mild side.

this place is the one to go for wraps..amazing ones they have got. i especially like their cucumber salad that they serve with these wraps and the portion too is HUGE! Two can eat from one wrap ordered. But like most resturant/cafes, this one too has its own good and bad dishes. For instance, i had ordered Paneer Tikka Masala and it tastes like paneer cubes in tomato puree! But the Naans were the softest ones i have had. Great quality n quantity for a reasonable price. Definitely recommeded!!

How hard is it to a find a clean and organized India Chaat place in the valley? Harder than you think :) . Thank fully Chaat Cafe bucks the trend. Pros: Clean spacious place; seriously is very hard to find clean ($$) Indian places. Pros: the drinks vending machine, love it !! Cons: the food was average. Where is the chaat maasala? this is a chat place. I had paneer kathi role, which was made with a naan roti. Just improve the food and you are at 5 * !!

I was expecting a chaat house like Chaat Bhavan in Fremont (which isnt bad but is pretty low frills what you expect is what you get). Chaat Cafe offers a full menu of food. I ordered a papdi chaat and a chicken tikka wrap (I think) - the food was excellent. The ingredients tasted fresh and the meat was very well cooked. There was quite a bit of traffic in the restaurant - its got a great location near lots of good shopping. Ill definitely go back.

Very good samosa chaat here. Some items are more spicy than others, so do let folks at the counter know if you need less/more spicy food. The "Aachari paneer dinner" (which you can also order at lunchtime) was good and less spicy; the "saag paneer dinner" was more spicy. After-lunch-tea is very good too. And you can be gauranteed of fresh food here. Highly recommend this if you are in San Jose.

This is our go to place on most of the days. Its fresh and its always tasty. I like this place because its so well maintained and the service is quick. The bhel puri and chole samosa are good. Even the dinner plates are all good. I dont know why its rating is less but its so much better than some other places I have tried in Sunnyvale and Milpitas which are rated much higher.

Good, fast service. Not as convenient to get to because of the construction nearby, and traffic on working hours make this place quite difficult to get to. You can order ahead by using the app "order ahead", or just call in to make a take out pickup time. Gotta try their papuri chat and their butter chicken curry, a dinner for kings!

Not to be mistaken for "India Chaat Cafe", although they do share quite a bit of similarities. Simple menu, easy to browse, and pretty good value for the food you get. I guess this is what Indian fast food looks like. Great for the busy people who is always on the run and need to get their India fix in a quick minute.

M-F 5 bucks lunch (not tried yet) Battura was good (4star) however chole was below par like in 1 star (vert light - hardly any taste with mandala). Also have tried Bhel which was fine (3 stars). Open all day with upfront payment at counter, however they bring the food to table so dont forget to tip.

Food was fresh and restaurant as clean. But too spicy for me. Also tandoori roti etc tasted almost like a bhatura. Also Aloo tikki was raw from the inside, seems their cooks are not very experienced in cooking authentic Indian food, but unfortunately there are not many Indian restaurants in this area.

We ordered 2 curries, naan, 2 rolls and some chaat for Friday dinner with family. The Chaat was ok. The curry was watery and no flavor whatsover. The rolls dont come with any right dip with it. Otherwise what would have become a nice family dinner was ruined by Chaat Cafe. I am not coming back again.

Delicious, quick Indian food. The service is fast and the food is mighty. I always get the the chicken tikka masala dinner or butter chicken dinner and it is soooo yum! I also get the chicken tikka wrap for lunch which is the perfect size. This is a go-to for my friends and me.
